  1. That guy knows how to spend a Saturday night.
  2. I would say that it will be Sheets or Villanueva.
  3. If Ned is going to pull Weeks like that, then why doesn't he just sit him altogether? He's basically just making Graffanino's job there more difficult - rather than already having a couple AB's tonight, he comes off the bench cold. If they feel they can't trust Weeks to hit a flyball to the outfield or a medium-speed groundball, then maybe they should just send him down or DL him. I'm not questioning the move of using Graffy there, I guess I'm just questioning the way the entire second base position is being handles right now. I believe that is the second time in roughly a week that Weeks has been pulled in that situation.
  4. I'll tell you one thing - there's no one I'd rather have at the plate when I need a groundball to second base than Gwynn. He does it even when you don't need it.
  5. Yeah, the only thing they check is purses/handbags. If you wore some cargo shorts, you could easily put a half pint in one of the front pockets and get in with zero hassle at all.
  6. Yeah, this is essentially an OBP issue. If Weeks was able to get going and get his OBP up around the .360-.370 range and they moved him up to the second or leadoff spot, there would be more three run bombs. Homers are still the most efficient way to score runs, so I'm glad that the Brewers offense is built on them. Now they just need more guys getting on base. One thing that worries me is that you could see this coming from a mile away before the season, with Mench, Estrada, and to a slightly lesser extent Hardy in the lineup on a frequent basis.
  7. Do we get to send letters back and forth with them, like I did with my Korean pen pal in third grade? That would pretty much rule. Just kidding. This is a great idea, I love how SoSH does theirs.
  8. It's also a scary bullpen in a positive sense, with Turnbow having the highest.
  9. Bruce - if you personally feel negative towards a player, you are going to feel a "everybody loves him" vibe when someone posts something that says he might not be terrible. If you like a player, you'll get the "everybody is hating on my guy" thing when someone posts negatively about him. It happens pretty often to a lot of people, and I think that's what's going on here.
  10. That's pretty much what you're asking for when you start Jenkins against a decent LHP. Unfortunately they have no other options, except maybe freeing Joe Dillon.
  11. Well, I wouldn't say there was a correlation between Maddux visiting the mound and Villy serving one up to a bad hitter.
  12. Why not just kick it old school with NyQuil? I definitely prefer that in the liquid form. I just drink it, get into a comfortable position in bed, and I'm out like a light within 15 minutes. It pretty much always makes me feel better, though I usually will wake up with a slight headache that goes away when I take a shower.
  13. I've been considering adding "Free Joe Dillon?" to my sig for a couple weeks now. In regards to why he hasn't gotten a shot, he fell into the common AAAA trap that a lot of players do. He was a late bloomer in the minors, and raked. Then he got a very short stint in the majors, in which he didn't rake so much. Since he had been very successful in AAA immediately before getting called up, he was branded as a AAAA guy. For some marginal AAA guys the reverse happens - they get called up and rake for 100 AB's and they are suddenly a good player and get shot after shot. Another guy who got the "AAAA" shaft is the almighty Jack Cust. It took the right team at the right time to finally give him an extended shot - now he's hitting .262/.390/.563 with 15 HR in 183 AB's. Dillon obviously wouldn't do that, but he deserves a shot regardless.
  14. I would never trade Weeks for Roberts. There's still a lot of potential in Weeks, whereas Roberts pretty much is what he is, a second baseman who's going to hit around .300, get on at a decent clip, hit 10-12 HR, steal bases, and play a below-average second base. I would certainly trade for Roberts as a rental, though, because I do think Weeks' wrist is hurting him and Roberts would solidify the position. But, the asking price for Roberts is going to be too high for the Brewers, I think.
  15. Bill Mazeroski Red Schoendist Luis Aparicio Phil Rizzuto To name a few. There are also a lot of guys that have gone in in recent years that played in the Negro Leagues who appear to have not been very good players and were put in solely because they played in that league. I just think Sheffield should not be in the same elite class as Willie Mays Willie Mays would probably disagree with you on that one.
  16. It already is extremely dilluted. There's loads of players there that don't belong. Sheffield, on the other hand, is a 100% lock, he's one of the best hitters of the generation. Manny Ramirez was a lock two years ago already. Just an amazing hitter. Players like he and Sheff don't dillute the Hall.
  17. "steroids is something you shoot in your butt" Yes, they certainly is.
  18. I have a bad feeling some oats are being sown and our players are out on the town. The thing with this theory is that every team has a bunch of guys who party it up every night of the week, so like Al pointed out in regards to the "fatigue factor" not existing because both teams play every day, I don't think the hangover factor is real either because it effects both teams. I think kmcasper's theory makes some sense, they lose some day games after night games and days when three or four starters get days off. Most times these are Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Really, though, it's just noise.
  19. I'd guess that she's probably pretty mature, so hanging out with the boys isn't something that interests her a lot. But, you know, everybody is a different person. Maybe your buddy just says that he invited her over to hang out, when he really didn't. Maybe he's a different dude when he's with the lady, maybe he doesn't want her to be around his friends and see that he acts differently with her. Maybe she doesn't want to be serious and just enjoys spending the night a couple times a week. Like most situations involving men and women, there are lots of maybes.
  20. I've been looking at the TuneBase, actually, because I don't really have a place to put my iPod (and I don't want to mount anything to my dash), with that one it has that metal neck and what appears to be a pretty solid dock.
  21. MLB covers up scandals and stuff all the time with players. Look at the entire "steroid era". MLB was complicit in the entire thing.
  22. Even though this is a different iPod issue, I'll make this into a general iPod thread... I am in the market for an FM transmitter. I have the Griffin iTrip, and while it works "OK", I don't love it. I'm looking for a new transmitter for my car, I can just keep using the iTrip when I use one at home. Any recomendations?
  23. It will get there. "Boxer" will not be denied.
