  1. We live between Stevens Point and Junction City so we have our own LP tank that is serviced by a local gas company. The biggest kicker of my night was going to Facebook after posting my rant here to see a Ferrellgas posting about March being customer appreciation month and them giving away prizes to loyal customers. Needless to say, I about lost it then and was up sending out emails to their Facebook site, the regional Vice President in my area and the company's CEO until about midnight. (Sidenote--these names and emails are usually pretty easy to find with a couple of Google searches and browsing through a company's about us link on their website.) Service tech was out this morning to find out the leak is actually outside the house where the gas line runs along the basement wall. Since we have a split level house with basement windows right above ground level, the gas was seeping into the house for who knows how long. He figured we leaked about 200 gallons or more of LP into the ground around the house. The good news is that he was able to disconnect the old lines and install new ones, albeit above ground for right now, and we have gas and heat in the house as of right now. That was another $189 to finally get it fixed, most of which was the charge for the actual new copper pipe which I totally understand. Shortly after the tech arrived the Regional VP personally called me to tell me that he was looking into the situation and had already listened to the call with their emergency line rep from last night. In his words "I couldn't believe what I heard so I had to listen to it again and when I looked at the timeline until we actually called a driver I was shocked." He was great to deal with and assured me that we would be getting a credit for the $200 emergency call fee, a credit for the gas overcharge and whatever else he would be able to for us. He told me that he personally knew that tech that was out this morning and talked with him before he got here. That tech is actually a first responder from another local community fire department and he had heard the 911 dispatch at 6:15 last night and he couldn't believe that he wasn't called right away so he figured it must have been a different gas company. Even the tech personally apologized before he left and said we never should have had to wait until this morning to get it resolved.
  2. Got home from work around 6:00 tonight to a house that was only 58 degrees because the furnace wasn't working. Went to the basement to see what the problem was to realize the entire basement smelled of gas. Sent the wife and pets to her parents and went outside to call the gas company's emergency line to report the leak. First thing was a recording saying the wait time on their EMERGENCY line would exceed 15 minutes! After being on hold for 10 minutes the call was disconnected. Starting to get worried, I gave up and called 911 to get someone out to check on the leak and had my wife call the emergency line and wait on hold. The local volunteer fire department was there within 10 minutes which was great. They made sure everything was shut off and that more gas was leaking into the house. By now our tank had leaked down to empty which meant there was at least 100 gallons of lp leaked into the house. Wife finally calls, 45 minutes after our first attempt, and has the gas company on the other line at 6:45. Explain the situation and that we need someone out tonight to check the leak and put some gas in the tank to make sure the leak was fixed. I let them know the fire dept. was going to wait for them to make sure everything was ok before leaving. It will cost us $200 for an emergency call and I have to pay for the gas up front on my credit card before they will send someone out. That sucks but its winter and we have gas heat so I really don't have an option so I tell them just to get someone out. 8:30 rolls around and no one from the gas company has shown up yet so I call the emergency line back. Wait on hold another 10 minutes to find out that they just contacted a driver/service tech at 7:35 and they would have him call me with an ETA. the driver calls to tell me he was just filling his truck and he would be to our house around 9:25. For those keeping track that's almost 3 and a half hours from the time we found a GAS LEAK! Until the gas company could be there for an emergency call that cost me $200. In the meantime I've spent the better part of three hours hanging out in a fire truck, which was kind of cool, because the fire dept. didn't want anyone going in the house. Not to mention having to explain to several neighbors why there was two fire trucks at our house that were just sitting there with lights on. Finally the driver from the gas company arrives about 9:30 and tries to tell me that we just ran the tank empty and if we were on the company's keep fill program this would never have happened. I