  1. I guess I personally think Ziggler is far better than Del Rio or especially Sheamus. They definitely would have to let him run with it at least until Mania. I'm not an advocate of hotshotting the belts around, but if it's kept on Ziggler and Punk, it works for me. It really sucks that there is a PPV in between Rumble and Mania, because it can really cheapen the Rumble. They're too tempted to do something like have a champ drop the belt at Elimination Chamber instead of developing a longer program, at least from Rumble to Mania. I guess I'm not all that wild on having to do Punk vs Jericho.
  2. I think Devin Mesoraco will end up catching more games for the Reds than Hanigan, and he's going to be very, very good.
  3. Yes, but I really doubt they will have a current champ win. Or at least I hope not. I think you can use some sort of logic like how Punk knew he was going to lose, so he put his name in the hat to make sure he would have an opportunity to regain his championship.
  4. You just have to be careful as to which talking head you believe when it involves a Boras client. Just Google "Jon Heyman Scott Boras" once and you'll see. There are others, too, but he is the most egregious. I will say, at least he wasn't one of the people who was forwarding the completely baseless idea that Fielder was somehow going to sign a one year deal somewhere just because Ryan Madson did.
  5. Yeah, so Punk can get in after losing to Ziggler, hopefully.
  6. I assume they have some big swerve planned since they highlighted the "every superstar is eligible" stipulation in that video the other night. If they do the empty ring scenario, I think that sucks.
  7. Exactly. That's why the full-time guys have to win. They have to try to draw TV ratings, sell other PPVs (since the network has been pushed way back), sell house show tickets, sell merch, etc. and the only way to do that is to have the young guys that go on the tours and do all the TV and PPV's go over and make them stars. That's one issue I have with this WM already if they do Jericho vs Punk. You already have a predictable main event, a predictable Undertaker match, and then you would have a predictable WWE title match since all of the older guys are not going to be sticking around. I really don't see Jericho sticking around much past Mania before he goes to do his hair metal stuff. It only makes sense to make the young guys look good when the most eyes are on them.
  8. It's because WWE is HHH himself in this situation. His wife is the head of creative. I don't really have a problem with him wrestling, but if he comes in and beats a young guy and cuts them off at the knees, that is the big problem. He's certainly not the kind of guy that is about the business like a Foley and would put a young promising guy over and make him a star, at least in my opinion. It's not like he was a superior worker in his prime, and then they'd be asking a guy like Punk to really carry him to a decent match at this point. As far as Taker, I'm fine with him being a special attraction that just wrestles at WM. He's pretty much a part of what makes it WM. They won't be booking him to come in and wrestle a young guy, so I have no problem. I think if it's HHH/Taker again, it will be an uglier version than last year, which was basically high spot/rest/high spot. So, even though his stuff isn't personally the kind of wrestling I like to watch, he typically has good psychology in his matches. He tells a good story.
  9. Really nice win tonight, aside from Bogut getting hurt AGAIN.
  10. That's interesting. I'd have to imagine there is enough of a market for him that the Brewers won't get him at "their price", but still interesting.
  11. They just fall back on the fact that once upon a time (with the right guy) HHH could draw. The thing is, it takes some guys a while to start to draw and to make fans care enough about seeing them win or get beat. When they hotshot the title back and forth and stuff, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of having guys on top that don't draw. Then Vince/HHH decide they have to bring old guys back to pop a rating or buyrate. It's WCW-esque, but it's really just something that seemingly happened with any booker in history that also was a wrestler or had a kid that was, be it Dusty Rhodes, Vern Gagne, Kevin Nash, Hogan, Eddie Graham, etc. They figure if no one else is drawing, at least they will keep it in the family and push the people they trust to the top. Vince's solution to any problem is to add more McMahon's to the mix.
  12. http://wrestlechat.net/re...to-wrestlemania-28-card/ I just don't want HHH barging in. They need to make young stars, and it would be great if one of Punk or Ziggler came out of Mania carrying the ball. I'm all about having the full-time wrestlers pushed. It sucks when you see the old timers come in and step on their toes. When HHH sees a guy struggling to get over as a superstar, he should remember how much he sucked when he was champ for the first time, and how Foley had to make him. If they are going to use Foley to put Ziggler over strong at Mania, I'm cool with that, because Foley will get the job done. As much as I think HHH/Taker is lame as well, at least it's two lame guys and no consequence aside from the streak on the line. I would hope HHH realized how bad he looked in the match with Nash.
