  1. I'm not defending Charter here, but I have never had that issue with their broadcasts.
  2. I live in Plover and have had Charter for around 10 years now. Believe it or not, I don't have too many complaints. I would like to have the NFL network, but don't need it. I have all the other channels that I really wanted, including FSN HD. I would like to more HD channels, but they do have a decent selection. If you pay the $5.00 extra per month for the upgrade from a digital receiver to an HD receiver you get all the standard cable channels that they offer in HD for free (the network stations, FSN, TNT, HGTV, ESPN, ESPN2, etc). I did look into getting DISH or DirectTV a while ago to see if it would save me any money, and since I have cable and high-speed internet with Charter, it is cheaper than one of the satellite companies. If I get rid of the cable, my internet bill would have gone up like $20 per month which negated any savings there could have been from a dish. I also tend to get pretty good package deals through Charter. When a deal that I am on expires, I call them up and ask if there are any packages that contain the things that I need. If I don't like what I hear, I just call back and try again with someone else.
  3. I was very excited when I found out that the CC celebration would be a bobblehead this year. I have been a life-long Brewers fan...I'm 30 right now so I don't remember the early 1980's years, but ever since I can remember I've followed the Brewers big time. Being up near Stevens Point I didn't get to see many games in person growing up, and not having cable until college (in 1997 when MSC started showing Brewers games) I didn't even get to see many games on television very often, but I still always caught the sports on the news to see how the Brewers did or I always checked the paper for the box score. Anyway, where I'm going with this is...since I've been watching games on a regular...almost daily...basis from 1997 until now I cannot think of a more memorable and emotional Brewers moment than CC celebrating after the final out of that playoff-clinching game. That moment and being at the closing of County Stadium are the two Brewers moments that had me teary-eyed. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking of the CC celebration right now (I can't imagine what I'd feel if the Brewers ever won the WS). In my opinion that's what makes it the best moment of the 2000's. That whole playoff run was magical and had plenty of great moments, but to me none of them compare. Another nice thing about the CC bobblehead is that since he was only here for half a season, they never were able to release one in a Brewers uniform. I'd find it hard to believe that if he would have been on the Brewers in 2009 he wouldn't have had a bobblehead.
  4. Of course I had to have a Cubs fan sitting right in front of me. Every time the Rockies would score or get a big out he'd stand up and clap and make sure everyone around him saw. I can't imagine going to another team's stadium when they weren't playing the Brewers and vocally rooting against the home team...but then again I'm not a Cubs fan so I can't comprehend why it seems that many of them think that this is a good idea.
  5. I believe the lots "officially" open 3 hours before game time, even for Opening Day. They do let you in earlier when it becomes a traffic problem though, so you should be able to get in before 10:00 AM. I bought a general parking pass when individual tickets became available and they said there were no more preferred-parking passes available, so if you want to park in the lots you probably want to get there early.
  6. When I first read this, I thought it meant Bill Pulsipher...
  7. Good news regarding the Brewers license plates (hopefully the link works): http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/business/89079132.html
  8. Unbelievable...after waiting on hold for more than 20 minutes it sounded like I was going to get put through. I had my phone on speaker mode and I tried to turn it off and it went to 3-way calling with my voicemail...I tried to close the voicemail and it disconnected everything! Here I go again...
  9. I had the same problem. I had two computers going and eventually got through on one of them after hitting continue on each one for about 5 to 10 minutes. I'm trying to order 18 tickets to the August 29 game (Sabathia bobblehead game) for a group outing and I want them in two rows back-to-back. It took me about 15 minutes of call - get cannot connect message - redial until I got connected. Now I'm on hold for about 15 minutes. I remember buying Opening Day tickets online with no issues about 5 years ago. I guess it's a good thing that the team is better and there's more fans, but it sure is frustrating trying to get the tickets you want.
  10. For fans of The Office...is that pronounced sab-er or saab-re? Dunder-Mifflin/Sabre http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. I bought the Polish shirt at Miller Park last summer for myself. It hurt a little bit to spend $30 on a t-shirt, but I thought the shirt was pretty cool.
