  1. They aren't going to sell...just no way. As far as waiting until after the Cubs series...I think that's a bit dangerous in that they could REALLY use a starter to take Woodruff's spot in the rotation for that series. I'm not(and I sure as hell hope the Brewers aren't) comfortable, trotting out Aaron Wilkerson or anyone else currently in the organization to make that start in a series that COULD ultimately determine who wins the division. Be nice to have an outside arm by tomorrow at the latest.
  2. I always feel like the best way to judge if a team is still in it or not, is look at how many teams they would have to pass, more than just how many games behind they are. You could only be 3 games out of a playoff spot, but if you have to pass 3-4 teams to get there, that's a pretty steep hill to climb. Point being, that's truly how buy/sell GM's should be thinking this week.
  3. Not to alarm anyone but Dubon was just pulled in the 5th inning tonight...but it was part of a double switch, so there may be nothing more to it then that.

  5. It was a win-win for me. Instead of parking in front of the TV for almost 4 hours, after the third inning I set the DVR and took advantage of the first day this week that it was comfortable to be outside. Came back in two hours later and watched the game develop with liberal use of fast forward. I missed part of the game when I fainted after Saladino’s GS, but the score hadn’t changed anyway so I didn’t bother going back. Just got to the end of the game. Nice win but kind of concerned about Woodruff, especially since he was set up to face the Cubs twice. The off days this Thursday and next Monday could come in handy. ETA- just saw the news on Woodruff. That’s going to be hard to overcome. I was already thinking the best move for the Brewers would be to stand pat or maybe pick up a depth bullpen arm if they can do it for lesser prospects. I see their only real chance to contend without giving more too much is to hope the offense can carry the team. That's what he has been playing in SA recently. They can't stand pat..even before Woody's injury I have said that. Now they have to go get a BIG arm. I disagree. Without Woodruff for an extended period thay aren’t going to have enough anyway, and I hate to see them pay what it would take to get a big arm, even if one is available. With so many teams looking to add pitching the prices are going to be astronomical. So what are you supposed to do?? Just punt on the rest of the season and trot guys like Aaron Wilkerson out there to take woody's place?? You can't do that, and not have fans VERY irate. And I'm 99% certain mark A wouldn't want to do that either.

I wonder if Shaw remembers how to play first base. That Thames injury looks like an instant DL. ETA- just saw the news on Woodruff. That’s going to be hard to overcome. 7. Time to get someone RIGHT now...they will need them for the Cubs series. It's still an upgrade when Woody comes back though. They better NOT trot out one of their crap arms they have been for a game against the Cubs in place of Woody. Burnes and Shaw will be back. Yuck on Burnes, he is NOT the answer right now...they NEED someone from the outside. If Burnes is their answer for replacing Woody(or Wilkerson or Nelson or anyone else in the system), in the heat of a pennant race than Stearns is truly an idiot. You CANNOT trot someone like that out with the ever important series against the Cubs coming up. Especially when you also currently have Chacin in the rotation.

  9. If the Brewers continue to rattle off wins it’s going to be disappointing if they don’t end up making any meaningful acquisitions at the deadline. Especially after his comments. We're running out of time to make that call. Only 10 days till the deadline and you know some of the key chips are going to be dealt before the last day. I hope Stearns has his team working out any and all possibilities that would land us Will Smith and MB. To me, I'd like to see those acquisitions(or at least one impact one) made before the Cubs series next week.
  10. Anyone know who was supposed to be starting for San Antonio tonight?? Belasario is starting, and it was listed just a bit ago as TBD...to me that means there was a change of some sort
  11. Let's get the lead here, get Junior through the 6th, bring in Houser for the 7th and 8th and finish it with Hader.
  12. No it doesn't. Just asking an honest question...are you THAT afraid of giving up prospects?? You don't really want them to go get anyone, do you??
  13. LOL ... it sure is a good thing that they are actually going to play a game today then. Maybe this team can pull one out despite their pathetic manager. I hope they do...but C'mon, you can't sit both Yelich and Grandal if Braun is unavailable...Not when these games are uber important.
  14. Braun unavailable today...it was Yelich's scheduled day off apparently. Why in the hell if you know Braun is hurt and unavailable would you not reschedule Yelich's day off then?? And to sit Yasmani at the same time?? Pathetic managing to say the least. Guess these games aren't that important to CC. You play to win the game.
  15. And I agree with nate. Basically creating two new holes to obtain a modest at best upgrade going from Davies to Thor doesn't work in my mind if the goal is to compete this year. Syndergaard & Lugo for Arcia, Burnes, Davies, Lutz and Peralta is awfully close...Done deal if I'm in charge. If you do that, you better hope Thor stays healthy, because you are destroying the team's starting pitching depth. Using the site, DeGrom is an easier get, who I'd rather have anyway, does that work for you?? You are only giving up Davies that is a current starter...Burnes destroyed his own value, that's not my fault.
  16. According to that trade values website, that offer is light, FWIW. And I agree with nate. 17. Leake wouldn’t replace Chase Anderson, he would replace Chacín...who is one of the worst starters to consistently pick up a baseball among competing teams. Leake isn't that much better than Chacin IMO...if they are going for a starter, I'd prefer it be a BIG starter, that moves the needle significantly. Same with the bullpen arms they may acquire.
