    So great in the sense of directly comparable to the best seasons put up by the HOFers of the last 40 years... I can live with that.

    My recollection is that notion got started with Albert Pujols (15 PAs at AAA), but doesn't reflect the reality that those top prospects usually still spend some time there. You have a lot of 4A guys in AAAA to be sure, but prospects aren't systematically skipping that level.

    I was curious if there was a possible angle where the lockout might make May more interested than usual than picking up the mutual option? He doesn't have that much track record partially due to injuries. So maybe in the face of a lockout if things go well do both sides call it good at the $20 million?

    Tampa hasn't quite been able to match that, but in some fairness I don't know if we'd have quite the same streak if we had to play in the AL East

    As much as I like Burke, Adams, and Fischer I don't know that right away they would be able to outhit what Bauers is doing this year. I don't expect Bauers to ever hit quite this well again in fairness. Made would also be challenged to out produce what Pratt has done so far in MLB. A few years down the line though is a different prediction at those positions, but still a prediction.

    My bigger concern with the entire process here is that the OP thought process only seems to acknowledge probability going 1 way. Which is to say he cited the Brewers as underdogs, which I'm fine with but the words imply that it will take a fluke. Yet the odds are almost certainly close to 60-40 which isn't a big split. And importantly if we some how acquired Scwarber for Yelich at DH and the prefered Brooks Lee at 3rd. At best the odds would tilt 60-40 towards us. The record of actual World Series winners the last 25 years is filled with a wide variety of teams with different levels of offense and pitching with different records going into the post season. There is no team of destiny, heck we could get past the Dodgers this year and still have to deal with a frustrating loss to an inferior team from the AL in the World Series. Baseball is just more random in that regard then football.

    I won't be surprised if Fischer washes out, but I'd much rather enjoy those 40 HRs for our team if he doesn't compared to feeling bad if Pena can get to a Brice Turang level or maybe even a bit better. The health issues this season also open the door for me to the chance that Pena doesn't work out. So for me if we need a big splashy name to get a big time contributor it works.

    I don't mind a headliner type in the deal, and I could live with Pena being that player, but a big no on Fischer. Wilken sure and even some others.

    Without having a great way to model your hypothetical I'd say it's still pretty close to the Brewers chances of winning the series right now about 40% maybe 45%. Injuries between now and the playoff series can easily affect the odds as much as any single bat they might find.

    Goodman fits what I would expect a 'big' trade to look like from the Brewers. Unexpected direction, but if you make a couple of other adjustments it helps now and in the future. Bonus points if you get Webb before tomorrow's start that's practically 1 WAR right there.

    Nothing wrong with having Frelick and Lockridge as 4th and 5th OFers. But looking at options coming up from the minors, current service time etc. And you certainly can start seeing what value Frelick has, since there are multiple players getting closer who can likely match or exceed his production.
