  1. Brewers and will flip to Packers during commercials.
  2. On the homerism issue, this is a local broadcast and my understanding has always been that the announcers are supposed to be fans of the team of a sort. This should only mean that they want the Brewers to win, not be biased in their play calling or be like listening to a fan in the stands (ala Santo). I'm no big fan of Brian and Bill, but they mostly do well in this regard. The only other local announcing team I have seen often enough to form an opinion on would be the Cubs. Now they are homers all the way. A good example of the difference is the reaction to replays, Brian and Bill are honest about what they see. They will say things like: "the Brewers got a break there" when a wrong call favors the Brewers or "could have gone either way", when it is really to close to call or even when it looks like it probably was very close, but wrong call that went against the Brewers. On the Cub broadcasts it seems like the announcers never say things like that. Instead every close call should have gone the Cubs way and I don't think I have ever heard them admit that a call was wrong when it favored the Cubs. I think this sort of thing has been a tradition there for a long time, with Steve Stone having been an exception to the rule.
  3. I have no problem with signing Gagne, they took a chance and it did not work out. Yost continuing to pretend that it did work out is probably his biggest failure.
  4. True, assuming CC wins two they just have to get one win out of the remaining three games. On locations for new teams, I'd first go with choices that eventually might siphon revenue from the Yankees...maybe NJ and Connecticut if not additional teams in NY. This will never happen, of course.
  5. If anyone deserves boos and scorn, it's the manager that keeps throwing him out there when games are still in the balance. How does one specify that their "boo" is for Ned's idiotic decision? To me booing as the guy comes into the game is booing the decision.
  6. Would it be okay if they called them "conferences" instead of "leagues"? Why have divisions, when there is inter-divisional play all season long?
  7. I would have assumed that this is standard practice. Do other teams go about this differently and draft guys specifically to develop them as relievers? It seems like they have focused many of their picks on DHs, which is odd for a team in the NL. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. Since it is not Gagne deciding that he should pitch in those situations, is it not actually someone else that you can not defend?
  9. How about 6 division of 5... 18 games against each division opponent for a total of 72 games. 6 against the other 10 teams in the league = 60. 6 against teams in one division of the other league = 30 Total = 162 Yes, this requires moving one team from the NL to the AL and interleague all season.
  10. What is the point of comparing one thin slice of the Brewers to another team that probably just got lucky? Florida Marlins 71-69 and 9 games back in the wild card standings, in 3rd place and 8 games behind in their division. Milwaukee Brewers 80-60 and leading the wild card standings, in 2nd place and 5 games behind in their division.
  11. we can bring in drinks for everyone for the price of buying one at the stadium. Yes and I could bring in a 6 pack or more for the price of one beer, if I were allowed to do it. If the policy changes it is not going to be because the Brewers did not realize that bringing food and drinks in is cheaper.
  12. 154 and 162 were, I believe, just numbers that worked out with the number of teams that they had. 154 was when there were 8 teams in each league, 22 games against each team with 7 teams to play against gave 154. 162 was 18 games against each of 9 teams when there were 10 in each league. Then when they went to 12 and two divisions it was 18 games against the 5 other teams in your division and 12 against the 6 in the other division. I think at one point the AL changed that and went to a "balanced" schedule instead of using the 12 and 18, they played about the same number of games against each team in the league but since 162 is not divisible by 11 they had to have unequal numbers of games against different teams...thus destroying the symetry that had existed. (What is the matter with the AL anyway... messing up the scheduling, creating the DH) Now with different numbers of teams in each league and division, 162 is essentially just an arbitrary number and there is no possibility of finding another number that would give the beautiful symetry that used to exist with the 12 and 18. Numbers like that which are divisible by both 2 and 3 work the best for baseball, as everything can then be 3 game series and equal home and away match-ups.
  13. It would never happen, but they could bring a few scheduled double headers (they could even make them day/night so as not to lose ticket sales) and end the season a few days earlier so that the 5 game first round could be 7 without things going any later than they already do.
