  1. No. Suppan has been pretty damn good (when it's really counted) the past month and a half. He's doing what they asked of him. He's probably pretty immovable anyways, given his contract, but I suppose anything is possible.
  2. I guarantee most of us here have more arm strength than Estrada. He also has awful mechanics before he throws, probably why he lobs it to second.
  3. Carlos Gonzalez is as untouchable as it gets, I would have to imagine. Quentin, that's a different story. I don't think Justin Upton is quite ready for the big leagues yet, so maybe they want to keep Quentin until next year's trading deadline, when Upton should be 100% ready. I'd love to add Quentin, though, and because he's been injured this year, perhaps his trade value is as low as it gets.
  4. Yeah, I can't wait to show Lou Gehrig!
  5. Deservedly so. He's been among the worst defenders for shortstops this season.

  7. Jose, Jose Jose Jose!
  8. Just gotta get there first. But I'd love for the Brewers to take on the DBacks or Pads. They're probably the most beatable teams of the teams most likely to get in.
  9. Spicy Italian, toasted at Subway is sooo good.
  10. Who You Crappin' is always one of my favorite segments on the Score. It would be nice to see this thread get going.
  11. Front office needs to step up and sign Fielder and Braun to the same deals that Jose Reyes and David Wright got. Buying out their first year or two of FA is very smart thinking with the way the market is.

  13. Ray King used correctly > Bob Wickman. I can't believe I'm hearing all this Wickman talk. He's not good, and he's certainly not better than what the Brewers currently have. He allows way too many baserunners.
  14. I'm just looking at the 2008 FA class, and a few interesting names come up. For outfield help, how about Milton Bradley or Aaron Rowand? Stick Hall in left, let Rowand play center. Immediate upgrade in defense and OBP, and he's got some power. I know the White Sox are going to make a play for him, and it sounds like they really want him back, so they may be the biggest competition. I imagine he'll get a pretty fat contract. There's almost no starting pitching worth going after, so maybe a trade could get done to acquire another arm. There's plenty of good relievers, but perhaps none more interesting than Kerry Wood, who is a free agent. What about an incentive-laden contract for one year? He's still got his lights out stuff, it's just a matter of him staying healthy, which is why you give him a low base salary with a bunch of performance incentives. I wouldn't mind that at all.
  15. Is about to have elbow surgery, so that's a concern.
  16. Even though he's had a down year offensively, he's going to command well over $100 million, way out of the Crew's price range. I'll take an improving Bill Hall at $6 per year.
  17. Wickman would've been just what the Brewers needed: another pitcher who allows too many baserunners.
  18. I'm a huge fan of keeping Capuano. He's better than this. Let's take a look at a couple stats of his. - His strikeouts/9 are way up this year (8.03/9), and that's by far his best ratio since 2004, in limited action. - He's getting 1.24 groundballs to every fly ball, his highest total since 03 in limited action with the DBacks. This is a good/bad thing. Good because you always would prefer a groundball to a fly ball, but bad because Milwaukee's infield defense is so bad. I attribute this number to why he really hasn't been as bad as his ERA suggests. Make braun and Fielder average defenders, he has a lower ERA for sure. - He's allowing over 10 hits per 9 innings, a career high. Capuano's always going to give up hits because he doesn't have overwhelming stuff. He's averaged around 9 hits per 9 in his career, so this is telling me either a) he's reached his peak (not likely; he's only 29), or b) the defense is bad behind him. I'll go with the latter. - He's not allowing as many homeruns this year (18) as he has in the past. That's a good thing. - He's already walked more this year (48) than he did all of last year (47). The combo of him walking too many batters plus giving up more than 10 hits per 9 is troubling. Maybe he's trying too hard this season to make the perfect pitch because he knows the defense behind him might not make the play. I like Capuano a lot and think he's a fine 3 or 4 starter for this team next year. And at the price they'll be paying him, he's worth hanging on to. Vargas, on the other hand...
  19. The Mets happen to be my least favorite team, even behind the Yankees and Cubs.
  20. Usually if a player gets traded that many times, it's a smack in the face. But with Lofton, I think it's different. He's wanted by every team because he is incredibly valuable on the team. He steals bases, hits for an average, and plays an adequate CF. Whether he's a HOF, I just don't know.
  21. Me as well. Chipper is my hero. Go Braves!
  22. I'd pass. He earns 6.5 mil this year, has a Claudio-Vargas-like WHIP, and shouldn't be closing games anymore. He's a FA after this season, so any trade for him would be a waste of a mediocre pitcher for 5 weeks.
  23. The exact true is opposite. He's an All Star catcher waiting to happen. He used to be a below average receiver, but he's gotten a lot better. He's the best catching prospect in baseball by a country mile, and the Rangers would be stupid to play him anywhere else. I think they're sticking mostly with Laird at catcher maybe to showcase him off for teams this offseason.
