  1. Despite the struggles over the past several weeks, Prince Fielder is establishing himself as a top shelf professional. He is not only matching expectations at an awfully young age, but he seems to be rising to the role as emotional team leader, something we have lacked in Milwaukee for awhile. This thread is to serve as a haven....a reason to not hang out in the Official Vent Thread for three hours a day. In this space, we encourage positive observations, and discourage conversations about Turnbow, Yost, platooned-platoons, Vargas, etc. This is our zen-den. Please be seated on the floor, breathe deeply, and respect the space.
  2. I've never felt like more of an outsider.
  3. I agree....I think they use minor tweaks and soreness as a means of keeping down the innings pitched.
  4. There is no team in baseball that couldn't use another reliever....but I think we've been very solid in the pen. Adding another reliever does not solve our problems. During this losing skid the offense has not had timely hitting and the number of quality starts by our starters has not been what is needed. I don't see how a reliever solves anything. We can surely upgrade Dessens, but we're just eating some salary with him and he (when healthy) eats innings in games in which we are resolved to the outcome, either victory or defeat. He's a placeholder for now while his contract runs. We have better arms in the minor's without a doubt.
  5. McClendon and Braddock; are these guys projectable prospects? Where do they fit? Will & Yo or Housman & Pena?
  6. I agree with your general theme. I think Mench is taking away some valuable development from Hart...and I too am concerned about his attitude given his earlier comments. He knew in spring training that he needed the at-bats to determine that he was a player worthy of landing a nice contract...and he's not getting those at-bats, which would concern me in terms of his locker room presence. The problem is that his second-half last year, and his first-half this year has quashed his trade value. Any meaningful value he might have would come in a package and would return spare parts that give us hope. That's my opinion.
  7. Please consider this my annual obligatory, yet sincere, congratulations and thank you for this outstanding work.
  8. Totally disappointing.... I hope they can still get Horford or B. Wright..... If not....Yi would be secondary...if we miss all three of those....this is a worst case scenario.
  9. I think that without a second round pick, they may take a shot at a Boras client this season if someone falls to them.
  10. Carr as a coach? Wow...I hope the Cubs hire him.
  11. True! Spurling is my first candidate to get sent down whenever that happens. Spurling before Dessens?
  12. X....you have me Xcited about this guy.
  13. I'd rather have the catching depth with Closser than acquire a guy that will never help. Cathing depth is far more valuable (see 80% of last ten seasons as example). Odd trade...the only explanation is to make room for Lou....in which case I would favor the trade.
  14. I voted....she' only behind by three points, but in third place (22-19). I tried to vote again but it caught me!
  15. Thanks...I always appreciate your insight...
  16. Who else would you like to see signed, Colby....anyone with "first three round" potential?
  17. Just the fact that we can debate which reliever in AAA deserves the next shot is a testament to the health of the organization.
  18. Surely they're not going to go into next season with the Jenkins/Mench platoon again, are they? Jenkins is a free agent after this season. Someone will probably pay him more than Milwaukee will want to spend. Is Mench also a free agent?
  19. Okay... I know this is WAY in advance. Yet, I don't believe this team is even playing well yet. My guess is even if they improve or decrease in performance slightly, they will be in a playoff chase. The Brewers have very interesting balance. Not many stars, but above-average or emerging folks in many places. Assuming they are well in the hunt at trade time, who do you trade and who might you target? We're a few months in advance and the names will change over time, but it's an interesting conversation. SORRY....wrong forum I'm wondering what TGwynn, Jr. and Capellan might net?
  20. In-sanity
  21. I'm dumping Cain....my new man-crush is Braddock.
  22. I cheer for the Pred's because of the ownership.
  23. Prediction: 93 posts before the season opens. We'll double this number ten days into the season.
