  1. The rule 5 draft doesn't happen until Dec 10th. It was just the deadline to add players to the 40 man.
  2. I don't remember that. He was back with the Brewers that year. What is it with wife beaters and the Brewers?
  3. Busch Coors Miller Field Park Stadium North, South and West?
  4. Yeah, there were just so many things that made you scratch your head and made you wonder if they had any plan at all.
  5. It's also been said that baseball didn't support Montreal. They were on their way to the playoffs when the strike ended the 94 season. They never recovered from that.
  6. If you go strictly by population, Mexico City and Montreal are the largest metro areas in North America without an MLB team. Of course there are other factors in play. Would Montreal support a team after what happened with the Expos?
  7. There have been many reports that Strearns and CC have talked daily since the hiring and that they seem to have a pretty good relationship already. I imagine that the front office changes may take a bit more time. I certainly wouldn't mind Reid Nichols getting shown the door after 13 years.
  8. Perhaps it has to do with his local ties? http://www.tocbaseball.com/page/ed-sedar And it doesn't necessarily mean he will be back as 3B coach, right?
  9. I'll say one thing about Davies: he's the only Brewers pitcher in 3 weeks to throw a quality start (and he has 3 of them). And it's been something lacking all year (only 60). And while not a great indicator of success, it means that in 62% of the games this year, we most likely had a hole early or went to the bullpen early. Hopefully, this will be one area of improvement next year.
  10. Who thought we'd ever see an all rookie rotation for the Brewers, even if it is just for 2 weeks?
  11. None of the players added now will use an option this year. Their first options would be used if they are sent down after spring training next year. It may be to watch Arcia's service time.
  12. I'm not ready for a day with no baseball in the organization.
  13. If you don't want the Brewers to win, you'd have to be pretty happy with tonight's lineup: No Lucroy, Braun or Santana.
  14. The one chance I see of Schafer being back next year is if they go with an outfield of Braun, Santana and Davis, leaving Schafer as the defensive replacement/lone true CF.
  15. They already have 5 no walk infielders on the active roster in Milwaukee, they didn't need another one.
  16. What does that even mean? You're a good team guy because you're going to stay with the team and sit on the bench and not play? If he's not going to play, he shouldn't be allowed in the ballpark. And if he ever pitches again for the Brewers he should get booed off the field.
  17. Did you see who the third worst pitcher in the majors was this year (recently went on the DL)? CC Sabathia. It's so nice to have a bunch of good pitching prospects now. Hopefully Garza will be the last FA starter that they will have to overpay for.
  18. Still a ton of questions in the infield. Outside of Lind, the infield is full of bench and platoon players. And much of the same in AAA. Really, are there any infielders above A ball, outside of Arcia who you would consider an above average big league starter?
  19. It looks like Peralta is a guy who has to pitch every 5 days days. He has an ERA of 3.96 with a 1.25 WHIP on regular rest, but 5.25/2.04 with an extra day's rest. His last start was on regular rest. Garza has even bigger splits this year. Even with only 4 starters, they still have had a number of starts lately with extra rest, due to the goofy schedule. Interestingly, Nelson is lights out with an extra days' rest.
  20. Is there any chance that they live with his defense in CF next year, just to keep as many bats as they can? Otherwise, you're replacing Davis/Braun/Lind with some crappy CF bat, at least until Phillips is ready.
  21. McCalvy had an article recently about this. They aren't going to call up many. http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/144078034/brewers-considering-options-for-september His take: Strong Possibilities Davies, Sardinas, and Santana (mentioned prior to his recent promotion) Depending on playoffs: Arcia, Lopez, Barrios Other possibilities: Catcher, Clark and Dominguez
  22. Through injuries, trades and other turmoil, they are still .500 since June 1st (72 games).
  23. Speaking of Reid Nichols, what is everyone's view on him? A lot is made about drafting and acquiring players, but what about Nichols job of development them? He's been around forever and it seems like there isn't always a plan or consistency with how players are developed. Will he keep his job?
  24. Sounds like he may not be around for long. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/320927261.html
