  1. There was talk of building an entertainment/shopping area when Miller Park was first built on all the abandoned industrial and railroad land to the east. But the city decided they wanted a business park to bring higher paying jobs to the area. And now that business park is almost full.
  2. Even with these raises, the payroll is still below $70 million, so they have flexibility.
  3. Interesting that in his 80 years with the team, they won 3 championships in a 20 year period (60-79) and none the other 60.
  4. I'm glad to see frozen custard being added, though it's interesting that they didn't mention a brand like some of the other foods. At one of the games this year, we wanted ice cream (not the dippin dots crap). Couldn't find any (Even though it's listed on the web site), so we stopped at Oscars on the way home.
  5. When do the 4 guys on the 60 day DL need to get re-added? Does that happen at the same time as free agency?
  6. Only one 90 loss season in 12 years.
  7. Even though Anderson's numbers were better, he still only averaged 5.5 innings per start. Not sure if it was a conscious decision to pull him early, even when he was pitching well, but he really needs to go deeper into games to be a useful starter.
  8. Speaking of strikeouts, a player has struck out 200 times in a season, 9 times. And 5 of those have Brewer ties: 3 by Mark Reynolds and 2 by Chris Carter. But Carter won't match his single season strikeout record.
  9. Yes. I don't want the Brewers to be the Herb Kohl Bucks. Patch together a team good enough to get the 8th playoff spot and get swept in the first round.
  10. Villar now had 3 games to hit 1 more home run to join the exclusive 20 HR/60 SB club. Only 3 players have ever done it: Rickey Henderson 3 times, Joe Morgan twice and Eric Davis once. But as noted in the article, there have been fewer home runs in Colorado than Texas this year. http://www.foxsports.com/wisconsin/story/statuesday-milwaukee-brewers-jonathan-villar-20-60-club-joe-morgan-rickey-henderson-092716
  11. I think the parking deck was only mentioned if the freeway widening ended up taking parking and would only be used for employees. And I imagine they would be looking for compensation from the state for the lost parking, similar to what the Zoo is going through. But this would be down the road and certainly not next year.
  12. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/rangers-jeffress-reinstated-following-arrest-dwi-charge-005810176--mlb.html He has been reinstated, but not sure if he'll pitch in the postseason.
  13. I've been wondering why he never goes 6 innings. Even when he's pitching well, he often gets pulled well below 100 pitches. You can't have a starter averaging less than 5 innings per start over an entire season, unless you're going to piggyback someone with him.
  14. This is the best news all year. http://brewers.mlblogs.com/2016/09/19/brewers-announce-surprise-september-call-up-comedic-relief-pitcher-tim-dillard-to-join-brewers-social-media-team-tomorrow/
  15. Whatever happened to the talk a few years ago about minor league changes? I believe the Pioneer league would become a short season league, so each MLB team would have a SS team. Appalachian league would be independent and them every team would have an extended spring training team.
  16. I imagine we'll be seeing more Santana in CF and Perez in RF.
  17. The other problem is none of these guys pitch deep into games, so you need your bullpen to cover 3-4 innings every night. So you have to have a 7 man bullpen minimum.
  18. That's my thought as well. Regardless of age, it seems that guys who have a huge jump in innings end up hurt the next year (Fiers, Cravy). Guerra has gone from 87 innings to 160+.
  19. Shows the sorry state of the 40 man for position players, when you've got a short bench and no one is worth recalling, outside of Rivera for defense.
  20. I'm rooting for Peterson after being stuck in Brevard for 3 years.
  21. I think Briggs point it that Anderson only threw 11 pitches, so he wouldn't really be pitching on short rest.
  22. I read that Guerra probably won't be ready until late August or September.
  23. They'll need to make a move for a starter on the 20th, unless Cravy makes a spot start. Or they start someone on short rest.
  24. At the time of Erceg's promotion, they said Gatewood would move around and not just play one position.
  25. They won't be in Brevard County any more. So while they still may be in a pitcher's league (though not guaranteed). at least they won't be in an extreme pitcher's park. So placement in A+ should be less of an issue.