  14. How about a game ticket, hot dog, and soda for $10 per person...only $40 for that family of four for admission and food combined. Badger Mutual Insurance Family Days On Sunday home games, fans may purchase at least one day in advance a Terrace Reserved ticket, a hot dog and a small soda for $10. Compliments of Badger Mutual Insurance Company.
  15. Let's hope they don't suck again. Would you rather have it be cheaper to go to the games and have a poor team or have to pay more and have them remain good? If the latter, would you rather have to reduce the amount of carry-ins and buy more over-priced consessions or pay more for tickets?
  16. Buy one drink in a bottle and then refill at the fountains bubblers, this is what I do with my first bottle of beer. Put the granola bar in your pocket and I'm sure you will be fine, if they change this policy. Don't most ballparks allow carry-ins? I'm pretty sure Wrigley does, or did...have not been there in a while. Ah, yep...they do: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.c...chc/ballpark/security.jsp
  17. The quality of the #1 and #2 starters is much more important that the rest of the pitching staff in the post season. In the playoffs, Sheets and Sabbathia should start at least 3 games in a 5 game series and in a 7 game series at least 4.
  18. Are you sure you want to wish that with the Brewers having 4 against Philadelphia next weekend? I don't see much difference in the remaining schedules for the Mets and Phillies. Comparing the two, the Mets have 3 more games vs. Washington than the Phillies do and they have 3 fewer against FL...so that is advantage Mets. The Mets play Chicago 4 times while the Phillies play four against us, so that is advantage Phillies.
  19. Yes, they need to pound lumps on SD and Cincinatti to give us a bigger cushion going into that series. Then they need to do they same with Cincinatti and Pittsburgh after that. If they go something like 9-4 in those 13 games against bad teams, then even going 3-7 against the Cubs and Phillies likely gets them the wild card as the Phillies would need to go 16-6 to tie.
  20. I'm not so sure the Gamel bandwagon is not just stubborn old-brewerfan.net, play the AAA and AA players and we are sure to win, mindedness. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif They need to play the guys who are going to be in the post-season. As someone else posted Hall needs the ABs, he's only going to potentially improve with regular ABs and definitely will not improve by sitting on the bench.
  21. Golly, I'll bet they just cringed after being informed of their improper behavior by you.
  22. Which of our relievers would you actually feel good about entering a playoff game? Torres, most of the time? Shouse, maybe against lefties? We have no setup man. Gagne is hit and miss, and Mota, as good as he's been lately, is not the answer. I don't watch other teams enough to know this, but I would not be surprised if similar comments could be made about most bullpens in MLB.
  23. Good points. Were these playoff games, I don't think Sheets comes out (I hope not at least) and I don't think Parra is a starter, because I think he will go to the bullpen for the playoffs. Hopefully Sheets and CC do not have to start the last two games of the season and instead are well rested for games 1 and 2 in the playoffs. Provided they do not go to Philly and get swept next week, I'm not too worried about the Brewers making the playoffs. I am worried about that being all that they accomplish. Going to the playoffs as a wild card and losing is almost like not going at all. It'd be easier to take a loss in the first round, if they were to win the division.
  24. That is what really pisses me off about this guy, he continues to lie about where the runner was to cover up his hasty and poor decision. If you look at the replay and freeze it when CC stands up and is starting his throwing motion the batter is right at the start of that extra baseline, which is exactly 1/2 way to first base. Many articles had picked up this scorer's comments and said that CC may not have gotten the runner, even if he made the throw, etc. I think Yost exploded probably mainly because the guy did not even take a second to think about the call. This column says most think that he got it wrong: http://sports.yahoo.com/m...p;prov=yhoo&type=lgns
  25. I'm not one with romantic notions about this company or their products, but heck, change the team name to the HOGs or whatever Harley wants, if they will pay CC's salary. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
