  1. For some reason, everytime I see this headline in the forum I read it as "Hitler's Baseball Academy" and I get very confused...
  2. I believe so...I think they even used his name as the character. I also think the other comedian was a real person as well.
  3. Haven't we learned anything the last couple of years? In 6 years, $140M will be chump change by MLB standards. We should just spend, spend, spend now and worry about paying it off later. Anyway, if we can't find a way to pay it off, maybe we could declare bankruptcy and keep on going business-as-usual like the airlines...or maybe we can ask the government for a bail-out. That's what everyone else does...
  4. If you are just trying to get rid of them without throwing them away and not really trying to make money off of them, I may be interested in one or both of them. Crown Royal is my favorite booze and I never even knew it used to be Seagram's Crown Royal. I wouldn't mind trying out some vintage booze. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  5. I never thought a player could only play for the Brewers for half a season (so far) and become such a fan favorite. I can honestly say that I am a C.C. Sabathia fan and will be even when he leaves the Brewers...unless he happens to go to one team. I'll let you figure out what team. If he goes to that team there's no way that I could ever root for him. If he goes anywhere else I will continue to root for him unless it would negatively affect the Brewers.
  6. We have two cats now, but before we got the second one we lived in a very small apartment and our older cat would pee in the bathroom sink every once in a while. She's kind of a crabby old-lady cat so we passed it by as she's upset about being in such a small apartment. When we bought a house we had no problem with this anymore...until we got another cat. If the litter box wasn't spotless or for some other reason she would continue to pee in one of our bathroom sinks on occasion. I found a product online called CatScram that has a motion sensor on it and emits a sound that only cats can hear that they apparently don't like. I put this on the bathroom counter so if she jumped up on the counter it would make the sound and she would take off. It seemed to do the trick so we kept the CatScram device there for a few weeks and then moved it to a different bathroom. Everything was going well until yesterday and there was pee in one of the sinks again. I put the CatScram out again so hopefully that will do the trick. From what I've experienced, cats are very fussy animals. If anything ticks them off they'll let you know about it and it doesn't pay to yell at them or punish them in some other way because they won't learn...even though I know she does stuff on purpose just to get me mad.
  7. I think it will be on display in Milwaukee untile sometime in spring. I went to the exhibit in Chicago around 2001 as well. If you like history at all it is definately worth it. I got one of those cards with a passengers name on it...I did not survive. I plan on going to the museum and checking it out this winter.
  8. Does it say anything in there about his profession?
  9. I'd say they are half-way between a 10 and an 11... In all seriousness, if a 10 fits you comfortably I'd think that a 10.5 would be slightly looser but not too bad. If a 10 is normally on the looser side, a 10.5 may be a little big.
  10. I had to switch to the HTML-view (the button right before Spellcheck) before I pasted the code. Once I did that I switched off the HTML-view and everything looked OK.
  11. Here's the states that I spent at least one night in: Washington D.C. would be included in this as well. http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=t&chs=440x220&chtm=usa&chf=bg,s,336699&chco=cc0000&chd=s:99999999999&chld=CAILWICOGAMIOHAZHIMNNV visited 11 states (22%) Here's the states that I have been in: http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=t&chs=440x220&chtm=usa&chf=bg,s,336699&chco=cc0000&chd=s:999999999999999999999999&chld=CAILWICOGAMIOHAZHIMNNVMOINPAVAIANENMTXWAKSUTWVOK visited 24 states (48%) Create your own visited map of The United States or determine the next president
  12. "The 2008 Brewers did not win a pennant -- they didn't win the division, they didn't win the NL and they didn't win the WS." Correct...but they did win the NL Wild Card. The Wild Card is a position that is won. What I find a little hard to understand in this discussion is that for some reason a lot of folks dismiss it as a consolation prize. It is a ranking of the best of the league that didn't win their division. Should a division championship be ranked higher than the wild card in terms of impressiveness? I'd say so, but I still believe that winning the Wild Card is still impressive and that fans of the 12 other teams in the NL that didn't make the post-season wish they'd be having this discussion right now.
  13. I don't mind the new layout, but it seems like everything kind of runs together. I think that the headlines should be a bit bolder and I think there should be some type of separator (either a line or have shaded backgrounds) for each of the different sections. For example, on the main page it's hard to tell where the Sports section ends and the Business section begins.