tell him that I just checked the tank 9 days ago and there was over 150 gallons of gas in it. We normally use about 75 gallons in a winter month so there was no way we used 150 gallons in just over a week. He rudely tells me again that we ran the tank empty and the pilot light went out causing the smell, but we will check it out. Low and behold when he runs the pressure check it shows a gas leak in the house. Next he insists we left a burner on the stove or something. He goes in the house to find out no burners were on and that was no reason why the test failed. He runs the test again which fails and finally goes into the basement to look at the gas lines. Comes out of the basement and guess what, he realizes there is a leak somewhere and it really smells like gas down there. Surprise, surprise, we've been saying this for almost four hours by now. His final solution is that he can't do anything tonight to fix the leak so he is going to have a specialist come out in the morning to find and fix the leak. As he is getting ready to leave, he shows me the bill for the emergency call and realizes they charged us 75 cents a gallon more than they should have by "accident" for 400 gallons of gas that he couldn't put in the tank because he couldn't fix the leak but that had already been charged to my credit card so we will have credit next time with the gas company when they fixed the leak. Sorry I've ranted so long but now I'm staying at the in laws for who knows how long after spending four hours and $1200 dollars (who knows what the charge will be for the 911 call) to have someone tell me that we had a gas leak which is what I knew as soon as I got home from work. Just can't believe the "emergency" service level of a company that has spent all of March giving away prizes on Facebook for customer appreciation month. For some reason I just don't feel very appreciated.
  3. Invader--Just saw this offer posted when I went to sign into my DirecTv account to pay a bill today. This might just make it worthwhile to make the switch this year. If you sign up by 4/15 you get MLB Extra Innings and NFL Sunday Ticket free for this year. Have to sign up for the $78/month package but it would also give you the 4 room DVR. You could save another $10/month if someone refers you. "wink wink--I know a guy"
  4. Your TV would be cheaper through Directv, but you would have to look elsewhere for cable and phone which would probably offset the cost difference. I pay about $125/month for Directv, which includes a whole home DVR and three HD boxes. We also have all of the movie channels and the sports package as well.
  5. Ok, seen a lot of router recommendations in this topic and hoping for one more that may not be as pricey. We have HughesNet Satellite internet service which one a great day is 10 Mbps so we certainly don't need anything top of line. I would like something that should share the signal throughout our 2100 sq. ft. split level home. I currently am using a 7 year old Linksys WRT54GS wireless G broadband router that I have to unplug and reset every two or three hours to hold a wifi connection. I had tried a new TP Link 3G/3.75G wireless lite N router for a couple of months and that didn't work for us at all even compared to my old Linksys. I should have known better but I tried it for cheap of a deal of the day site and it just didn't cut it. I don't need anything overly fancy, we connect with 1 laptop, 1 PC in the basement office, 1 PS3 in the basement and our 2 Iphones. I would like to be able to spend somewhere under the $50 range if it is something that is worthwhile. If there's not anything good that anyone would recommend in that range we could spend more but would really like to keep it under $100 max.
  6. You would think that someone at channel 7 would realize how irritating it is for them to run their winter weather advisory bar directly over the top of the score and time clock for the basketball game. Yes the weather advisory information is important to get out, but is there anyone at the station actually watching what they are putting on the screen to see how poorly it is set up?
  7. Not sure if this is an argument for or against the signing but it is a very good comparison. Both plus defenders with what is reported to be great clubhouse presence. Cameron--12 year average after arbitration---6.3 mil/year (starting in 2000 when salaries where much lower) Gomez--4 years after arbitration--7.0 mil/year While the signing isn't a steal in my eyes, it is a very solid team friendly contract for the Brewers. He certainly has hit more flyballs the past two seasons which I think is a direct result of not living by the "With your speed, you're to hit the ball on the ground and be legging them out" philosophy. Either that or Gomez is just not as tired since Dale Svuem left and he doesn't have to do 20 pushups every time he hits a ball in the air.
