  1. I'm a Yost fan generally....but think this team needs some new energy and I'm willing to sacrific Ned to do so. I seem to recall Buck Rogers being fired during the season the last time we went to a World Series. Wasn't that the case?
  2. Well, we got to see a no-hitter.
  3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They will probably trade some minor prospects (one of the many low level OF's) for a LH reliever. They may also look to trade some blocked prospects for some veterans as well. I don't think you'll see anything of value traded for a 30/60 game rental, however. Wow....Parra has lefthanders batting less than .100 against him...I'd rather use him in the bullpen right now for six years...than trade him for someone less effective for a few months.
  4. I too like the trading of picks. With baseball clearly trying to make their draft a bigger event, I would not be surprised if this happens. There is not much downside to the union on trading of picks.
  5. ditto....i enjoy your insight year-round, not just at draft time.
  6. Serve refreshments? We're still looking stone-faced at each other, stunned at the occassion. Once we get through the denial phase, we'll work on planning the party.
  7. I just bought a CD yesterday by a group called "3", and their album, "Wake Pig." It reminded me of the Pumpkins quite a bit.
  8. I love this place....you can create a topic on anything, including soft stickbaits and get an educated response.
  9. That, my friends, is the most positive comment ever made by David....at least on this site. This is a momentous step.
  10. No pressure, Jim, but the biting sarcasm of the Power 50 commentary has been my favorite part of the site.
  11. Lo Cain was my breakthrough player of the year. After an incredibly slow start, he has been on fire lately. I study the box of pretty much every Brewer minor league team to look for trends or items of note. Since I haven't actually seen many of the guys play, it's hard to project who has a ceiling that may allow them to excel at a higher level.
  12. There are so many good one-liner's that could be used...but I don't feel like being banned this week.
  13. Well actually....$20 million is more like $10 million after taxes and losses of all other deductions. It's still a lot of money....but she only sees half ever, not including agents fees, etc.
  14. Dominguez over Moustakas is like taking Rogers over Bailey.
  15. Too bad for Mike....I'm sure this is really hard on him....incredibly frustrating. I was just thinking about creating a post to see if anyone had information on him. Given the last few years, the odds kept getting longer that he'd ever pitch for Milwaukee.....now they are quite remote. I hope he finds a way to stay that course and make it to the show. He's 24 now. If he has surgery this year, he might be ready to make a run for someone during the 2009 season when he is 26.
  16. I agree....I think we'll take a position player this year.
  17. Hart continues to make the most of his opportunities....I wish they'd commit to him full-time, all-time.
  18. I am not posting in the Vent thread...that is a silver lining. Additionally, Prince and JJ continue to establish themselves as two guys to build around. My gosh. When does Villenueva get a starting spot?
  19. I recall JJ Hardy being signed by the team....they announced he was already the top defensive shortstop in the organization. They hoped he would develop offensively....he's beyond what I had hoped for. After two years of disappointment....the last two months have guaranteed him a massive contract after the 2010 season.
  20. Nice post StumpyPepys.....next time I am disgusted and thinking and festering a bit or spinning into a negative slide, I'm going to read your post.
  21. This is creepy....it's a complete sense of violation. You are fortunate the deviant/felon who entered your home didn't have higher aspirations in terms of his criminal makeup.
  22. I gave you five stars....don't tell anyone I went to a website and gave a guy the highest rating.
  23. I am now bathed in knowledge, entering the day more enlightened. As I was listening to their jingle, my wife walked into the kitchen, stopped, and asked me what this was all about. I only shrugged my shoulders. The last time I got in a groove I bought over $3,000 worth of baseball cards, some of them still unopened. She'll have her eye on me.
  24. No. There is no silver lining, we most wallow in how pathetic this team. No more sugar coating things, this team is not a playoff team. We might make it but it's just because the lack of a legit playoff and the division being god awful top to bottom. The whole national league is bad. Doug Melvin won't do anything though, neither will anyone, because winning isn't the number 1 priority of the team. How far do you have to fall to do something? This was supposed to be something of a haven....a reason to not hang out in the Official Vent Thread for 2.5 hours a day. You message is "vent-like;" please deposit accordingly. I'm trying to create a zen-den where thoughts other than Turnbow, Yost, platooned-platoons, Vargas, etc. come to mind. Please be seated on the floor, breathe deeply, and respect the space.
  25. Well....attendance looks promising as well!
