  1. I can give plenty of compliments to the St. Louis area, plus the entire state of Missouri and southern Illinois too: -They have plenty of Chick-fil-a restaurants in that area. We only have one in Wisconsin. -You can buy a 3-bedroom house for the price of a VCR in some parts of southern Missouri. -Speaking of southern Missouri, and especially the Ozarks region, new jobs in the pharmaceutical field are popping up all the time. (Business does slow down when the supply of pseudoephedrine runs low or the lab blows up.) -I've heard that the St. Louis based restaurant chain Lion's Choice has some delicious roast beef sandwiches. -The City of St. Louis saves it taxpayers money by not purchasing extravagant items like street sweepers. All of those car parts scattered alongside the medians of the Interstate give the city character. -There is a city in southern Illinois named Metropolis. I would love to tell people I was from Metropolis. - Among all of the states, Missouri is now 42nd in the prevention of rickets. Watch out Arkansas, they are coming for you next.
  2. On August 25th, the Cardinals trailed the Braves by 10.5 games. The Braves had a horrible collapse, but the Cardinals still finished the season 23-8. They deserve credit for their play in the stretch run.
  3. DVR'ed MLB Network's coverage of the Division Series. Dan Plesac was going crazy. He is such a homer. I love it. As far as the Crew vs. the Cards, there is bad blood between both teams. Don't think for a moment that the Cards have forgotten about this Tweet from T-Plush. http://twitter.com/#!/TheRealTPlush/status/111638678148882432
  4. This thread is making me laugh. Hate to be a party pooper, but I'll give an honest reply. The Cardinals made an amazing run to make the postseason. Chris Carpenter pitched amazing in Game 5 of the NLDS. Finally, hate me if you wish, but I like the Stan the Rally Squirrel phenomenon. It was a bad omen for the Phillies when a squirrel showed up on the field prior to game 5 in Philadelphia.
  5. Or because they would judge his season and not just one series... I mean what do you want people to say, he was one of the weaker regular SS in baseball all season as expected, he can get hot at the right time and it doesn't mean any criticism is wrong somehow. Nobody wants to see him fail, everyone hopes he hits a HR every single time he comes to the plate, I just don't get where this kind of comment even comes from. It's my understanding that the purpose of this thread was to give him credit for the way he played in the NLDS. Yes, he was one of the worst SS in baseball during the regular season, but he came up big in today's game. I would like the haters to at least admit that.
  6. I've been pulling for Yuni all year. The more people heaped coals on his head, the more I hoped he would come through. He could hit 6 home runs and play A+ defense in the NLCS and certain people would not give him props because they have to save face due to their criticism of him all season.
  7. My stomach is all knotted up in nervousness about Friday. I'm confident, though. Best team in baseball at home with our ace on the mound. Let's not forget that just a few days ago we pounded Kennedy for 8H and 4ER in 6 2/3rd. Brewers can do this. They have to.
  8. Melissa McCarthy was really good in The Nines, also starring Ryan Reynolds.
  9. Less than 24 hours before game 3 and over 1,000 tickets are still available at dbacks.com. For those adventurous and spontaneous types, round trip flights leaving Milwaukee early tomorrow and returning Thursday are going for $259 at Kayak.
  10. Reading the past two in-game threads on that board makes me appreciate the fact we have a language filter here. Bunch of 5th graders.
  11. I thought this was funny. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=19825959
  12. Goody's is multifaceted. It contains aspirin, caffeine, and acetaminophen.
  13. Getting back on topic... Aspirin, ibuprofen, or acetaminophen? You know what bothers me about this board? People are still complaining about the repeated use of aspirin. They complained when aspirin was acquired in the off-season. They complained when aspirin was used Day 1. Complained when aspirin was used on a daily basis months later. Complained when aspirin was used on day 155. Complained when it was used on day 156. I understand that ibuprofen and acetaminophen are just sitting in the medicine cabinet when they appear to be the much better option. I understand that there may be a new and untested pain reliever that is kicking butt in clinical trials. Here is my main point. Some of you have made your opinion known about aspirin repeatedly and on a nearly daily basis. I GET IT. YOU DON'T LIKE ASPIRIN. Most of the same people will not give aspirin credit when it prevents a heart attack. However, if aspirin performs poorly and someone acquires Reye's syndrome at a crucial time, everyone is sure to know. Why complain daily? The CEO of Bayer does not read this board. Your repeated complaining does nothing except bother some of the regular readers. One more thing I want to discuss and that's Goody's Headache Powder. Goody's has been around for years and years and has seen all there is in the world of pain relief. Goody's has a long history of performing well. Members here complained when Goody's was purchased. Why is Goody's taking up space in the medicine cabinet? There are better options available! Granted, when Goody's was first used early on this year, the results weren't great. Goody's was a replacement because of a temporary recall on aspirin. Once aspirin was reinstated, Goody's went back into the medicine cabinet. Later in the season, Goody's excelled in its role. Sometimes, aspirin needed a break and Goody's filled in well. When there was that terrible headache and all seemed lost, Goody's was used and came through in the clutch.
