  1. When did it become so hard to buy a TV? We bought our "big TV" about four years ago. I literally went to the store 4 different times knowing I was going to be coming home with a new TV only to run into another question I didn't know what I wanted. When I bought our first big TV about 15 years ago the only thing you needed to know was how much money you had to spend because that would determine how large of a set you got. I'm sure all of the research I did 4 years ago is now crazy obsolete, so I won't waste your time with worthless advice. Good luck and I hope you find a screaming deal.
  2. Thank you to the amazing team that makes up the link report. Thank you for the hours of your summer that you toil away so we can be more informed fans. YOU GUYS ROCK!!
  3. Not to be a dink, but since Nashville is canning the Crew as a minor league affiliate next season, they can take a hike for all I care. We've played in that dump of a stadium for years and when a new building is ready we're banished to freaking Fresno (or Reno, I can't remember what launching pad we're ending up at). Not to mention, the big club is always the priority. I hope the Brewers bring up everyone they can. Robert's point about extra inning games and in game changes seem to make too much sense not to take advantage of.
  4. There is a lot going on when you look at the 40 man roster with respect to call ups. The 40 man is currently full. Lots of questions. This thread gets jumbled. I apologize. -Thornburg and Henderson are both on the 60 day DL. It doesn't sound optimistic that either will be healthy again this season. Since they are already on the 60 day DL they're not counting against the 40 man roster. But someone would need to be removed to activate them in that remote scenario. -Hiram Burgos, Brooks Hall, & Johnny Hellweg are all injured and on the 40 man roster. It would seem that makes 3 spots available to call up other players by placing these 3 on the 60 day DL. But other posters have stated that placing these players on the DL has some other repercussions with service time? I don't know. Does it really matter if that's the case? None of the 3 are can't miss prospects. -Logan Schaffer is on the 40 man and should be called up. I would guess that Rob Wooten and Michael Blazek would also be called up due to their 40 man status. Caleb Gindl and Alfredo Figaro are both on the 40 man and could also be brought up. But are there more useful bench options for their roster spots? With the 3 minor league pitchers and these two, there would be 5 open spots. -Jason Rogers is on the 40 man and at AAA. Do you call him up? I don't believe he is ready, but can kind of provide coverage at 1st and some what at 3rd. (He has quite a few errors at 3rd this season between AA & AAA). -Hunter Morris is on the 40 man. He is currently rehabbing at Arizona from a broken arm and should be healthy by September. He'll add a power type bat off the bench and passable D at 1st. You would think he gets the call. - Do you activate the Wang? I would think not. What could he possibly bring to the table? - When is Bianchi going to be healthy? If he's not going to be healthy you probably need to add Iriving Falu to the 40 man. On the 40 man roster thread it stated that Falu was on the 40 man, but according to Brewers.com and Espn.com that he's not currently. -Josh Prince would seem to be quite useful. Formerly of the 40 man roster. He is a super utility player. All 3 outfield positions, for sure SS, 2nd, and I would guess 3rd. Plus he can fly. Most post season roster have a super fast pinch runner. -Adam Weisenburger should be added as a 3rd catcher. Not much with the bat, but reportedly has MLB ready D. -Dustin Molleken. Fireballer from AAA. Not great command but he has his fans. -Jay Jackson, recently acquired from Pittsburgh for cash considerations. Don't know much about him. Reports say he has a plus fast ball and plus slider. -Tim Dillard. Side winding righties can be effective as a ROOGY.

  6. I'd like to send a big thank you to all of the link reporters for their dedication and time. I try to check everyday for the daily link report. I mostly click on the box scores. I try to read the comments of the reporter and any other nuggets posted by anyone who has more info. I don't read the articles or do the video/ audio. Thanks again gentlemen.
  7. I can't believe they just killed the Red Viper!! That sucks! Game of Thrones 101, don't like a character or they will kill them off.
  8. I'm on board with Hoffman. With the injury maybe he signs for less? I'd love to get a legit top of the rotation pitcher at 12. If Hoffman isn't the pick then I'd be happy with Holmes or Schwarber.
  9. Fear the Chorizo, my bad! I wasn't comprehending your point. Thought you were bagging on Pauly. (Apparently his leaving is still a sensitive subject 21 years later)
  10. Fear the Chorizo , I'm not going to disagree with you on the other players on the list. But Pauly was still kicking ass when he left Milwaukee. The emperor of all evil Sal Bando and the cheap Seligs wouldn't even offer Molitor arbitration until it was too late. It was a money thing, not a production thing. Along with his numbers Pauly was the 1993 World Series MVP. Paul Molitor's numbers: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/molitpa01.shtml
  11. This draft article was in today's State Journal. The writer talked to some Ebert guy, probably has no idea what he's talking about! http://host.madison.com/sports/baseball/professional/brewers-milwaukee-expects-some-tough-decisions-with-no-pick-in/article_d82ef70d-7f2d-54c1-bea6-0fa7dfe33aa8.html
  12. Count me in the " I was wrong camp." I remembered Loshe sucking it up for the Twins. I figured his success with the Cards was all the Dave Ducan Vodoo/ deal with the devil magic crap and it would all evaporate once Loshe was pitching for the Crew. I did see Soup 2.0. Adding injury to insult was the losing of our coveted 1st round pick ( I am a "our minor leagues aren't with are darn" Kool-aid drinker). Spending free agent dollars to boot and it all added up to a horrible, horrible signing by Doug. But I was wrong. Loshe has been our best pitcher since he's been here. Would I like to have more impact talent in the minors? Sure, who wouldn't. But the saga of the Wang coupled with the HOPEFUL Lara signing would help the farm. I think the Brewers are using the money they didn't spend on a first round pick last season on the possible Lara signing. And I too would start Loshe as our #1 in any playoff series. I'm happy the I was wrong about Loshe.
