  1. Baseball Prospectus is ranking all farm systems 1 - 30. Today is the bottom half and it should be of great joy to Brewer fans that 1) the brewers are not on the list, 2) four of their division mates are (Cincy, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Houston). http://baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=8629 http://baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=8633
  2. Take note of the young Bill Paxton in this video. Fast forward to about 2:19 for the actual song.
  3. I'm not an autograph guy at all, but what's the deal with the sweet spot and some guys will and some won't sign there?
  4. If Dick Vitale were in charge every single bubble team would make it.
  5. There's an aircraft carrier dry docked downtown that you can tour. I believe it was commissioned in the 50's and last served during the first Gulf War. It's a pretty neat tour.
  6. I just returned from my weekend away and the music is back on - same song. Although it's very faint so the sound has been turned down quite a bit. Kat and FTJ - I was planning on posting the Nimoy and Mr T videos myself. Good work.
  7. The music stopped like 15 minutes ago. March 12, 2009 - the day the music died.
  8. Where's the fun in that?
  9. I guess I dont understand why you arent so thrilled about getting to listen for kanye for any extended period of time. Kanye himself isn't so awful - although not my cup of tea - but it's the same song over and over and over again. I'd get sick of Stairway to Heaven if it was played 400 times in a row.....well, maybe not. Anyway, here is the song I'm dealing with. Can pretty much sing it by heart at this point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAVXjzNu-Yg
  10. I guess this piggybacks JJ Hardy's post, but why do you think those guys are better than Redd? Just your opinion?
  11. Nice one. While we're sharing obscure 60's and 70's music, here's an instrumental I could use.....although it loses much of its steam without the video.
  12. I actually wrote alternate lyrics to that Lesley Gore song but they cannot be repeated here.
  13. The people that live below me are playing Heartless by Kanye West on a continuous loop. I'm guessing they have a pet or something and are trying to keep it company while they're gone. I should call the humane society because having to listen to the same Kanye West song over and over again is probably considered animal cruelty. Yesterday it was from 7:15am until 6:45pm or so. This morning it started around 8am and is still running. I work from home in case anyone wonders why I'm still here. Anyway, I'm going out of town this weekend and was thinking of pointing my speakers at the floor and putting a song of my own on a continuous loop. I want it to be the opposite of Kanye West. Here are some ideas: MmmBop - Hansen Boot Scoot Boogie - Brooks and Dunn Theme to St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion) - John Parr I Can't Drive Fifty Five - Sammy Hagar Cherry Pie - Warrant I've Got Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks I'd appreciate any other suggestions.
  14. Again, you are comparing top 5 to top 20. No one is saying Redd is as good as Lebron or Kobe or D Wade or Chris Paul.
  15. Lebron is possibly the best player ever - or at least he will be considered probably top 10 of all time.
  16. The bottom line is, Lebron James is really good no matter what rating system you look at. :0
  17. "The Redd debate is interesting because basketball statistics do not lend themselves to evaluating a players true worth." That's why I use PER which is production per minute. It takes into account everything a player does to help or hurt the team. It's not perfect especially on defense since playing good defense doesn't mean you get a lot of steals or get a ton of rebounds but it's a decent starting point. "The same discussion applies to CV. Does his total lack of effort on the defensive end get offset by his offensive prowess?" Villanueva is a great rebounder (top 20 in the league among all players in defensive rebounding percentage).
  18. Redd's career PER is 17th among active players. That's top 20. Redd gets a lot of flack but quite frankly he's pretty darn good when he plays. http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/per_active.html
  19. When Redd is healthy, he is a top 20 player.
  20. avrock, I did something very similar after graduating college. I would recommend it to anyone. Go see the world while you're still young and unencumbered with a job, mortgage, family, etc.
  21. BYU is my sleeper. It's an interesting year in that there are between 5 - 8 teams that could legitimately win the whole thing. Usually it's like two or maybe three. Off the top of my head there's Memphis, UNC, Pitt, UConn, Duke, Louisville, and maybe Oklahoma.
  22. I think Tom was just trying to clear the air about Law. He had posted a comment in a different thread that Law's article/post was based on a letter sent to several dozen media outlets when in fact Law had talked to Escobar's ex on the phone. I'm sure the journalistic code of ethics says you are supposed to publicly perform a mea culpa when your facts are wrong. I'm guessing Law caught wind of it and called Tommy up to see what the deal was.
  23. Not really. There's just one guy questioning why the JS doesn't report on this stuff. Everyone else backs TH and the JS.
  24. If you trust zone rating, then Hardy's range is pretty good. I was actually surprised to discover that. He seems limited range wise - especially in the hole.
  25. Too much talent is never a problem. This will be a very telling year for Escobar. If he can put up decent offensive numbers and show more plate patience then Hardy needs to be traded for some pitching. His value relative to his salary is really good for any team right now. I think everyone was resigned to the fact that the Brewers wouldn't be able to keep their core together for more than three or four seasons. Hardy is just the first one to go. Now having said that, if they trade Escobar and sign JJ long term I won't be all that upset but one of them will have to go.
