  1. I saw this in Yahoo sports, but I have my doubts. I don't see a lot of Cubs fans rooting for the Brewers. But I have seen a lot of Royals fans rooting for the Brewers due to Cain and Moustakas. https://sports.yahoo.com/yankees-dodgers-red-sox-arent-americas-team-postseason-guess-232321957.html
  2. In all the excitement today, the draft order got a small blurb. They pick 26th, ahead of only the 4 big AL teams. Hope they can find a late round pick like Plesac or Sveum and not Arnett, Coulter or Roache.
  3. Tiebreaker games count toward the regular season stats, right? With MVP and triple crown on the line, Yelich wouldn't see a pitch anywhere near the strike zone, right? Got to win it all tomorrow.
  4. 2011 says hi with 96 wins.
  5. Only Miami, Seattle and Tampa have fewer playoff appearances than the Brewers (If Colorado makes it).
  6. If I'm not mistaken, this year's team finished with the 2nd best road record in franchise history (44-37), behind only the 82 team (47-34). It's also their first winning road record since 2008.
  7. 1982 had 4 future Hall of Famers. Obviously a long way off, but are there any Hall of Famers on this team? Yelich would have to keep it up for at least another decade and stay healthy.
  8. It could come down to Broxton or Santana for the 4th outfielder next year, since both will be out of options. Do you keep the defensive versatility or the better offense (potentially).
  9. Yeah because he was pitching on short rest because they had no other options.
  10. They typically have had a lottery for non-season ticket holders any year they have been in the playoff race. I remember getting picked 3 or 4 times in the past 10 years. Had to pay the full ticket price if picked and they refunded the money if they didn't make the playoffs. For a best of 5 series, it seemed to be easier to get games 4/5 vs 1-3.
  11. Liriano is the third OF, Berry is 4th. Coulter has been playing some 1B and could continue to see some starts there in AAA.
  12. Plus he'll have an option next year, so if they can straighten him out, he could be on the taxi squad.
  13. They have to be protected on their team's 40 man roster to avoid being taken in the rule 5 draft. But if they aren't protected and the Brewers were to select one of them, then they would have to stay on the Brewers' 25 man roster all year.
  14. How do you go from a 12 game hitting streak to looking worse than Arcia at the plate?
  15. OPS vs lefties Cain 971 Yelich 958 Aguilar 899 Perez 766 Braun 713 Moustakas 706 Schoop 696 Thames 686 Shaw 531 Arcia 366 By the way, Arcia is actually better against righties, 513.
  16. Braun does have a 6 game hitting streak, so probably time to have him in the lineup more often while he's hot. And though Aguilar only has a .202 AVG this month, he still has a .770 OPS.
  17. Saladino isn't even playing, so it's got to be him. He only has 1 AB this week.
  18. Hypothetical question, if we don't catch the Cubs and you have a 1 game playoff, lose and go home, who do you start? Nelson is the big wild card, but we probably can't count on him this year. There really isn't a clear cut choice for starter.
  19. As expected, Moustakas is taking reps at 2B and they'll see who is a better fit there. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/07/29/brewers-could-use-mike-moustakas-second-base-well/846606002/
  20. I do wonder if Moustakas will start taking lots of grounders at 2B over the next week or two. He did play 65 games at SS 11 years ago in the minors, which is 65 more middle infield games than Shaw has ever seen. And he's open to it.
  21. Santana may well be non-tendered or there will be something worked out - maybe a DSL lottery ticket or two if DS gets lucky. Villar... he's still relatively young, has position versatility, and switch-hits. If the Brewers are keeping a lot of pitchers, he will probably be around as a replacement for or supplement to Hernan Perez. Right now, I see him worth a couple of lottery tickets as well. No chance Santana is non-tendered...none. Villar barring a turnaround is likely going to find himself non-tendered. Santana may not enough service time to reach arbitration if he stays in the minors for the rest of the year. But him and Broxton will be out of options when the final cuts of spring are made.
  22. He's actually on the books through 2031, with 10 years of deferred salary.
