I'm sure the Twins fans thought that about Ortiz. Who was protecting Fielder all year? Protection is not that important over a 162 game schedule. David Ortiz didn't sign for $150 million.

All it takes is one stupid team to offer him that, though. I think he'll be an albatross after year three or so wherever he goes. And I'm a fan. It's been a fun time watching him, and the Brewers got his best years. All the better and good luck to the guy. I'm never going to hate him regardless of where he goes, though I'm not the type to hate guys who leave the Brewers unless I did already when he was a Brewer.

I took the season off until it got put on Netflix, so I started watching it Friday night and am through the first part of the Christmas episode. It has been a far better season than I thought it would be. Possibly because of my low expectations going in.

My girlfriend works in publishing, so sometimes I get to read some stuff that she thinks I will enjoy that her company distributes. Currently, I'm reading "Walk Like A Man" by Robert Wiersema. I am pretty sure they were drinking beer during games before. It's just not the cause of the collapse. They quit hitting well that month, too. This is typical Boston media stuff in my opinion. -

This made me miss FJM. Fantastic and totally right. Can't believe people would say this garbage about Francona. Good guy, good manager, etc. When the Red Sox drank beer all the time and won championships, that was their "chemistry", now it's the cause of their demise. How stupid. -

This is a pure and total hatchet job on Francona. Chuckiehacks is dead-on - ownership fed this stuff to sell out Francona/Epstein because they knew Theo would be leaving. Stuff like this isn't exactly uncommon in baseball. -
