  1. Sheets was still hurt in Sept 2007.
  2. Macha is aware of this - he made specific mention of the 75% success rate last year during spring training. Be interesting to see how he approaches it this year.
  3. Beane again taking on an injured player with upside. Good move. Good luck, Ben - glad I don't have to boo you. And Sheets is probably PO'd he doesn't get to bat anymore. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. Just get to the tournament without any more injuries......
  5. As a sidenote "Lets say you haven't payed a credit card in 2 years. if you make a payment it resets the clock and it will stay on your credit for 7 more years. If you don't make a payment it is a negative for 5 more years but than disappears." Sometimes the best idea is to avoid an issue ------------------------ Huh? You still owe the money though. So at some point you have to pay the ferryman, no?
  6. The Brewers offense won't be as good unless there are some pleasant surprises (like McGehee last year). But I don't think it will fall off a cliff or anything. At worst they should still be a top 5 or 6 offense in runs scored.
  7. Marquette lost to DePaul. Wow.

  9. I hope they sign Mulder and he makes the rotation. Four lefties!!
  10. From The Onion: http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/dusty_baker_destroys Dusty Baker Destroys Aroldis Chapman's Arm Within Minutes Of Arrival January 18, 2010 | Issue 46•02 | Onion Sports CINCINNATI-Within just a few minutes of Cuban pitcher Aroldis Chapman's arrival in the United States, Reds manager Dusty Baker had already overused and mangled the 21-year-old's arm beyond recognition, team sources reported Sunday. Baker, who has been accused of overtaxing young pitchers' arms in the past, reportedly greeted Chapman with a bucket of 250 baseballs and told him to "hurl them" as fast as he could, later encouraging the fastballer to "go nuts" with his pitching style. "He didn't even let me stretch out first," Chapman told reporters through an interpreter. "And when I started to wince from the pain and soreness, he just gave me a thumbs up, winked, and told me to keep throwing." At press time, Chapman had already been to the hospital for an oblique strain, a torn rotator cuff, and his second Tommy John surgery of the week.
  11. I'm fine with anyone taking minutes away from Delfino.
  12. The Hurt Locker Terrific film. This is what ticks me off about big studios/distribution/corporate Hollywood. This film should have been in every theater complex in every city yet it was limited in release and only in major markets (to my knowledge). The only thing missing from this movie is a big name cast (despite four cameos from very well known actors). This is almost non stop white knuckle action from start to finish (and it's two hours long). It follows an elite explosives ordinance disposal team (i.e. they defuse bombs) on their last few weeks on tour in Iraq. Great performance from the main character and solid assistance from his second in command. Really puts you right in the action and gives what I imagine is as close an approximation to what soldiers go through in war (both on and off the battlefield) as any film could. It wouldn't surprise me if this becomes the standard by which all other Iraq War films are judged. Big thumbs up.
  13. You can get regular cheese curds anywhere in Milwaukee. I think Paul is looking for the breaded frozen kind.
  14. Or maybe one of his ancestors: link Thanks, wisconsinhistory.org! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Ha! I knew he made it up!
  15. My brother claims Goerke's Corners in Waukesha is named after this guy.
  16. Holy crap! I just saw that show he did at the Riverside on New Year's Eve. Wow. I was kind of into his sound. There was an article about him in The Reader or AV Club recently. Sounded like he partied pretty hard.....
  17. I agree on District 9. I really enjoyed it. I have friends that absolutely hated it and I really don't know why. Kat, I agree on Moon - I have it top three in my netflix queue. Can't wait to see it.
  18. If McGwire only used it for injuries then why was he so emotional during the interview with Costas? I would think if he just took them for recovery reasons he wouldn't be so tearful. I think he knows he's a fraud and it's eating away at him.
  19. I think insurance covers about $14million of it if he doesn't play but that number still counts towards the cap.
  20. It would have hung over the Cardinals all season long had he not come forward. I give him credit for finally admitting it. My respect for him inched upward a little today.
  21. Roco, I would love to do it for the experience, but have already committed to three other projects and probably won't be able to get to yours. Do a little search on the web - there's some services out there that let you design a simple site right on their web page and then they'll host it for a low fee.
  22. What was that product he endorsed a few years back? Some workout thing where you just shook a three foot bar for a while.
  23. On the Netflix site it has a list of compatible Blu-Ray players. Here's the Sony model: Sony Network Blu-ray Disc player Model: BDP-N460 Experience Blu-ray Disc™ movies in Full HD 1080p quality with HD sound plus instantly stream entertainment from leading internet providers with the Sony® BDP-N460 Network Blu-ray Disc player. There's also a Samsung, LG, and Insignia model. Not sure if those are the only ones or not. They also stream on Internet Connected TVs from LG and Sony in addition to TiVo's HD DVR.
  24. I hooked up speakers to my computer and basically use my TV as a second monitor. So I drag the window with the Brewer game over to my TV and the sound comes from the external speakers on my computer. Works great although I'll be the first to admit I'm not super picky about resolution so what I think is fine might be terrible to someone else. All you need to hook up the TV to the PC is a cable you can pick up at Radio Shack. They also have cables that will move the sound from the PC to the TV but I didn't bother with that since I had the external speakers on my PC. I have a crappy DVD player so sometimes I use the DVD player on the computer and watch the movie on TV. Also watch the streaming movies from Netflix this way.
