  1. Charter was supposed to release FSN HD along with 4 other HD channels, add some digital non-HD channels, and restructure their channel order all at the same time according to the one mailing. They sent a postcard a couple weeks after stating that only the FSN HD and some of the digital channels would be done on time. They did not specify when they others would happen. I'm glad the one they got in time was FSN HD.
  2. My wife and I tried getting tickets to today's game over a month ago and there weren't even standing-room-only tickets available then via brewers.com. By coincidence the alternate game that we picked (9/7/2008) happened to be a bobble-head day too and only had standing-room-only tickets available for that day (at least for two adjacent tickets). We ended up overpaying on StubHub just to get to go see the Brewers play in person again this year.
  3. I don't think they'd allow people to storm the field now. Obviously if everyone went running towards the field there's no way of stopping it, but I just don't see that happening. I was hoping that we could have done that for the last game at County Stadium, but they had a lot of security around the perimeter of the field so it didn't happen. I think one person jumped the fence during the game and they received their $500.00 fine. I'm sure they will have plenty of security on hand if/when we get to that point. This is unfortunate because things like storming the field are things that make the years past the "good-old-days" and you just don't see that happening anymore.
  4. I heard that gal couldn't get a word in edge-wise between the slurred "you knows". Then her real boyfriend showed up and a fight ensued. He probably could've gotten the better of the dude in the fight, but he swung and missed. The more likely scenario is he swung and missed on the first two swings and then locked up and watched the dude strike him out cold.
  5. I'm 29, am married, and have a professional job...and still when I see that name I act how you'd expect a 13-year-old to react.
  6. It should be based on whatever games FSN is broadcasting in HD. I heard that next year all FOX sporting events will be broadcast in HD. I assume this would include FSN.
  7. Up in Stevens Point we have to wait until 8/26 for FSN HD. The mailing we received a little while ago from Charter with all the channel changes said they are all happening on 8/26, but today I received another card from Charter saying that only FSN HD and some other non-HD channels will be available on 8/26. It looks like the other HD channels that were supposed to be added will be released later...at least FSN HD isn't being delayed...yet.
  8. Yes, 'cause having two incomes is whack. Now that I'm married and we have two decent incomes (and my current income is much greater than when I was single), I am much poorer now. How can this be you ask...you get a mortgage, double the car payments, double the gasoline costs, much more in groceries (especially if you were on the mac-and-cheese diet like I was), an astronomical clothing budget for the wife, a something for sale party every other week (Lia Sophia jewelry, cooking parties, candle parties, etc.), home improvements, and endless other expenses that you can't imagine. I figure when I got my professional job right after college is the most wealthy I'll be, possibly until I retire, but maybe for my entire life.
  9. Wow...I've never heard of a name for those before.
  10. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I am right behind a semi on an on-ramp. It obviously takes the semi a while to get up to highway speed so I am accelerating at the same slow rate. The geniuses behind me cannot wait for the semi and me to get on the highway so they cut across the striped white lines that separate the highway from the on-ramp and pull all the way into the left lane. By the time I get on the highway I am up to highway speed and then they are in the left lane, preventing me from moving over, so then I have to slow down because the semi is still accelerating. This seems to happen to me on a weekly basis. This probably bothers me worse than it should, but it's probably because the one time I was pulled over in my life, I was behind a minivan on the on-ramp they were accelerating so slowly that they maybe were going 45 mph when they got to the highway. I floored it and went around the minivan and thankfully was pulled over before I got to too high of a rate of speed. I got a written warning for going over those striped white lines as an illegal lane change. I've never crossed those lines again.
  11. You could try to give Hoffman's Hobbies in Stevens Point a call. They have lots of merchandise and it's a short drive from Wausau.
  12. There is a liquor-store/souvenir shop kitty-corner from New York-New York at the end of a strip mall. That's where we'd stop and pick up some silo cans for our walk down the strip. The prices were reasonable...much better than the $5.00 for a 12 oz. bottle of Miller Lite in a lot of the bigger casinos. A lot of the smaller casinos have a special on beer for around $1.00 a bottle/glass, but that won't help you much in your room.
  13. I think the reason I don't like Krispy Kreme doughnuts is because they are so air-y. If I'm going to waste the calories and indulge in a doughnut I want to get the most dense doughnut I can find.
