  1. 87-75 finish about 2 games out of the wildcard, but are in the race all season. Gomez outshines Escobar both at the plate and in the field. Weeks plays the whole season without any trips to the DL. Suppan is released before the All Star game. Braun, Fielder, Yo, and Hoffman all make the All Star team. Wolf leads a progressing starting pitcher staff with 17 wins. Kottaras gets more playing time than Zaun in the second half of the season, and is successful at it. Gamel doesn't get called up until September and is traded for pitching next offseason. Axford is called up before the break and is the shining newcomer in the bullpen to set himself up as the closer next year.
  2. I ordered it just to give it a shot. Couldn't find it anywhere else for under $74, so I'm hoping it's worth the shot. I'll update this thread when I get it (probably after opening day with $5 shipping) and let you guys know how it works.
  3. Does anyone have experience with this product at all? Ambient Baseball ScoreCast Desktop Scoreboard - Provides Scores, Stats and Schedules for Every Pro Baseball Team! http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/83625479537dffac6d118fe550755deddc28ab1.jpg It's selling for $40 today and I'm kind of interested since it doesn't require any kind of pc or wi-fi connection and it (supposedly) has inning by inning updates on all baseball scores and game action as well as standings. I don't currently have a PC with internet access or the luxory of listening to a radio at work and just curious if this works as well as they claim. It would be great to be able to get updates during Brewer games without having to go into the backroom of my store and hopefully hear the score on the radio.
  4. So I really liked this card and decided to see what I could find on Ebay to get one. I found no less than 6 different versions of it ranging in price from 50 cents to almost $20. I just can't believe how different the card industry has changed in the past ten years or so. Now I have to decide which of the versions I really want, it wasn't suppose to be this difficult.
  5. I could actually visualize a Dukes vs Zambrano slugfest at Wrigley. The Cubs like to cross promote their team, how bout they sign him and after every Zambrano blowup on the field, they go at it MMA style on top of the dugout?
  6. I've never attended a basketball game any higher level than high school. Been to football, baseball, hockey, and even college golf and la crosse games, but never basketball for some reason.
  7. Not only was it unethical but it was a downright ripoff for some "clients". Add on the ones that wanted a refund anticipation loan--a whole seperate bad idea--and there were people who were giving up over 50% of their refunds to have their taxes prepared. disclaimer--It has been over 5 years since I worked for Jackson Hewitt so I don't know if they still charge the same percent based fees or not. They may have totally changed their system. I'm just sharing what my experience was working there, and trying to shed some light on how much someone could lose out by not at least attempting to do their taxes on their own or shopping around for the best service.
  8. BrewerAddiction--When I used to work for Jackson Hewitt, we charged a flat fee of I believe it was 75 bucks and on top of that a percentage of what your tax refund was. The lower the dollar amount of the refund, the higher percentage we got. I would really suggest trying an online service first, just to see what it spits out for you. Most online ones are totally free to go through the whole questionaire until you actually get to actually efiling. I think you may be surprised with how in depth they get and since you are CPA I'm certain you would have no issues understanding most of the lingo.
  9. Phil Harris died of a massive stroke while in port in Alaska. Admittedly I am a fan of the Deadliest Catch program overall, but Phil was my favorite captain on the show for sure. I really thought he was almost dead from the blood clot he dealt with while filming the show last season. I'm interested to see if they continue featuring his boat on the show and if his two sons are going to continue working on the rig.
  10. Went to the Safe House Saturday night for a post holiday work dinner and actually really enjoyed it. It was very crowded but we went at 8:30 on a Saturday night so that is to be expected. We were tucked in the far back corner and didn't have a viewable tv to watch people enter and go through the hijinx so we missed out on some entertainment, but still had a good time. I ordered a burger texas style (with BBQ sauce and bacon) and was very impressed. I heard from friends that they tend to overcook meat so I ordered mine medium rare and it certainly was closer to medium well so be carefull with that. I would not reccomend the onion rings, they were very poor in quality.
