  1. #17 not who I would have guessed at all.
  2. I think Block should get Ueck to agree to call the Final game of the season as Harry Doyle if they some how aren't eliminated by then.
  3. I agree it's hard to have thought Roache would come out hitting .352 60PA into the season. But he's still striking out 1/3 ABs, so it really hard to see how he could sustain a high batting average. That said if his power is playing getting up to being a .260 hitter would make him pretty useful, so there I can still get excited that he might be developing some.
  4. I wonder if the cold impacted Kodi's first inning?
  5. We're effectively closing in on two months of the most spectacularly inept baseball in Brewer history. There's a certain twisted beauty in it.
  6. Carlos Leal maybe in danger of working himself into Woah Solvd territory if he isn't careful.
  7. This does indeed feel like the polar opposite of last year, and ridiculously bad start for a .500ish team instead of beginning ridiculously hot.
  8. I remember when the Brewers used to get extra base hits.
  9. I was pretty down on Roache coming into the year, and there is still plenty of room for caution, but with his super late birthday he is only 23, and even with AA being pretty well stocked in the OF I would imagine he could get a midseason promotion of he continues to hit for a solid average to go with the power. That said his K numbers are still really high, so it would be nice to see those drop a little bit as a sign he has made some good adjustments and is ready to move forward.
  10. This weeks Arrow (CW) featured a classic Brewers reference. I am willing to admit my wife caught it before me.
  11. I could see the high average holding up better in Brevard then some other offensive profiles, so that is definitely a plus for the possibility of him moving a little bit quicker. Any idea on where the defense rates overall? The huge boost from Cirillo was that he has a well above average defender to go with the high OBP. I'd take that combo at 3rd everytime.
  12. I'm glad they were willing to pivot that quickly on the position switch too often it seems in these situations teams will let a college guy struggle for a few years before giving them a chance switching over. at which point they are already in the mid 20's and playing in low-A.
  13. On the positive side DeMuth seems to have found his high batting average stroke again.
  14. Extended Spring could certainly be an option as well.
  15. Nice to see some hitting outside of Adam Lind. And Nice nights from Wang and Wagner
  16. It maybe a a made up idea, but if there was ever a team where a made up idea actually had a chance it would be the Padres. I like the 2 pitchers approach, particularly adding to starter depth. Not sure how it would affect the teams chances for this year, but it's not hard to imagine Arcia being ready sooner rather than later.
  17. I'd say what is somewhat intriguing about the combo of players the Brewers have is that pretty much any win total between 70-90 has a very similar likelihood. The win totals may favor the lower end a bit just because a slower start would seem to make it more likely to sell off some of the good veteran assets, whereas at least right now there aren't glaring holes where than would be a huge obvious upgrade in a trade if they start hot. It just feels different than last years about .500 squad because you could imagine a bunch of things going really well and it not being a huge stretch just like it's not too hard to imagine a couple of injuries and other bad luck torpedoing the team.
  18. It's supposed to be a down talent year, so I wonder what sorts of draft strategies one might do with multiple picks. I'm not sure in that environment if you are better off spreading the risk around hoping to get something or see if you can't go for broke on 1 high end guy/ signability and really going cheap with the other 2.
  19. Lot's of position guys to follow that's for sure, certainly some interesting pitchers but the position guys...
  20. The only recently relevant dynasty type team not on that list is UCONN. Indiana and UCLA haven't been on that level for awhile, so absolutely win or lose this has to go down as an all time great run.
  21. I got Sling TV just so I could watch the game, worth every penny.
  22. Outside of the small number of truly proven and reliable relievers having a number of guys with options at the back-end not only gives you injury flexibility, but makes it easier to let those guys work out ruts in the minors. AKA riding the hot hand makes a fair amount of sense with bullpen guys.
  23. I haven't done a complete analysis, but there is a decent sized crop of mid rotation guys who will be starting in AA at some point this year. If one combines that with Aram retiring it's not too hard to see some substantial dollars being freed-up to possibly add veterans at 1st/3rd. It's far from a guarantee, but a solid to good year of development on the farm and it is possible to envision the team continuing in the mold of the last few years. They'll need to take some risks at some point unless someone really surprises because the eventual decline of Braun, loss of Gomez and probably Lucroy are important obstacles to being competitive in future years.
  24. I think the worst part is that most of the 'lessons' one might learn from the kids perspective are entirely negative.
  25. Considering a number of us go back to the ESPN message board days we are getting close to 20 years of history... For example from the old FanFests my youngest Brewerfan is now a Freshman in college. I think the more impressive thing is that somehow this has all kept going over the years.