  14. Am I all alone here, or does anyone else think Krisp Kreme doughnuts (and the Kwik Trip copycat doughnuts) are way overrated? I'd prefer a custard-filled or jelly-filled doughnut from a local bakery anyday over one of those other kind.
  15. This is the exact reason why I got married in May...even though it wouldn't have mattered in 2006 when I got married, but I didn't want to take the chance.
  16. That's worth basically nothing. I don't pay attention to anything coming out of his mouth. I remember back when Davey Lopes was hired, Joe Morgan stated something like "it's nice to see a minority hired as a manager of a major league team, even though Milwaukee barely counts as a major league team". I know we were terrible back then, but come on man! Just now, during the Red Sox/Yankees game, there was a game break discussing today's tennis match (I don't follow tennis so I don't even know who was playing) and then discussing the trade. The other announcer was talking about the big trade and then left it for Joe Morgan to respond and he decided to talk about the tennis match instead. I'd imagine if C.C. were traded to the Red Sox or Yankees Joe Morgan would be talking about it the entire game....boy I hate Joe Morgan.
  17. Did you know John Heffron? No, doesn't ring a bell. The funny thing is that there are so many people that work at Sentry and of all the times that people ask "Do you know so and so", I think maybe 2% of the time I actually know who it is. I looked him up in the employee direectory and couldn't find him there either.
  18. I am a Senior Programmer/Analyst at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point. It seems that they are always looking to add more programmers to their staff, especially if you have an interest in sticking around for a while. They are pretty good at bringing in people for internships or right out of school, so you don't need to have much experience.
  19. In Stevens Point/Plover we can get cable from another company, Solarus, starting a few months ago. They do have the Big Ten Network, the NFL Network, and FSN all in HD, but they do not have all of our local network HD channels (no FOX HD). Plus, they are more expensive than Charter and they make you sign up for a two-year contract. I was hoping that when they came in that they would put pressure on Charter, but they aren't really doing anything to do that.
  20. Yesterday I received a card in the mail from Charter that was asking for what HD channels I'd like to see added to their HD lineup. They listed about 12 different channels including FSN HD and I was supposed to enter the 3 that I'd most like them to add. Of course I put FSN HD as my #1, but I wrote a comment on the card that they should add all of the channels. I'm thinking that they are just going to add the top 3 vote-getters. This way they can say "we are constantly adding more and more HD channels" even though there is no reason they can't add all of them. If they weren't the cheapest option that includes all of my local HD channels for me I'd go another route. I'm up in the Stevens Point/Plover area and Charter is the only provider that has all of the local networks in HD (ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX...the local FOX station doesn't even broadcast their HD channel over the air, only via Charter).
  21. I'm confused by this statement. Doesn't penultimate mean next-to-last? I use that term quite a bit and that's the definition I am always referring to.
  22. I'm going to add on to my original post. Based on what many of you stated, Crocs are extremely comfortable and prevent your feet from swelling/sweating. My whole problem is that they came out and look horrendous. I know that there are newer styles but the ugly style that originally came out spread like wildfire and now they are everywhere. Plus, there are waaaaayyy too many ridiculous colors out there. All those bright neon colors died out in the early 1990's...and they were horrible back then too.
  23. No one that has hit puberty should wear crocs...ever. I don't care if they are the most comfortable thing in the world. They look awful. We had a discussion at work about these one day and we went on their website. I can't believe how many different styles of them they make. They are all awful, but the worst that I saw were meant to look like a dress shoe, yet they still had those stupid holes all over them. Any adult who wears them might as well have a bluetooth on and show everyone how big of a tool they really are.
  24. Looks like you got the first three right in that order! 6/6: L, 4-6 - lose a game they should have won 6/7: L, 2-7 - lose a game handedly 6/8: W, 3-2 - eek out a win I guess the Brewers will win handedly Tuesday against Oswalt with McClung pitching... Do you have any idea on the Powerball numbers? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  25. I use a service from mozy.com to backup my files. For $4.95 a month you can store an unlimited amount of data and the software it pretty cool...you can specify certain folders or even files to back up on whatever schedule you'd like. It runs in the background and does everything for you once you set it up. I believe there is also a free version for up to 1 or 2 GB of data backup.