  11. Latest draft order linked from mlbtraderumors. Pretty close to what has been speculated, but what intrigues me is that the Angles have 5 of the first 40 overall picks right now--wow edit--Brewers at 14, 62 and 94 out of the first 100 First Round Nationals Pirates Orioles Royals Indians Diamondbacks Mets Astros Padres Athletics Blue Jays Reds White Sox Brewers Rangers (for failure to sign '09 first rounder Matt Purke) Cubs Rays Angels (from Mariners for Type-A Chone Figgins) Astros (from Tigers for Type-A Jose Valverde) Red Sox (from Braves for Type-A Billy Wagner) Twins Rangers Marlins Giants Cardinals Rockies Phillies Dodgers Angels (from Red Sox for Type-A John Lackey) Angels Rays (for failure to sign '09 first rounder LeVon Washington Yankees
  12. Found a solution to my connectivity issues. Here is a step by step guide for anyone else having the same problem. You have to disable the homegroup on the windows 7 device if you are also using any other operating systems on other machines. Not an issue for me, since I only have the one laptop running windows 7, so being connected to a homegroup did me no good anyway. I disabled the homegroup and homegroup listener early yesterday and it has solved all of my problems so far, hopefully everything continues to work smoothly.
  13. Thought I would just start a new thread on this since it's taking over the not bugging you thread. Anyone have thoughts and input on the new Windows 7? I've liked it well enough for most uses, but I seem to have some sort of connectivity issue with my new laptop with Win7. After the laptop hibernates at all it says I am connected to my router but I have no internet access. I know my router is working because I can still connect to the internet with other devices, but I have to reset the router to get internet access on the Win7 laptop each time. I've done some searching and have found that this seems to be somewhat of a common problem, but can't find a solution to it yet. Hoping some of you out there with more tech savvy than me might be able to give me a suggestion on how to fix this problem, or if someone has found an update to fix it that they could share, I would appreciate it.
  14. Are you having this issue with a windows 7 laptop using wireless? My issue seems to be that I am still connected to my router, but don't have internet access. Router is working fine, because I can still connect and have internet access with other devices but for some reason I have to constantly reset my router for the new win7 laptop to gain internet access.
  15. I got a new laptop last week with Windows 7 and I also say that I am fairly happy with it. The only issue I have with it is some problem staying connected to my wireless router and being able to connect to the internet. Doing a little research, this seems to be a somewhat common issue with windows 7, so hopefully there is going to be a quick fix update coming from microsoft soon.
  16. Ticket deals were great to us. We used it about 5 or 6 times to get tickets within a day or two of the game when we decided to go kind of last minute. The deals were usually a little cheaper than you could find on stubhub after their fees. Granted we live very close to the stadium, but I would certainly love to see this kind of deal back again next year. Edit--Wanted to add that we usually did it online, but twice called and spoke with Jake and he was absolutely fantastic and cordial about the deals and what he could and could not get us as far as seat locations and tickets.
  17. The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King is probably my all time favorite as far as series go. Falls a lot more into the fantasy catagory than horror like most of King's books. It's fairly adult themed and somewhat violent, but I was totally hooked after reading the first book in the series--The Gunslinger.
  18. PM's from this morning have been forwarded out. If you didn't get the email, check your spam box because it's forwarded through the corporate email system.
  19. It's that time again. If you want a 30% coupon drop me a pm with your email address and I will send one out for you.
  20. Joe Maddon might be a decent fit as well, Brewdude
  21. Agreed that Swindle looked pretty impressive tonight. Also that might be the best performance I've seen from Chris Smith (other than hitting Karstens), granted both were in pure mop-up duty, but they looked good at least.
  22. I have vouchers for the Kendall. anyone hear if they are in yet, or when the replacements are suppose to be coming in?
  23. wow, just wow. That's all I can say about what the whole Bush situation has turned into. Makes you think that a 100 game suspension for pot smoking isn't the worst thing that could happen with a big prospect.
  24. that's exactly the one I was looking for, thanks jnorman
