    I'm solidly in the we don't need to win today, but I really want to. On any given night things might not work, but mentally they are ready to just keep coming right back. They avoided the big losing streaks this year and had multiple exhausting 3 week parts of the schedule, so they are ready. The LA guys already have their rings and contracts...

    My wife was very amused with Ohtani's batting stance, which seemed more awkward than in the past. She compared it to 'dance frames' from Dirty Dancing. Which was pretty accurate

    Given that he can do pitch a little more than a typical reliever 90 above average leverage innings is not super far off the value of 150-160 innings of solid starter (which given the walks is about the best you could hope for). Going off the MLB leader board for innings players 26-50 went from 174-158.2

    One of the posters at the time was at the game and had a perfect side angle shot in the moment you could tell the punt was being blocked which is why it sticks in my head so well. Best picture of the game was from a fan

    For me that was on par with the Badgers blocking the punt of the Gophers to win the game photo from 10-15 years ago.

    Lengthen the ABs create traffic is definitely the way to go against the Dodgers. Force the manager to ride those starters longer than they are used to or turn it over to the pen sooner. I expect more late game action again.

    I believe in this case the more appropriate comparison is what percentage of runs the teams actually playing in the playoffs used HR in the regular season not the entire league. I have no idea if that changes anything, but it wouldn't surprise me to discover that playoff teams used the HR more in the regular season too.

    I'm rooting for back to back nights of 15 inning games for Cubs and Padres. The scores matter less at that point

    Can anyone recall a team 3 games into a season needing to sign 2 offensive linemen not caused by injury? Small credit to management for accepting reality that they screwed up bad. But the real shareholders need to remember the part where they screwed up on football 101 badly.

    All the teams are good on the NL side, so no preference here. It's not hard to imagine how each team wins a series. We've showed up the Cubs plenty, so there is no special dread for me. our offense can go cold enough and any of the teams can luck into just enough HRs or even a flukey defensive miscue and take the series against our pitchers.

    For whatever it's worth if we get a ring I'd give one to Bryse even though he shouldn't make a playoff roster. He willingly and acceptably filled an important role

    I believe Murph knows his players super well and picks his spots for the public stuff. It's not like he does it that often compared to years ago. And given how often he's been chided for not doing those things it just makes way more sense to me that he's actually really good at the people side and is using that info we just don't have.