  8. I have a similar complaint about the HughesNet website. Overall I am very satisfied with the service that the company provides, but having to log in to their website to make account changes or view bills is a major chore. Overall their website is the least user-friendly website I have used in the past decade. Links are no longer active all over their main page and it literally opens 4 windows during the log in process just to get to your account information. In this day and age where a significant number of major companies are developing smartphone apps and streamlining customer service it amazes me that the sites that lag behind the most on technology are for companies that claim to be the most important step to connecting to the internet.
  9. Just set up an auction league on Yahoo and looking for teams to fill it. This would be the first year of the league so all settings would be up for discussion/debate before the season begins. If possible would like to set it up with 4 keepers a year and keep this league up for as long as possible. Personally haven't ever done an auction league with Yahoo, but have used them for several years in regular draft leagues. League is open to public viewing so settings and scoring can be seen at the url below and I copied the most important info below. If anyone is interested in joining the league pm me your email address and I will send over an invite. Thinking either starting the first year with no entry fee or up to $20 a team unless everyone wants to go higher. Would also like to possibly set up the option for charging for roster moves. Maybe $.25 per add/drop and $1 per trade or something similar. 10. http://www.speedtest.net/result/2424460728.png Really happy with this result today. Just got the new Gen4 service installed from Hughesnet. Haven't had a speedtest result over .75 Mb/s since we bought our house in July 2011. Turns out the new Gen4 is going to be the same price each month as we had been paying before and should be about 10 times faster. Back to the days of actually being able to get something accomplished while online. Only thing that I don't understand is why my closest server shows up as being in Wichita, KS when we live in central Wisconsin. Not sure if that is something I can change or if that has to do with the Hughesnet satellite. Any tech savvy posters have any advice for that or know if it really matters with what speeds I get?
  11. Patrick--try going into your bluetooth menu and saying "list". That gives me a total rundown of all the paired devices. I then say "delete" and it asks which device to delete. I did that and deleted all devices then paired the ones I wanted up again. My owner's manual came with a separate booklet for the voice command system that walked me through the process, it is however a Pontiac and not a Subaru though. Good luck
  12. Patrick425--do you have your phoned paired with any other devices or speakers? I was having an issue with the bluetooth in my car a couple of weeks ago and had to remove all paired devices and then re-pair them starting with my car first. Seemed to solve my problem--which was that my phone wouldn't stay connected viz the bluetooth so it was a bit of a different problem but hopefully the solution might work for you. BTW--how much do you love having bluetooth in your car. I've had mine for about 3 years and when I initially bought the vehicle I thought it was a nice feature but had no idea how much I would really come to rely on the bluetooth on a daily basis.
  13. Don't want to derail the thread too much but, I keep reading that Crawford won't be back next year. Was there a set back with his surgery or did they find something unexpected when they opened up his arm? Everything that I've heard is that position players can expect to be back on the field a little over 6 months after TJ surgery which would have him ready around Spring Training 2013 if not shortly after the season starts. If you look back on recent position players to have TJ, Tony Womack and Xavier Nady were both out about 6-8 months. Even if Crawford was able to play to begin next season, I don't think this trade is going to be good for the Dodgers in the long run but it is interesting to see the Red Sox making moves to dump payroll during a season.
  14. I accidentally ran over a Yuniesky baseball card with the vacuum last week and know it sucks more than ever!!!
  15. I'm watching 669-1 in HD here in central WI. Must be some sort of geographic thing? Maybe certain places are losing HD feeds on regional networks due to DTv using extra HD slots for Olympic coverage. Weird. I'm in Stevens Point area and have nothing but the Directv logo on 669-1.
  16. So the game is blacked out for me on TBS, which is fine, but Directv is only carrying it on 669 and not in HD. I forgot how big of a difference it was watching in SD. First World problems all around
  17. Weird Al Yankovic at the Central Wisconsin Fair in Wausau around '93 or so. Was a blast.
  18. You may not want to hear this, but for new subscribers it is actually free for the first year. I had that great pleasure last season and had told myself that I would never spend $350 on it. Now that it's on $200 I am really thinking about dropping down the cash for it. Trying to figure out how to convince the wife that it's too good of a deal to pass up.
