  1. Mench is such an afterthought due to his non-production, but I really wonder what his trade value is? He was a wanted commodity by many teams at one point this past year. In this article, however, he certainly comes off as weak-minded.
  2. Holy crud - Astro's up offer by 13 million - now offering 5 years/ 73 million. www.chron.com/disp/story....55169.html
  3. From Ken Rosenthal: Free-agent shortstop Alex Gonzalez is believed to be close to signing a three-year contract with the Reds. The Blue Jays also have shown interest in Gonzalez, but a second source said they would balk at the rumored price ? three years, $15 million. Gonzalez, 28, is one of the game's top defensive shortstops, but his .179 batting average with runners in scoring position last season was the lowest in the majors.
  4. . COL and HOU are in trade talk that could potentilly involve Jennings and Lidge ** TEX may have made a offer of Otsuka, Danks, and Nick Masset for Javier Vazquez. The White Sox need to take the Vazquez offer, and Houston getting Jennings bugs me a bit.
  5. look at Drew's year last year and then Jenkins year....they are not that different, at least considering that Drew's salary will be double that of the uber-maligned Jenkins. Jenkins 2005 was actually better than Drew's 2006. Not a pro-Jenkins thing, but more of a comment on Drew....
  6. Tracy Ringolsby (a hack, but sometimes in the know) writes in his column today that the Brewers are expected to sign Dave Roberts...... www.rockymountainnews.com...98,00.html
  7. If Gil Meche gets 12 million a year, I am going to start following jai alai instead.
  8. Schmidt- 11 mil SD Zito- 13 mil NYY Lilly- 4 mil Hou Mulder- 8 mil Sea Mollina- 4 mil Ariz Roberts- 5 mil Wash Soriano- 18 mil Phil Pierre- 4.5 mil Mil Nomar- 7.5 mil LAA Lugo- 5.5 mil BOS Drew- 12 mil BOS Huff- 7 mil Balt Suppan- 8 mil STL Meche- 5 mil St. Louis C. Lee- 13 mil Cubs
  9. p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...=729.topic Or, just keep it in-house, as there is a great listing of links on the well-compiled, and updated post by JoeH33.
  10. Endaround is an agenda-driven machine, accuracies be darned
  11. Jenkins for Crisp huh? Could be interesting
  12. I thought this episode was flippin awesome, but my wife did not like it that much....I just viewed it as pitch perfect, and Pam's reactions at the end were pretty cool for a softie romantic like me...... What were your views?
  13. ....According to the Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan chicagosports.chicagotrib...-headlines
  14. Bonderman's appears to be bringing a HUGE return for the Tigers, and Adam Dunn looks like he could be had for a bargain price...... www.gothambaseball.com/ne...844521.php
  15. According to a source in the know, the Brewers had a deal in place at the deadline to land Maddux, but the Cubs backed out at the last moment to take the Dodgers deal instead. The Brewers interest in Maddux is very real.
  16. I had not heard this report earlier, but, Erik Walker, who debuted this year with a 38 inning, 24 baserunner, 53 strikeout season, was found dead on October 25th after a boating accident.... www.thebaseballcube.com/p...lker.shtml In other, less tragic news, Toronto lefty prospect and Midwest league all-ster Chi-Hung Cheng is out indefinitely with a torn labrum.
  17. I heard he is a lock to stay in the Bay area, but does he need to be a DH? How can Frank Thomas and Bonds be both on the A's?
  18. p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...1811.topic
  19. Also, Zach Braddock's grandfather was Jim Braddock, whom the movie "Cinderella Man" was based off of. Wow. That is one of the coolest things I have heard in a while.... also, was it known that Bouchie was an excellent defensive catcher?
  20. Why don't we just keep Mench, Clark and Jenkins this year, don't sign any FA's and lose 90 games again, seems par for the course. And why don't you just say the same dang thing 350 posts in a row - continuing to define yourself through your words?
  21. Doug will add a reliever or two this offseason, and if King is inexpensive, he would be a choice that wouldn't bother me. I'd even go 2 years for $3-4M total. Oh my goodness. Lefties batted .303 off him last year, righties .347 with 13 walks vs. 9 k's. He was awful in the beginning, middle and end of the season, as batters hit .361 in April off of him, .387 in July, and .382 in September. He was one of the worst players in the majors last year. And he is a miserably out of shape guy that will be 33. But sign Al up for a couple million a year. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.
  22. This is from the actress that plays Angela - it is on my space, so I am not sure if it will show up without being logged in there, but it is a sketching of the Office characters by South Park - freaking hilarious. viewmorepics.myspace.com/...1289334744 viewmorepics.myspace.com/...1289337603
  23. Based upon his raw baserunner stats last year, King's ERA should have been more like 6 ish. To paraphrase David Letterman on Terry Forster (who's dead, right?) - King is a useless fat tub of goo. I would rather have Joe Winklesas.
  24. The 2003 projection that shocked me was Kyle Bakker - the very tall pitcher that I believe is now out of baseball....I got a chance to talk with his mother for about 2 hours when we were on a 4 person van tour of Washington DC in February of 2004, and she was a crazy, but nice, lady.
  25. Yo is certainly close to Ben in ability Whoa Whoa whoa. I think that is way too premature a comment. Yes, the command looks great, but in terms of pure stuff, not really close.
