  1. Why was Morgan playing so far off the line with a RH hitter at bat? I'm glad he was, as it gave Lamb enough time to score from 1b on the double....but that was an odd bit of positioning.
  2. Those Cadillac commercials where they have people talking while driving in one of their vehicles on poorly-lit, reddish-purple scense... ...aside from the lady who used to be on "Grey's Anatomy," are they using celebrities, or people I'm supposed to otherwise recognize? From the ads, I get the sense that I'm supposed to know who they are...but I don't.
  3. SPOILER WARNING - FIRST TWO HOURS OF "HEROES" Definite X-Men influences in the premiere. 2012 Peter Petrelli goes back in time to prevent persecution and capture of super-powered individuals. "Days of Future Past" says 'Hi.' Then he transfers the consciousness of 2008 Peter into another body (Cassandra Nova-style...although I'm sure it's been done in other books). The "super villains break out of captivity" main-story is too much of an archetype to tie in to an individual story / comic. Doctor, while researching the nature of the characters' super powers, experiments on himself, gains super-strength and agility....until his skin starts peeling. I've seen other people make comparisons to "The Fly" motion picture, but I'm sure Mohinder is on the verge of spouting blue fur and saying "Oh my stars and garters." ...and tyguy already mentioned "The German," a new villain with magnetic-based powers. Also, Typhoid Mary / Nikki has a new personality...with ice powers. On the plus side, no sign of the Taskmaster-like girl from New Orleans on opening night. As I mentioned in the movie thread, I hadn't actually read "Watchmen" until this summer, so I didn't understand the full extent of the borrowing. I still enjoy Heroes, but more in terms of being a genre that I enjoy than a true appreciation of the narrative.
  4. Crysis (PC) was released last November. Their newest game, Crysis Warhead, came out last week.
  5. Should we start a new 'Heroes' thread, or just post about it in this thread later tonight?
  6. I don't know how you're justifying "more productive" based on this year's numbers. Hart, 2008 -- .272 / .306 / .470 / .776 OPS (591 AB, 45 2b, 20 HR, 278 TB, 27 BB: 102 K) Cameron '08 -- .238 / .326 / .480 / .806 OPS (421 AB, 23 2b, 25 HR, 202 TB, 51 BB: 137 K) Also, Hart's .483 OPS isn't exactly lighting up September either. Is Corey a lost cause? Of course not. But at the same time, his OPS is down more than 100 points from last season, and he's taking even fewer walks now than he did last year (which would have been cause for more concern if his .295 batting average didn't lift his OBP into the .350s). If the Brewers don't give serious consideration to finding a quality backup / replacement for Hart in the off-season, it's cause for concern. Hart's drop off is eerily similar to Bill Hall from '06 to '07 (without the position shifts to blame it on), and that didn't end well. Cameron's play should be at least average next season, so I don't see him as the main problem.
  7. I believe that you can just unplug the hard drive and install it into your new 360.Reliability problems are the biggest reason that I still can't bring myself to buy a 360 in addition to my PS3.
  8. Finally the 8-1 finish we've been told to wait for....even if it wasn't what we all had in mind.
  9. Great finish! The U.S. rookies (Kim, Mahan, Weekly, Holmes, Stricker & Curtis) were the in-calculable factor when looking at this team going in. Curtis struggled most, and he was an automatic qualifier (plus, he still might win his singles match). There's a real possibility that Harrington, Westwood, and Garcia may go winless in this Ryder Cup. Talk about turning the tables.
  10. Beautiful putt by Mahan on the 17th to guaranty the U.S. a half point.
  11. Anthony Kim wins 5&4 over Sergio Garcia, who had just killed the U.S. team in the prior two cups. Both captains knew what they were doing with the first match; look for Kim to stick around the matches they think can turn...in order to give an emotional boost and rally the crowds. Mickelson....ugh. (My one real gripe with Azinger was putting Mickelson out in the Saturday 4-ball, when he was pushing everything to the left in the morning.) Perry, back to 3up :D
  12. No Viva Pinata on the Wii (it's made by Rare Software, who Microsoft bought out from Nintendo during the prior generation of consoles), although there is a DS game that came out recently. Very good summary of the Ghostbusters scenario; I didn't want to try to explain it myself. 2009 is the 25th anniversary of the original Ghostbusters movie, so there is some thought that the game will be delayed until next year (if it ever gets completed). Sony is thought to be interested in having the game completed because the Ghostbusters franchise is a Sony property.
  13. NBC. Now. All four of the morning matches have stareted, but its' really early.
  14. Heck, I can tell you that. New tracklist (go to Wikipedia), plus you can upload all of your RB1 DLC, and for an extra $5 - all of the songs from RB1 (except for about 3 songs, due to licensing. I'm also assuming you have the 360/PS3 version of the game) New instruments (I'm not buying; PS3 already has wireless guitars....although the PS3 version of RB2 will finally work with Guitar Hero guitars, something they've recently patched into RB1). No more band leaders on the World Tour; more options for your avatar....pretty much more of everything. Plus, you can issue performance-based challenges to friends with the game. PS3 version also adds trophy support. Edit: Speaking of DLC, PS3/360 owners can enter a contest to win their choice of a free DLC song. (I only mention because I just won one.)
  15. U.S. leads in 2 matches, All Square in the other two in the Friday foursomes.
  16. I've watched meaningless games in September, just because it's a long way to next April. Why would I stop watching while the games mean something? (Heck, the Brewers showed more fight in this series than they did the whole rest of the month.) Please wait until the bandwagon comes to a complete stop before jumping off.
  17. I haven't even picked up any of the games on my list; passed on Madden thusfar (pun intended), and am waiting for Rock Band 2 on the PS3. Just under halfway through R&C F:ToD (PS3) and am really enjoying it. Will definitely get the PSN sequel ("Quest for Booty").
  18. Beware the closer in non-save situations.
  19. Anyone else hoping the Brewers bench Hart for a day or two? Gwynn might not have much punch, but Hart is just in a funk lately....and that's without the home fans booing him. If the hit last night didn't snap him out of it, maybe a few days on the pine might.
  20. I always just hit the 'quote' or 'reply' buttons in the bottom, right-hand corner of the last post in the thread (or whichever one I'm looking to quote). Back on-topic, how about another high-pitch count inning for Harden here in the 2nd!
  21. Sure, the U.S. team won't have Tiger Woods, and they've lost the last 2, but someone else has to be looking forward to this event getting started. (For the life of me, I've never understood why EA hasn't put a Ryder Cup mode into its Tiger Woods games.) Team USA
  22. Finally, drinking a glass of Robinade during a Brewers game pays off.
  23. Love the 2-base steal by Kendall. Heads up baseball!
  24. I think Hart has room to improve in RF, but I also believe that he has all of the necessary skills / tools to play out there. His arm is pretty good, and he's one of the fastest players on the team (despite his size). He's not Adam Dunn-bad in the field. If Prince is traded in the off-season, I'd rather find someone whose bat plays at 1b, than trying to find a replacement outfielder. Unfortunately, I think it's an open question as to whether Corey's bat justifies an everyday role at 1b; his 2007 was great, but his '06 and '08 numbers are rather pedestrian. Admittedly, though, I haven't seen Gamel play at either position. Assuming he's the replacement for Prince, the net effect of the rf/1b decision for Hart is virtually nil....so I don't see much of an advantage in forcing 2 players to adjust to new positions.
  25. Weeks / Durham (not a strict platoon) Hardy Fielder Braun Cameron Hart Lamb / Dillon (Hall if he has good splits against the particular LHP) Kendall / Rivera (although I'd like to see Salome start one game if they're out of it)