  13. Player of the Year: Weeks Pitcher of the Year: Greinke Rookie of the Year: Gamel Most Improved: Braddock Surprise: Parra Disappointment: Morgan (he continues to not take walks and gets less lucky on BABIP and has his average dip into the .240's) First contract extension: Axford. Greinke goes to FA and gets more than the Brewers can afford. First player traded: K-Rod What Position in the NL Central will the Brewers finish: 3rd (Reds 1st, Cards 2nd) Record: 83-79
  14. Anyone else see the rumors of Jericho/Taker and Punk/HHH at Mania?
  15. It was a great 6 year relationship. Lots of fun times.
  16. Except when he doesn't. He deserves a ton of credit for this, though. You had blowhard buffoons like Mitch Williams (and other media morons saying that he might take a one year deal) saying that Prince should be mad that he wasn't signed earlier, etc., but you never heard that come out of Prince's camp. The market came to them and they got an unreal deal.
  17. I don't get why they can't just do some good matches mixed in with stuff that forwards the storylines. Instead of giving away PPV-caliber matches on Raw or Smackdown, let the mid-carders shine on the weekly TV shows in 7-10 minute matches to get them established and have the characters that are involved in the big PPV main event storylines cut promos, etc. I want longer story arcs. I think a lot of fans would prefer that, and it makes the pay-off that much better.
  18. Look for Hot and Ready pizzas at Little Caesar's to go up to $6 now.
  19. If I were Joey Votto, I'd get on the horn to Boras immediately.
  20. I'm all about making fun of Heyman. Wish I would have thought of the idea.
  21. The silly thing is that they have been doing this build for Miz/Truth for a few weeks now, and then they have the match on Raw and have Truth beat him clean. I would think they would have wanted to pay it off on PPV, but judging from the lack of reaction from the crowd, I'm guessing no one really cared anyhow. I know I didn't. I pretty much have the same beef with the Punk/Laurinitis stuff. That seemed like something they should do on PPV. Now, you have HHH sticking his nose in on a feud that could be pretty hot. I wish he would go away and figure out how to develop some new stars.
  22. The latest from Boras/Heyman: Indications are Prince Fielder has narrowed the field of teams in his derby to four or five, and the Nationals, Orioles and Rangers are believed to be among those teams. So he's down to a "final four'' (or so), if you will. The other involved team or two aren't known, but an unpublicized team can't be ruled out. Under-the-radar pursuers, often dubbed the "mystery'' teams, have become prominent the past couple years, as both Cliff Lee and Albert Pujols wound up signing with such a team. The other teams connected to Fielder at one time or other have included the Mariners, Marlins, Blue Jays, Cubs and incumbent Brewers, but none of those teams has been seen as a favorite in recent days. The Nationals have been seen as a favorite for weeks, though some people connected to the team say they are reluctant to give out an ultra long deal again, after signing Jayson Werth to a seven-year, $126-million last winter. The Orioles, like their local rival, have seemed to downplay their interest. But their biggest issue may be luring Fielder with little immediate prospect of winning. The Rangers, a team that came out of the woodwork to sign Adrian Beltre last winter, have suggested that they are "unlikely'' to sign Fielder based mostly on requests for a deal of eight to 10 years. They are clearly still involved after signing Yu Darvish. Though they don't seem likely to be the high bidder, they remain hopeful that a chance to be part of one of the game's great lineups will enhance their chances. http://jon-heyman.blogs.c.../entry/33714192/34551946
  23. I was always a huge fan of Ted Davis on Bucks games, as well as Howard David back in the mid-90's.
  24. I would imagine this is a heel turn for Ryder. Then we'll get a Cena/Ryder feud... oh, goodie! That whole segment (or two, I guess) with Cena/Kane/Ryder/Eve was possibly the worst-acted bit I have ever seen. It just dragged on and on and on, and then Cena tops it off with the angry face. They literally wasted about 1/3 of the show on an angle that has no steam. And then it ends with a "broken back"! I thought the Jericho talking made sense, since they have a PPV to sell. I would have liked if he wouldn't have talked again, but I can at least understand why they did it. I definitely agree with Toby on R-Truth. Terrible.