  14. If this were the case, wouldn't any team that did not win the World Series just be a "participant" in the post-season? I believe that making the post-season in MLB is a very difficult thing to do so it should be celebrated. I feel that a banner stating "2008 National League Wild Card" should be added next to the 1982 World Series banner. We of all fans should realize the significance of getting to the post-season...
  15. Belts is closed for the season already so don't waste your time trying to find it. It's funny someone mentioned all the "ski" last names in the phone book...I am one of them, but I was showing a co-worker all of the Polish last names in the phone book earlier this week. The sad thing is I have lived in the Stevens Point area my whole life and I can't really recommend something for you to do for a few hours on a weekday. It's not that there is nothing to do here, but most of the nice things in the area involve it's parks, the Wisconsin River, the Green Circle trail, and since the weather is getting bad and you are just passing through I really can't recommend them. If anything I'd recommend going to Grafitti's Sports Bar on Main Street in downtown Stevens Point. It's a nice bar that serves decent food and has some very big screens. I don't know what would be on during the day though. If you like New York style pizza I'd highly recommend going to Polito's (which is just a couple buildings down from Grafitti's on Main Street). They sell pizza by the slice in a lot of different varieties. If you would be coming through in another month, a Tilted Kilt is opening up...I'm sure you could sit around there for a few hours and not get bored.
  16. I agree with this statement...until he signs with the Cubs. Then I will dislike him as much as I dislike the rest of the Cubs. Edited: I guess I didn't get far enough into this thread...you all discussed this possibility.
  17. http://www.philly.com/phi...ls_made_little_noise.html I read the above article from philly.com about how the Brewers fans didn't make that much noise during game 3 of the NLDS last night. Am I missing something here? Are they trying to be sarcastic or are they just lying? It was the loudest and most electric crowd I have ever seen at a sporting event and this writer made it seem like it wasn't loud at all. The following quote from the article sums it up. "The crowd and the noise at sold-out Miller Park weren't factors in the game. It actually wasn't all that loud."
  18. I was at a grocery store tonight and I saw a group of 6 high-school aged guys each buy a 40-pack of toilet paper...I wondering what they were planning on doing tonight? The funny thing was that they were buying some nice Charmin 2-ply toilet paper. Kids must have too much money these days since they can afford to use high-quality toiler paper for their homecoming pranks. First it seems like every high school kid has a nicer car than I do...now they are buying nicer toilet paper than I do too...where does it end?
  19. This is the exact story I heard. I ended up having having someone pick one up and they are sending it to me via 2-day mail. I remember for Opening Day that they said that you should pre-buy parking passes or you may not get into the lot. The thing is that they still sold parking at the stadium and that some people who pre-bought parking still couldn't park in the lots since they got their late (which was stupid on their parts) and that they sold the parking out to people paying at the lots. I wonder if this weekend will be the same situation. Also, I asked and they said the lots are only opening 3 hours before game time. I think this is very stupid to not have an extended amount of time for the amount of people that will be in the lots.
  20. I only have tickets for NLDS Game 3...Section 329, Row 1, Seats 1 thru 4.
  21. 2002 was a cakewalk compared to this. How can you get more frustrated in 2002 when you knew we had a horrible team that had NO chance of making the postseason.I couldn't have said this any better. I remember being at Miller Park during loss number 100 that year thinking it can't get much worse than this....little did I know that having a team that actually has talent let it all slip away time and time again hurts infinitely worse than a team that has no expectations. I thought last year was difficult...this year blows that away.
  22. This is the same reason that my favorite memories of the Brewers were at County Stadium in the late 1990's...I could have a whole section to myself. That being said I probably would prefer a winner to the horrible teams that we put out year after year.
  23. I sure hope that CC pitches on Wednesday. I bought those tickets specifically because he was scheduled to pitch that day...it will be the only chance I'll have to see him pitch in a Brewers uniform in person.
  24. I'm not superstitious...just a pessimist (although I'd consider it more of a realist). I'm thinking that the only reason that it took this long for Sheets bi-annual injury to happen is because it is a contract year. The last couple months have been borderline mediocre for Sheets and that could be a sign that he was having problems for a while now. If so, he may have been hiding it because he doesn't want that to hurt his contract this off-season.