  13. So the draft starts on Thursday, when can / will Morales be signed? (Not necessarily by the Brewers, but I would be ok with him coming to Milwaukee) And yes, bring up Hunter and let Lyle leave with his big double as a nice going away memory.
  14. Bourne.
  15. So we're in first place, now. The middle of May. Does anyone who's in favor of going Loraina Bobbit with our Wang truly think we'll be in first place in May of 2015? 2016? Our minor league system is ranked last or dead last in all of MLB for a reason. As much as anyone else I'm loving the ride that the Crew is currently on. But even if we can make the playoffs this season, doing so in subsequent seasons is going to be more and more difficult. How is it that we find ourselves in first? Pitching. What will we have when the likes of Yo, Loshe and Estrada are gone in a season or two? Look at St. Louis and their crazy pitching depth, we won't be able to compete with them--plain and simple. We don't now, nor will ever have the financial means to compete for elite free agent talent. Melvin & Co. believe that Wang has 1st round draft pick ability (I would concur, lefties that can throw in the 90's don't grow on trees). We need all of the upside talent we can acquire. Wang is certainly not helping us this season. But as others have stated, he's not costing us games either. I'm for riding Wang's Wild Ride out until the DL and the expanded September rosters are upon us.
  16. 1 - Jimmy Nelson 2 - Tyrone Taylor 3 - Clint Coulter 4 - Orlando Arcia 5 - Mitch Haniger 6 - Taylor Jungman 7 - Hunter Morris 8 - Devin Williams 9 - Michael Reed 10 - David Denson 11 - Jason Rogers 12 - Drew Gagon 13- David Goforth 14 - Chris McFarland 15 - Victor Roache 16 - Jed Bradley 17 - Tyler Cravy 18 - Damien Magnifico 19 - D'vo 20 - Jacob Barnes Top 5 who missed: Cameron Garfield, Tucker Nehaus, Ariel Pena, Omar Garcia, Nick Ramirez After the top 5 prospects I kind of remembered why our system is rated so low. Lots of warts. But "spring hopes attorney"!!
  17. With that crazy starting rotation I think the Cards are looking just fine. Lynn and Miller as their 3 & 4 makes me sick!! As much fun as I'm having with the Crew right now I can't say in good conscience that the Brewers are in the same stratosphere as St. Louis right now.
  18. I was also hoping Joffery's death was going to be more excruciating. Maybe flashier? I also haven't read the books. From listening to my friends that have read the books, I think I'm enjoying the show more. I nothing to compare changes to.
  19. We just bought our tickets yesterday. Haven't missed an opening day since 1998. Hope to keep making them as long as I'm drawing breath! I am starting to feel old though. The tailgating will be weather dependent. Anything falling from the sky or temps below 40 will chase us inside early.
  20. That is crazy awesome. I lack the skills to make my own updated copy of Tecmo bowl. Can you buy them anywhere?
  21. When ever my best friend and I get together there must be 3 game battle of Tecmo Super Bowl. And as others have noted, the immortal Bob Nelson is off limits. In head to head, the plays that a team has is almost as important as the talent. As a side note, some kids that at my place of employment play a current version of Tecmo on line. I've never checked it out, but they say it's set up with current players.
  22. When the Brewers signed Klye Loshe, and dashed our hopes of a brighter tomorrow, Kiki Diaz suggested that perhaps the Brewers could make up for the lose of the first round pick by spending more in the international scene. Being big spenders in the international market would be a relative change for the Brewers. If I'm remembering correctly $500,000 - $750,000 has been the ceiling on what the Brewers have spent on any one player and even those figures may be high. If the Brewers were to go that direction how would this news effect that strategy?
  23. Can Logan be a blue chip difference maker? I would argue not. Logan has had trouble staying healthy and doesn't project to be a plus plus player with any skill. Like the 'stache', I really do like Logan. Love that he hits from the left side, plays a good center field, has decent speed, gap power, and good OBP. But nothing Logan has shown thus far is "special". Gomez can be special. Will he? I don't know. His speed is world class as is he defense. If his bat continues to improve than he could be an All-Star caliber player at a great price. He could also regress and continue to make bone headed plays. I have heard on this board (and agree with) the thinking that we need more difference makers coming up through the ranks. Gomez can be that type of difference maker. By this extension Doug & Co. say he's going to continue to improve. So is a Gomez worth more than Logan plus 27 million? We'll know in 4 years.
  24. Narvy. If he's in the rotation over Peralta past early June, he'll receive some wrath. *Others receiving votes* Alex Gonzalez has a chance if he's at 1st for too long, or takes too many starts away from Segura. I'll throw Axford on the wood pile as well.
  25. I know polls have been deemed to be the devil after they got out of hand. But I think it would be interesting for the mods to open a poll about Lohse. Something along the lines of " On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest. How angry would you be if the Brewers sign Kyle Lohse to a contract." I personally would have to be around a 8 to a 9. I think Lohse is a pretty bad MLB pitcher. He's getting old and the Crew needs great drafts for continued success. Giving up 1st round draft picks isn't going to help the farm. Not to mention I like all of our house options more than Lohse.
