  1. Well, this isn't going to end well.
  2. This is a huge blow to the chances of having Gallardo for the playoffs if the Brewers truly keep his innings at 175. Yeah, but they don't have to be in win now mode. A much bigger blow would be pitching him 220 innings and having his shoulder give out and having him pitch 0 innings for a year and a half.
  3. Suzuki will get the majority of the AB's. I'd expect Bowen to just get moved again shortly. Once Landon Powell gets healthy again, he will resume banging on the door, as well.
  4. How do you know A-Rod doesn't cheat? He's certainly cheated on his wife (this doesn't matter, by the way). Who cares? He's a baseball player, not the pope.
  5. If that was a "shot", they're shooting blanks. Melvin can stand pat and see a net gain from this move. The only upgrade for the Cubs is that the media will love this move. They always love any white dude with sweet stubble that is "scrappy". Add in that he's a catcher, and you've got the next best thing to heaven.
  6. I always thought Buscemi's in The Wedding Singer was just great.
  7. Chemo is very scary. My grandpa had lung cancer (which he survived and is doing well now and liking retirement), and one of the most surreal moments of my entire life was watching my grandpa cry in agony after receiving a treatment. That was the first time I had ever seen that, it was a mind-blower, it makes you realize how brutal that disease is. You just have to re-assure them that they're going to be OK. Just don't be discouraged if they vehemently disagree at first. Everybody handles it differently, too, and the anti-nausea drugs have been much improved.
  8. Lincecum is just fantastic. And whoever that Misch dude is - good job, bro.
  9. I like Bonds, and things like this make me like him more. I love how he can just drive a whole bunch of people nuts by just choosing to not talk to the media. He really did nothing here - he is so reviled that things he doesn't do make people angry. The media treats him like crap, and there's nothing for him to gain by talking to them. When he does, he speaks with candor, and suddenly there's the "Barry's just a jerk" crowd popping up. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.
  10. I'm pretty sure he was actually hurt, though I didn't believe it originally, either. He was supposedly unable to even make it through a simulated game a few weeks ago. Let's hope Melvin can trade him or he can eat some innings in September if needed.
  11. The only on that definitely won't happen is the first one. Otherwise, it's not like the others are crazy.
  12. Bedard's not a number 2 pitcher. He's an ace.
  13. Micah Owings is fantabulous. I would have drafted him as an offensive player, too. He hit .355/.470/.719 in his year at Tulane. He was the best two-way player in the country.
  14. Julio Santana?
  15. I agree with Greg - Simmons is a really good player, way better offensively than Mason. He had a first year where he struggled to find his place on the team, and then he got hurt. Mason's just a solid dude, though, and in the NBA those are pretty difficult to come by.
  16. I cannot believe that I am so insignificant. I don't even make that list? I need to cause more uproar. This is a call to arms.
  17. Not to mention the 2004 Red Sox and 2005 White Sox. That White Sox team still has that "smartball" myth surrounding it, but they hit 200+ bombs that year. Basically they hit bombs and pitched, just like the Tigers did last year (and this year, aside from their terrible pen).
  18. Yeah, that's worrisome. One thing that kind of makes me wonder regarding Lofton is that he has been awesome for a month and a half now (I think I read in that Rotoworld link he's 9th in OPS since June 1), and you have to figure that he's bound to regress.
  19. I've heard some of the same things that Brian alluded to over there... troubling to say the least. Though, I know that there are a lot of people here that list Waterworld among their favorite films.
  20. So basically the fans that have seen the Brewers and Cubs the most (Brewers, Reds, Pirates, Cardinals)...say the Brewers will win the division. That's one way to interpret it, I guess, but I think that fans of those teams are the ones who also harbor the greatest bias against the Cubs since they are in the same division. I would guess that the people in IL who said they wouldn't make it were die-hard White Sox fans that hate the Cubs.
  21. Oh yeah? Well you're not Jesus Christ, so there. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
  22. One thing you can do to keep the stuff on your iPod now is to set it to update manually, rather than have it sync up automatically when you hook up your iPod. This program works pretty well for ripping songs of your iPod (and it's free): www.ephpod.com/
  23. I'm one of the lucky few who doesn't have a difficult time losing weight. I noticed I had developed a litle bit of a spare tire in early April, so I switched to diet soda. I've lost around 10 pounds or so and I'm about 145 now (I'm 5'9" or so). I guess I'm also lucky that I'm only 23, so that plays a part in why I am able to shed the lbs.