  14. The weather forecast was a little frightening, but we only received sprinkles throughout the rally. The first few thousand fans received rally towels with "2011 Division Champs" written on it. Once those ran out, fans were getting small Brewers/Miller Lite signs. Crowd was estimated around 8,000 or so. Probably 75% or more left after the Brewers left the stage. Not a whole lot of people stuck around for Five for Fighting. The crowd was into the rally throughout. Besides Nyjer, I thought Jerry Hairston was the star of the show. Very witty. The only downer of the rally was the guy standing next to me and my buddy. Not an exaggeration, he smoked nine cigarettes in less than an hour. I hate cigarette smoke, and this guy was sucking down heaters like his life depended on it.
  15. The best record in franchise history: Your 2011 Milwaukee Brewers
  16. Shopko is running a 25% off sale on all of their sports merchandise, including NL Central Champs gear. T-shirts, glasses, window clings, pennants, caps, shot glasses, etc are all 25% off.
  17. I encourage those who haven't been to Kauffman Stadium yet to try to make it down for the Brewers/Royals series in 2012. It's about a 9 hour drive from Milwaukee. Kauffman Stadium is great. Kauffman and Fenway are my two favorite MLB stadiums. There are many other reasons for you to attend the series. The Royals have a loyal, knowledgeable, and friendly fan base. 8 of their current top 10 prospects are projected to make the 2012 squad. Current rookies Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas are only going to get better. You finally get your chance to wear your Brewers Escobra jersey. Most importantly, you get to see another team get Yosted in person.
  18. If you think nobody would question Wolf's toughness if he took himself out of the game after being HBP, you have too much faith in sports fans. Did you read any message board comments and/or listen to any talk radio after the Packers/Bears playoff game? Bears fans burned his jersey in the street. Jay Cutler pulled himself out of the game in the 3rd quarter after injuring his knee in the first half. He tried to tough it out, but he couldn't. Jay Cutler is a professional athlete. Randy Wolf is a professional athlete. The OP made a comment about athletes in general, hence my comparison.
  19. Ask Jay Cutler what happens when your fanbase thinks you are soft...
  20. I went to yesterday's game. Took the train as well. I didn't want to drive all the way down to Skokie, so I drove to Waukegan. Hopped on the Metra train and took it to Evanston-Main Street. (About an hour train ride and $10 fare round trip) From there, walked half a block and jumped on the CTA Purple Line at Evanston Main Street. During night games, the Purple Line Express drops you off at Sheridan with no need to transfer at Howard. To ride the CTA aka the L, it's $2.25 each way, for a total cost of $4.50. Grand total for the train rides was $14.50. Since you are going to a day game, you could get easily get on in Kenosha. We drove to Waukegan because late night return routes to Kenosha don't run as frequently as they do Waukegan. You can still take it to Evanston-Main Street and then switch to the CTA Purple Line. You will just have to transfer to the Red Line at Howard and get off at either Sheridan or Addison. http://metrarail.com/content/metra/en/home/maps_schedules/metra_system_map/up-n/schedule.html http://www.transitchicago.com/purpleline/
  21. Not to speculate, but Mat's sister used to be a member here. When the Brevard team photo was released, I made a wisecrack about the roster being not so attractive. His sister jumped all over me for it. EDIT: Found the thread: http://forum.brewerfan.net/search.php?keywords=13881/Your-2007-B-C-Manatees-Latest-Honors-for-Gamel-Tamargo#reply-13881
  22. I'm disappointed I missed out on my chance to post a photo of Jenna Von Oy, aka Six from Blossom. Growing up, I used to think she was really hot. I later realized that standing next to Miyam Bialak, pretty much anyone looks hot.
  23. Let's see if anyone gets this one. http://powet.tv/powetblog/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/seven_married_with_children.jpg
