With the off day I'd assume everyone but Ashby is available on Monday. Probably looking at more 1 inning appearances, but we've got 3 arms who haven't even pitched out of the pen yet. And at least in short bursts I have reasonable confidence they can get the job done. Ultimately it is a must win game for the Rays at this point, and even if Freddy doesn't have a hiccup I'd be surprised if he can make it through the 5th before we wear him down.

Miz 6 shutout innings game 1, Logan battles 5 innings tomorrow up 2-0. Freddy charms his way to a game 3 win, before Woody spurred on by Ueck's ghost confounds the Rays in game 4 long enough to hand it back to the pen. Miz closes it out with a game 5 no hitter. MLB network opts to stop showing baseball movies and just replays the Brewer season in perpetuity.

Certainly if Patrick didn't fall off in September I can't imagine this decision going the same way, but then it probably would have been Harrison. For a long time power guy he really seemed to transition to still being effective with lower velocity really quickly. So unbalance my head and heart are in the same place on this one. Ultimately pitch him so we got all the storybook moments. I wouldn't even be surprised at this point if people are stopping the game films to try and spot Ueck's ghost watching over Woody.

I was amused to find a chatbot/ AI slop post Promoting Turang for MVP. The kicker is that its on another message board that had no direct WI or Brewers connection and it has nothing to do with sports.

Regardless of outcome there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic that we can get back to the World Series again. But it is a hard thing to do. I wouldn't ignore CBA ramifications, but seemingly regardless of sport the biggest difficulty in repeating comes down to good ol' Branch Rickey 101 it's better to trade a guy 1 year too early than a year too late. We have a lot of complimentary pieces, and being able to slowly cycle those guys out without turning them into expensive Brewer lifers is critical and it seems our front office recognizes that as well as anyone.

Freddy is still Freddy, so a walk or 2 plus a first inning HR is a real possibility. And of anyone we should be able to make him throw a ton of pitches.

I'm happy for Freddy, but with as messed up as he was there is no guarantee that he would have responded as well coming back here.

Those WAR numbers really surprised me. But even without that track record of developing catchers, I just can't see paying for the decline.
