Every team can use a guy that gets on base once every two times, even a NL team that could only use him as a bench bat. Can't imagine they would even attempt to use the productivity card when Bonds lawyer would just show the prior year stats.

Being forced to retire when he had a .480 OBP the year before is kind of ridiculous. The owners are not alone though, Baseball Reference has him as the 110th best player of all time just ahead of Rusty Staub and Bobby Bonds.

Jonathan Lucroy Trade Challenge

Going back to the Mariners, there are definitely fans in the Seattle area not happy with the catching situation and the way Zunino has played. This weekend was one of his worst yet with a 4 strikeout day Friday and 0-5 on Saturday. There were definitely expectations for this team this year and they are not really meeting them and know that the Mariners need production at the C position to get there. Don't know if Lucroy is their answer but I think they are feeling the pressure over there and may make a reactionary trade by the deadline to try to appease some. -
That came back to bite them, probably would have pinch hit for Maldonado if they could have. Key point of the game.

Often times it is a struggle to pick an all star on a bad team but no matter the record if Lind keeps this up he would be an all star on any team.

Jorge Lopez as well. Just a real solid hitting and pitching on that team. Regarding Hall, it is nice that the Brewers were able to keep him after removing him from the 40 man, most certainly will have to be added after this season with the season he is having. I guess B. Hall can pitch.

Looking at the schedule for May if they are going to make a run this will probably be the month to do it, lots of series they could win coming up.

Jonathan Lucroy Trade Challenge

The Mariners have been pretty horrible at the catcher position so they could potentially target him but looking at their prospects they appear to have a worse farm system than the Brewers. I like Edwin Diaz and they have a couple of decent catching prospects but they need much more than that. I wonder how badly the Brewers want to get rid of Braun, maybe if they package Lucroy with Braun a trade could get done, as Ackley is terrible in left as well. -
I would think they would go the rule 5 route as well if they get the top pick.

Carlos Gomez Activated, Luis Jimenez DFA'd

Should be interesting to see who they demote when Gennett is activated. I would imagine Gomez sticks with Jimenez now gone. Maybe send Rogers back down to continue to work at third, plus he has options. -
Definitely don't agree, even if he fails it wasn't a very forward thinking move. They take one step forward with Wang then another step back with Banda. There is no reason for the Brewers to have traded a promising left hander for a backup outfielder that Schafer often plays ahead of. On a small scale it shows everything that is wrong with the way the Brewers do things.

Thankfully the Luis Jimenez experiment has come to an end. I'll be optimistic in thinking that Jason Rogers will be able to improve on defense because he can sure hit.

Cubs do not play a Friday night home game all year. Don't think it is allowed.

Better to be a Bucks than Spurs fan right now, Spurs on the elevator down and Bucks are on the rise. It's going to be a rough road for the Spurs.

Just dumb to throw him in the trade like they did. Both Wang and Banda are at A+ now and they did everything to keep Wang but basically just give Banda away plus Banda isn't on the 40 man. Just embarrassing when their pitching in the minors has been so pathetic for so long. Made a couple of small trades last summer but they were both pretty bad.

I wonder if Jimenez is the one to go when Gomez comes back this weekend.

Wily Peralta could be part of the core but he is really struggling right now, I think he should be sent to the minors for about a month and a half.

Knight was hurt and played like garbage with the Suns, I don' think they would be in any better position.

If he pitched well maybe he would have brought something at the deadline. Of course they probably would have released Wooten to bring him up so maybe not worth the risk or potential benefit.

I'm not going to be too hard on the Brewers on this one. They could have just saw how he pitched and released him, instead they agreed right away to let him catch and let him hit on a regular basis since day one. It is not too uncommon to give up on 30th round draft picks rather soon.

It is kind of interesting that he may end up being one of the main people responsible for the collapse and ultimately one of the main people responsible for the resurgence with the last draft and signing of Lara.

Lohse pitched well and Ramirez homered. These are the types of games they need to continue to have if they want to end up on a good team the second half of the year.

I gladly take this year's losing Wisconsin team over a team like Huntsville last year that wins a bunch of games. Of course having a team like Biloxi that has talent and wins is even better.

I think the Brewers should aim for higher upside pitchers, don't think the Brewers should make the trade just to possibly open up another trade with Lucroy down the road.

I will admit being wrong worrying about him. At this point he is one of the few things keeping me interested in the big league club.
