  1. I had mentioned this elsewhere, Bob but I strongly believe as part of whatever system the Brewers have going on there is more behind the scenes that explains the pattern of when and how to publicly discipline. Players aren't stupid and if it truly was an arbitrary double standard there would be signs of dissent.
  2. Well things line up similar enough already. Dunn's career line actually looks a lot closer to a normal stat line these days. The slash line for Dunn and Alonso for example is pretty close. More walks for Dunn and more SLG for Alonso
  3. Clearly the Pratt benching had the desired effect on getting Gary to hustle.
  4. Well if it's a rebuilding year we could probably trade North Side Baseball for some prospects...
  5. Based on it not creating issues, I have a strong belief that behind the scenes there are other things involved that make it all seem less arbitrary.
  6. The 7 games remaining will keep the Cubs in it, but if they are still 6 games back heading into the head to head I'd rate that as needing to win 5 of them if I were the Cubs. Just looking at the math. There's 15 games left after all our head to head games. So while winning the head to head 4 to 3 would also give the Cubs the tie-breaker. It still only shrinks the lead by a game. And making up 5 games in 15 is tough. That said I'd love to sweep the Braves this weekend and basically eliminate them from catching us for playoff seeding.
  7. I don't read too much into the power numbers at this stage partly due to youth, but more importantly as described in a number of the articles on the site the team has consistently asked the rookies basically to focus on contact and pitch recognition after getting called up and then later gives them the OK to swing harder.
  8. Bauers for 1 year is reasonable, but we have too many guys who are close that could match or exceed what he is giving us that I don't think any multi year deal makes sense.
  9. If Wild Bill and Yelich could have the same type of resurgence as Ortiz we'd only be able to complain about Murphy's managing.
  10. I don't fault anyone for thinking Joey needed something else. Very different than other critical comments
  11. Luckily Sanchez got an off day yesterday
  12. I guess the Brewers Mariners decided to play a throw back series. Scoring runs like it's the 90s
  13. I'm excited for the Braves game tomorrow, looks like the only one I can get to in person this year.
  14. I'll guess John Olerud
  15. 3 run HRs by Yeli and Hamilton just like we all predicted
  16. Months of dogging it at the plate to deke the opposing manager to leaving a spent starting pitcher in. Well played Yeli
  17. Does Joey get double credit there? First keeping the ball on the infield to set up the double steal and second a great tag to bailout a bad throw?
  18. Bill should have went to second on that play instead of watching
  19. Bauers is getting calls from Packers training camp after that trip around the bases.
  20. Given that the ump called almost the exact same pitch for a strike right afterwards, was the curve just so good it fooled Wild Bill?
  21. QO is reasonable, though I would guess he tries to sign somewhere else for a big payday.
  22. Flipping things around here, there is a pretty healthy chance 1 of the group between Burke, Fischer, and Adams doesn't do much at the MLB level. My only preference is that they try and bring those guys up in a way that gives them each at least a fair shot.
  23. Carlton Fisk, never really dug into him on the stats side until now, but he was a force at age 40-42.
  24. Great slide by Turang. I still give the game ball to Lara for that catch
