I assume he'll get skipped when they have their crazy 4 days off in 12 days at the end of the month. Gives him 3 starts before then. If they don't skip him, he'll be pushing 180 innings by the end of the year, when he's never thrown more the 90.
Cravy has replaced Guilmet on the roster. Rosiak speculates that he could be taking Lohse's spot in the rotation. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/320715451.html
It's interesting that Davies and Collymore showed up right away on their respective rosters, but the Astros players are taking a few days. Can we speculate on Hellweg being one of the roster spots, either DL or moved to a different level? He has been getting hammered. I know he's working his way back, but is he healthy?
If I count correctly, 10 of the top 30 weren't in the organization last year. And Taylor has gone from 1/2 on most prospect lists down to 5 since the season started.
I had forgotten that Lohse is also due $7 in deferred money over the next 3 years. So he has negative value and we get to pay him to not pitch for 3 more years.
Cravy is one guy I actually am concerned about innings. He is already at 105 innings and has never pitched more than 90. I hope they aren't stupid with him like they were with Fiers and his huge innings jump a few years ago.
What can we realistically expect for him? He's 36 and has shown no signs of improvement as the year has progressed. Do we pay his full salary in exchange for a Melvin nugget? I'd rather be giving innings to guys who can help us in coming years.
1. Are a couple of good starts going really do anything for trade value when he has been garbage for half a season and is making $11 million? 2. Whose innings are we worried about among the current 6 starters? Jungmann had 154 last year, so he may need to skip a few starts. Peralta had 199, Fiers 174 and Nelson 173 last year, so not much concern there.
Innings shouldn't be too much of a concern for Jungmann, he went 154 last year. He may need to skip a few starts to avoid 200 innings. Cravy on the other hand will likely end up in the bullpen for a good chunk of the year. He has already passed his career high for innings (83 last year). They do have a goofy August schedule to possibly skip some starts. Now they're in a stretch with just 1 day off in 30 days. Then they have off 4 days in a 12 day period in the end of August.
There are a number of guys to add, but also quite a few will be dropped. FAs: Ramirez, Parra, Lohse, Cotts, Broxton Likely dropped: Kintzler, Centeno, one of Schafer or Peterson Possibly dropped: Hellweg, Hector Gomez
He said Braun is the last first rounder to have a major impact on the Brewers. He didn't say they were all busts. He also said you have to go for it in 2008 and 2011, so he admits the value of those trades, just that it has depleted the farm system, especially with a few poor drafts in recent years. I also took it more as Bill Michaels really putting him on the spot with his questions. Lucroy didn't sound comfortable answering, but ended up giving a pretty honest assessment of the Brewers organization.
Next move, Jungman gets sent down after his start on the 5th and a bat is brought up. Don't need a 5th starter until the 25th, when Peralta should be ready.
The other wrinkle is all the off days this month with the all star break, 1 day off before and 1 day off after. If they were to send Jungman down, they could do it after his next start and not need a 5th starter until the 25th.
The MILB roster for the Sky Sox shows Dominguez status as "Reserve" and Burgos is still on the temporary inactive list. So with the roster full, they still need to make 2 more moves when those two become active.
The problem in Colorado Springs hasn't been home runs, they actually have the 2nd fewest home runs in the league, but they are near the top in walks allowed.
http://www.blessyouboys.com/2015/6/2/8694285/hernan-perez-tigers-options-dfa Timely article asking why he was still on the Tiger's roster. Appears he was out of options, but showed some promise in the minors.
