  1. Wes Helms has the dreamiest eyes I have ever seen. No lie.
  2. So was this ever legit at all? I was at work today.
  3. Cappy's on tonight, really sucks that bad luck makes it seem as though he is pitching poorly.
  4. How about calling him up when Gwynn goes to Cooperstown, as opposed to playing a man down?
  5. If you believe those guys are not the products of steroids/HGH/PED's, you are either blind or unwilling to look at it objectively. Their bodies may be to a degree, but the statistics they put up aren't. That's his point. You don't just load up on steroids and HGH and hit 70 bombs. It doesn't work that way. Otherwise guys would be stupid not to take them.
  6. Something has to be done soon. Willis isn't that "something". That's all I'm saying. He is the most overrated player in the league. If anything is done (and I don't think anything will be), it'll just be as simple as Villanueva moving into the rotation. But, you don't move pitchers as established as Capuano is to the bullpen.
  7. I would rather have Capuano than Willis, to be honest. Maybe people pay too much attention to his cool delivery and not enough to his performance, but Willis has been awful this year, and that continues a trend from last year. I think his arm's going to blow up pretty soon. I am all for trading Gwynn, though. EDIT: Just saw that Willis got roughed up again tonight - 6 ER and 11 H allowed in 3 IP against the might Cardinals offense. That pushed his ERA to 5.13.
  8. Selling Cappy before he hits the clearance rack? Not really, they'd be selling him at his lowest point. That doesn't make any sense, he's a pitcher that's pretty much been a 4.00 ERA guy for two seasons. That's good. I really just don't think Holliday is that amazing of a player, either, though. Now, Cabrera is a stud. Holliday's just a good OF.
  9. and will probably give Frankie off either tonight or tomorrow. That's something I'll have to see to believe. I can think of only one time when he's given someone else the save. If there's one thing that annoys me about Yost it's the insistence to go to Cordero just because it's a save situation, regardless of other issues (like how many days in a row he has pitched). Every pitcher in that pen - even Spurling - can hold a two or three run lead for three outs once in a while when Cordero has gone three in a row or something.
  10. The bat plays, and if it's Jenkins or Graffy vs. a LHP, they should go with Graffy. I'd like to see a spray chart on balls in play allowed by Cappy to see how many get hit to LF, though. I can't seem to locate one anywhere. I'm very certain the Brewers have this info and apparently it doesn't scare them into thinking Graffy's going to have to field many balls out there.
  11. I was wanting Graffy to play against LHP's in the OF, so I'm glad they're trying it out. Nothing to lose. Though I will say my jaw dropped to hit the keyboard when I looked at Yahoo!'s lineup page and they have him listed as playing CF. I was relieved to see that was a misprint.
  12. Utley blows by people even more due to his defense, too. In comparison, Fielder's defense has been awful this year (as has Braun's). Aaron Rowand has really been great this year - 9.7 WARP3.
  13. Barry's sitting again, though. This is going to be a 15 inning game.
  14. He'll be in Oakland for another couple years at least, but more likely they'll lock him by buying out one or two FA years, which is what they have done with Haren, Harden, and Swisher.
  15. He's kind of a Coors Wonder. You might be looking at basically another Mench (who was a creation of Arlington to a degree). I wouldn't trade two solid starting pitchers for him.
  16. Someone needs to bring back the jhericurl and headband look.
  17. The Weeks benching is justified, as far as I'm concerned. I've been a huge fan of Weeks the whole time, but there's just not any signs that he's about to bust out or anything. I'd rather see him go back on the DL than just get benched, though.
  18. Sweet. BaseWars is on that site.
  19. Matt Cain is so good. I have no idea how the guy is 3-10. That's a shame.
  20. Nothing has really changed all that much to me. Maybe you're just seeing him in a different light after the euphoria of winning these close games. I agree with this. He's pretty much the same guy as far as I can tell. He's been going out to talk to pitchers when he thinks they're nibbling all season.
  21. "Elevated testosterone levels" is a dead giveaway for steroids. All of the stories I have seen today say there were steroids found in his body.
  22. I would put Villanueva on that list, too. He's probably a more realistic option than Parra joining the rotation at this point. I expect and hope that they will stand pat. I don't think you can look at starting pitchers in a vacuum like that, either. When one gets hurt (especially one the caliber of Sheets) it has a cascading effect on the whole staff. If one of those guys doesn't step in effectively, the bullpen becomes more taxed - and this can have residual effects even after Sheets returns, because someone like Wise could get over-worked during this stretch and have a difficult time regaining form. This injury is the first real cause for concern for me in regards to holding onto the division.
  23. Why did Marmol hit in a tie game in the 7th inning?
  24. Still, unlike most GM's, Beane isn't afraid to cut his losses, maybe because even when h does, people call his mistakes "brilliant!" I was attempting some mild sarcasm. I wasn't really a fan of the deal when they got him, and I was hoping they would just flat-out release him. He is seriously cooked.
  25. Like someone else said - Vick was a bad dude in college, too. He was just like Marcus, just apparently a little more intelligent.