  12. I would agree that it was a guy. It looked like the wedding was at Paroisse Saint Leon, which I believe is a Catholic church.
  13. The thought of the Brewers moving gets me sick to my stomach. Although it is a possibility that they could move someday, they shouldn't be going anywhere before 2030. That's 20 years away...I'm 30 now and didn't start watching the Brewers until I was around 10 so I have around 20 years of Brewers memories...so 20 more years (hopefuly many more) would be great!
  14. I don't understand why the barrel isn't completely filled in in the 40th anniversary logo. The left half is white, and behind the "M" it turns tan.
  15. It still bothers me that the Wausau Woodchucks were renamed the Wisconsin Woodchucks a few years ago. Most of the teams in the Northwoods League are in Wisconsin...what makes Wausau the "Wisconsin" team?
  16. I don't have any recommendations for luaus on Oahu, but the better ones on Maui book up well in advance, so if you should find one soon and try to book it right away. I would ask the concierge at your hotel which one they recommend.
  17. MJLiverock: Do you have a timeshare or own the property on Maui? Do you ever rent it out...if so, where is it located?
  18. FTA: I'm more upset that Lincecum was driving a 2006 vehicle...boy the economy must really be bad when multi-millionaires have to drive 4-year old vehicles!
  19. Over 83 million Americans over the age of 12 have tried it. I guess I took the original comment as one-third of the U.S. population regularly smokes pot, not that one-third has smoked pot at least once in their lives. That makes more sense.
  20. Is this true...a third of the U.S. population smokes pot? I guess I need to get out more...
  21. I totally agee with paul253. While I'm not stating that this individual did or didn't deserve to be beaten by the police, I find people quick to judge the police when they have to use force to subdue someone. If the police were yelling at me to get on the ground and put my hands behind my back, even if I didn't do anything, I sure would listen and wouldn't mouth off to the police. I watch these cop shows on tv, and I know these shows display the other end of the spectrum for entertainment value, and it amazes me that so many people have no respect for the law. Even watching shows like Parking Wars, for some reason people don't think that they need to follow parking laws or pay parking tickets. I just don't get it.
  22. If you are a size 4XL and have some money to burn, you're in luck... http://cgi.ebay.com/Mitchell-Ness-Brewers-Robin-Yount-Throwback-Jersey-60_W0QQitemZ390092886196QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Men_s_Athletic_Apparel?hash=item5ad35910b4 Otherwise, it may be worth a shot contacting the person running that auction to see if they can get the size you need...but I'm sure it'll still cost you.
  23. I wonder if the girl actually got Howard's 200th ball back, or if the Phillies just gave her a different ball...she'd never know the difference and Howard could have his milestone keepsake.
  24. It may be that they want to just pay it off like they were paying with cash, but get points from using the card. While I'm not disagreeing with you on how interest can work for you, I'd imagine you'd have to have some big credit card bills in order for you to make "serious interest" on the amount that they pay early. If this method works for you, that's great, but I prefer to pay off the debt that I owe ASAP so in case something happens I don't have to worry about where I'm going to come up with the money for these credit card bills. If the interest I'd get would be a lot I'd definately consider waiting to pay the bills off, but for me the peace of mind of having the debt paid off is worth the couple dollars I may earn in interest a month.
  25. I have a friend that when he was just starting his career as a computer programmer, he applied for a loan at a furniture store and they wouldn't give him the loan because he didn't have much of a credit history. It wasn't a big deal because he could pay for what he was buying with cash, but he was going to take the loan because is was 0%. I imagine you could run into similar struggles when purchasing a home, even if you had 20% down payment, if you didn't have a credit history. That being said, you have to be responsible with your credit. Credit cards can be a very useful tool if you use them correctly and are very strict with paying them off in full and in time. If you aren't a responsible person you can get yourself in big trouble, so it's probably best to avoid using them.