  19. mtrebs--I actually live just outside of Point and can tell you that as long as you have a clear view of the southeastern sky where you can point the dish, you should have very few issues with DirecTv. We've had it here for about a year now and have maybe lost the signal 3 times for maybe 5-10 minutes each over that year. The big storm we had last summer was another story, but not much DirecTv could have done about that one. I also have a HughesNet internet dish, and I lose my internet signal much more frequently during bad weather than the TV signal. I think it's a combination of the new receivers and better broadcast strength for DirecTv makes them much more reliable than they were in the past.
  20. None of those quotes are mine. Not one of them. The "civil" comment I made was directed at another poster who questioned my honesty. You quoted posts that may have been made in this thread, but none of them were mine. I didn't say any of the quotes were yours. I was actually agreeing with you that we should keep things civil, not just to each other as posters but civil overall in a true baseball discussion instead of resorting to name calling. Sorry if that didn't come across the way I intended, but I was certainly on your side of keeping things civil.
  21. Lets keep this civil please. Roenicke, you ***** idiot. Good job leaving him in. Back to back to back home runs. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ After back to back home runs, Thornburg should have never been in to pitch to Encarnacion. But our manager is a mental midget. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Anybody with half a brain would think "hmm, 23 year old making his first MLB appearance. 70 + pitches already, back to back home runs, and a big masher coming up. Let's pull him. He's done well, kept us in the game". But noooooooooooooooooooooooo, not the sloth Ron Roenicke. His brain operates on "slow". ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Result? Three home runs in a row, and now we're behind because our idiot manager couldn't outmanage Terry Schiavo. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ I think we may be well beyond the keeping things civil line and those quotes are only from today's IGT. Not sure where the need to be civil to people on the board comes from when several posters feel free to constantly rag on the manager in very uncivil ways because they don't agree with his decisions.
  22. 1. Carlos Gomez 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. John Steinmiller 7. 8. Rickie Weeks 9. Yovanni Gallardo 10. Ryan Braun 11. 12. 13. Marco Estrada 14. George Kottaras 15. Kameron Loe 16. 23. http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss317/blancofan1/th_80sBrewCrew--numbered.jpg?t=1339551914 Added numbers to see what we can come up with for the list of names to go with the faces. Link to a larger photo http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss317/blancofan1/80sBrewCrew--numbered.jpg?t=1339550113 Edit--Apparently I don't know photobucket very well and can't get a link to a much bigger picture. I also have a hard time posting larger pics on the new board. Perhaps someone else can get a clear, larger picture posted or linked.
  24. Heard them talking about Mark Ellis' injury during the game and it peaked my interest to look into it a bit farther. I had no idea it was nearly as bad as it apparently was. If he didn't have surgery within six or seven hours of when he did, he may have had to have his leg amputated! That's crazy when they thought he had sprained his knee and it could have turned that ugly. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/dodgers-lose-ellis-least-six-082036613--mlb.html;_ylt=AkM2eIFrhLkqconQNz9tVEuFCLcF
  25. It doesn't make sense to sit a catcher the caliber of Lucroy once every 5 games. He can play more than that, especially with scheduled off days mixed in. Luc should be catching 135-140 games. That won't happen with this setup. Take a look at good catchers like Yadier Molina. 140, 136, and 139 starts the last 3 seasons. That's what Luc should be doing. Not the 120-125 or so Luc will end up getting, because he'll end up sitting some day game after night games too in certain situations. Only problem with that is the actual math. Lucroy has played 37 out of 41 games this season, that's 90.2% of the games. Over 162 game season Lucroy is on pace to play 146 games. Not trying to be confrontational, I just think the way Lucroy is being used is good for the team and it sure seems to be working for him.
