  1. Susac is really bad. I'd DFA him now, and purchase Rene Garcia. Garcia has the look of Manny Pina lite.
  2. If the team remains a winner, does he get a huge contract extension?
  3. They'll just option Suter. No need for a 5th starter anytime soon since the team finally has off days coming up.
  4. Breaking up Clark, Harrison, and Ray will be easy because Ray will need a 3rd year at A+, while the other 2 have shown the consistent improvement to continue to move up. I didn't like Cordell because he was 25 and still couldn't hit. It had nothing to do with his position. Pretty sure you're referring to "statistical improvement", which doesn't have to show "actual improvement". Cordell can't hit. Too funny. There's is tons of metrics to measure a player today. If Ray was improving, there'd be a metric to that suggests some kind of improvement. If you can't measure the improvement, then it's tough to say it's happening. As for Cordell, care to show how you consider him a hitter? He didn't hit anywhere near as well as his Colorado Springs teammates. He's 25 and nowhere near being a big league hitter.
  5. Thanks a ton Reilly. This is a serious workload. However, I was a little confused by the Ray comment that "some fans seem to have a dislike for Ray due to the fact that they did not want to draft him" I had Ray really low, but ahead of him was players who are just as toolsy, younger, and more productive at the same level. Does that show some kind of bias? I also had players roughly his age (within 3 months) but way, way more advanced ranked ahead of him, like Brinson, Phillips, and Dubon. Again, where's the bias? Due people realize Ray turns 23 next month? Ray's high ranking is a bias based on his lofty draft status. Nothing he's done at the plate in college or the pros suggest a quality MLB hitter.

  7. Perez is just as good as Kinsler. Broxton is just as good as Granderson. We need one more stud in the lineup, not just another mediocre guy. Perez might be a little better with the bat right now but overall Kinsler might be better. Phillips might be an upgrade over both. IMO, Perez loses his value in any starting spot. He still doesn't get on base enough for that role and his versatility is huge for a bench. Granderson is still way better than Broxton. Broxton doesn't get on base and he strikes out 40% of the time. He's just bad. Granderson would be a definite upgrade. Granderson has lost it defensively. Any boost we gain with the bat is negated in the field. Broxton could get hot at the plate, but Granderson cannot physically get hot in the field.

  9. 1. Lewis Brinson 2. Brandon Woodruff 3. Josh Hader 4. Keston Hiura 5. Corbin Burnes 6. Brett Phillips 7. Freddy Peralta 8. Mauricio Dubon 9. Trent Clark 10. Luis Ortiz 11. Tristen Lutz 12. Mario Feliciano 13. Monte Harrison 14. Kodi Medeiros 15. Isan Diaz 16. Troy Stokes 17. Jake Gatewood 18. Jacob Nottingham 19. Lucas Erceg 20. Corey Ray 21. Jordan Yamamoto 22. Trey Supak 23. Taylor Williams 24. Cody Ponce 25. Carlos Herrera 26. Marcos Diplan 27. Jorge Lopez 28. Bubba Derby 29. Wei-Chung Wang 30. Gabriel garcia 31. Michelle Vasilotti 32. JC Carmona 33. Pablo Abreu 34. Ernesto Martinez 35. Larry Ernesto 36. Aaron Familia 37. Corey Rodriquez 38. Adrian Houser 39. Caden Lemons 40. Johnny Davis
  10. Brewers brass has loved Woodruff for a long time, and their belief in him is likely a big part of why the team didn't acquire a starting pitcher at the deadline.
  11. That group is not going to get a guy like Gray especially in heavy bidding. The Brewers offered Ray in trades and teams weren't interested. He can't hit. Terrible draft selection. Clark is a much better prospect.
  12. Jeffress lived in the bottom of the strike zone. The new stike zone has hurt him. DJ will have to make the same changes with Jeffress that he did with Hughes. It'll take some time, but Jeffress will be back.
  13. As I said when we acquired Cordell, his bat renders him useless. He's 25 and has only been OK with the bat this year despite playing half his games on the moon. I'm glad we cashed him in. Good move. No room for him on the 40 man roster here. Good return too compared to other deals.
  14. Oakland needs 3 new OFs, not just one. They're outfield defense is terrible. Start the package with Phillips and Ray. We're still loaded with OF prospects, because Clark has blown past Ray anyway.
  15. Davies, Phillips, Ray, and Angel Ventura for Gray
  16. I like this proposal because Ray has turned out to be as bad as I predicted on draft day. He's only a couple of months younger than Brinson and Phillips, has shown zero improvement, and is the worst hitting OF on the Carolina team. Deal him now while the illusion remains of him being a valuable prospect. Replace Clark with Phillips, Oakland will want someone who can be called up now.
  17. Jungmann has been awesome lately, I'm excited to have him up. I could see him going on another run like he did in 2015, pushing Davies aside. Jungman's missing bats more than ever.
  18. The bottom of Melvins rosters were brutal. His AAA teams were brutal. The difference now is the depth we have has been the driving force behind our first place team. He never lost a rule V guy because the 40 man roster usually only had 35 worthwhile players.
  19. Wang had a good ERA, but his supporting numbers suggest he's just another guy. I'd still give him a shot though. Torres was trash in spring training and continues to be trash now.
  20. Hypothetically couldn't he join the T-Rats and DH, and by the time the playoffs come round send him to the OR, so he's ready for spring. I like the idea of him getting his feet wet in pro ball this season, and depending on how he's doing he could jump to Carolina or stay in Appleton next year at 100%. Why are we performing TJ surgery on someone who doesn't need it? He only had a partial tear, those can and have heeled on their own. Tyler Thornburg had the same thing and didn't get TJ, and he's a pitcher.
  21. I'm excited about Hiura, especially if 2B is a real possibility. He's the opposite of Corey Ray, he really improved each year. Now if they can land Sam Carlson that would be perfect. Love a hard throwing HS pitcher with a legit change up.
  22. I'll take anybody but Pavin Smith. He's a clone of his Virginia teammate last year, Matt Thaiss. Nobody would be excited if we had Thaiss right now. When did we get so excited about grounding out to 2nd?
  23. All those picks were pre-Stearns, so all that is irrelevant. All new people in charge. They should take who they think is the best, and the mistakes of the past is irrelevant.
  24. The uptick started last season after a mechanical tweak by Dereck Johnson. So it's really a combination of factors driving his newfound velocity. It definately changes the outlook on him.
