  1. If people have gone to him respectfully and gotten junk from him, that would change my view on that. Seriously, there are about 20 threads floating out there with eveidence of this and has happened to me personally. The guy deserves no quarter for being nasty...he has, however, done a much better job with the major league team since the interest level in the state has risen. He continues to have a very poor grasp of the minors however.
  2. I just wanted to piggyback on this thread for a moment to mention Phil Schreiber, the cousin of the beforementioned Brad. Phil ended up as the number 1 starter by the end of the year on a really poor Iowa team, and is poised to have a breakthrough as a sophomore next year as the team improves. I know his committment was very strong to the Hawkeyes, but a 4th round level bonus would have been tantalizing I would guess.
  3. Butler not in the top 50 is kind of shocking...excellent list, but Butler needs to be around 32-35
  4. I admit, I am still a bit bothered that this idea was shot down some 18 months ago - namely that each Brewer prospect would have a "sponsor" that would be responsible for maintaining a thread that is dedicated to preserving organized information about them. The prospect I wanted back then - Omar Aguillar - has taken off, and I think it would be great to have a seperate forum where players like Nick Green could have their information stored, so if he were to get called up later in the season, a fan could go to his thread and find that he was Nick Adenhart's roommate last year, and has had to deal with a lot of loss in his baseball career. Instead, this awesome little fact nugget will be lost in all liklihood. Please bring back this idea, at least, and see if it still has some legs. Thanks.
  5. I really like Macha, but he is definitely nuts...he is also the anti-Yost in regard to handling players, which i think will work wonders for certain guys (Weeks), and will also ruffle some feathers. I think this will be the yhear that some guys have career years and others will go south in a hurry. My prediction is that the more mellow guys like Villanueva, Weeks and Hart will respond very well to the change in "perspective". I also think Haudricourt is going to have a nervous breakdown by June...he just is not equipped to handle this.
  6. A very rapid rise for the 22 year old.... http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5gnRkrjzIifuLVAGKw2ZJm3Cape-g Edit: Title for accuracy
  7. The thing that some are forgetting about is McGahee's excellent defense. The last series against the Brewers, McGahee was absolutely Brooks Robinson like, and the announcers made mention of his defensive prowess many times...when we acquired him, it was for this amzinging display in my view.
  8. I clicked on this thread for the first time today, and I feel like I just watched a seasons worth of episodes on my DVR - and with a happy ending....very, very, happy to hear about the PET scan results......and BrewCrewStu, my ex mother in law, who is just an awesome person, is in her third year with mantle cell and is doing fairly well
  9. I am interested as well...send me a Pm if a spot is open....
  10. Holy cow, what an awful story.... story reminded me of.Tom Wilhelmsen
  11. Holy cow, what an awful story.... story reminded me of.Tom Wilhelmsen
  12. We are going to have to just disagree on the perception wk, because the harboring of some ill-feelings towards the Brewers is obvious in the commentary to me...spelled-out, even.
  13. Wow.....why Bryson would make those comments about the Brewers organization is an interesting question...wk, did you know Bryson harbored such ill feelings towards the Brewers organization when he lived with you? The denial of MRI's is a pretty serious accusation.
  14. I have a few thoughts to add: 1. BrewCrewStu needs a word of thanks for adding Holly Molly to my lexicon, and I may just use it more than Holy Moly in my future. 2. I lurve Buck Rogers, but whoa Buck, these disparaging words are getting back to LaPorta, for sure, and they are just not something you see often out of baseball management...pretty forthcoming, to a fault. 3. In spring training this March, I thought LaPorta personified arrogance, and that he and Gamel did not seem to care for each other at all
  15. The update to that linked article suggests this deal will happen later today, though with Horne perhaps instead of Kennedy coming back.....methinks this board will have a trade to talk about later today.
  16. I now live 3 miles from the Davidson campus and look forward to seeing Stephen Curry a few times this year....I think the season is going to be excellent, and as mentioned the Big East will be scary...I look for the Pac-10 to have a number of teams knocking each other off similarily, though Stanford might be down a notch this year.
  17. You root for Macha with all your heart and soul/ Bob Brenley is a complete boob.....a nincompoop and a knob to boot. I would like to be stronger about my feelings on this issue, but will leave it at that.
  18. There is a deleted scene up at officetally.com - the best website outside of this one, that is amazing with Kevin-ness.....not sure how the first deletewd scene did not make it in, as it would have been the best part of the episode....also, in the second deleted scene Melora Harden is topless
  19. I really, really do not want to see Melvin back. He was still in love with his bad coach and made some horrific offseason moves that bit this team. Having 6 free swinging righties with one LH bat was a bad mistake along with trading your only LH bat off the bench in Gross. Man, I cannot disagree with this more...Melvin has been incredible for this franchise, and crafted some essential parts for this team from squadoosh.....I love Jack Z, and would be fine with him as GM next year, but to throw Melvin on the scrapheap and deride his decisions as consistantly poor is a huge leap of logic
  20. The Brewers would have ended up around .500 without this trade...this sucker was a 9 game swing, not just a 2,3 game swing.....Sabathia was just as good as Sutcliffe in terms of mid-season trades....
  21. The point is, and thanks battlekow for the ridiclously un-needed and snarky comment, that he will be 22 for all of next season and starting out at low-A ball is not a hinderance for him from a prospect perspective. People tend to want to bump up prospects precipitously on this site.
  22. in fact; he'll be 22 when next season starts, so he's got a chance to skip Appleton for Brevard County... Mass, why would you say that? He does not turn 22 till November 26, and there is no reason at all to skip him a level.
  23. I am not going to argue merits of Salome, but this level of hitting for a catcher is pretty much unprescedented in the Southern League. Though he certainly can improve on things, if Salome's defense was on par with the St. Louis Molina, then Salome would be regarded as the best catching prospect to come into the higher rungs of baseball in at least a decade. As it is, he is a unique prospect.
  24. with 3 hits in his first 3 at bats tonight, Salome is now 16 for his last 23 with 2 walks and no strikeouts in that span. He is now hitting .367
  25. With his recent 19 for 36 streak, Salome has gotten his batting average up to a ridiculous level. This season has to be getting noticed on a national level.
