  1. I'm not saying they absolutely need to sell low on him. Just that he can go into Wes Helms 2005 mode now instead of being an everyday player.
  2. Another season, baby! http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/135055798.html Roenicke said Mat Gamel probably would get first shot at replacing Fielder at first base if he signs elsewhere. But Roenicke said McGehee could be an option at first as well if the Brewers find another third baseman. One way or the other, Roenicke said he expects McGehee to bounce back from his poor 2011 season and play somewhere in the lineup.
  3. It's mind-blowing that they seem to be ready to just count on it. It's not like he was a special player prior to last season.
  4. X 2. He didn't play nice with media, etc., so that is also a big part of why he's not mentioned and why no reporter makes him their pet cause.
  5. If Mitch Moreland is a roadblock to a team pursuing Prince Fielder, I would be shocked. I'm not saying whether they are pursuing him or not, but Moreland isn't all that good. That's a pretty huge upgrade.
  6. Jon Heyman was on MLB Network a little while ago really talking up Baltimore, as well. Tough to call a market of 7-8 teams "cold".
  7. This is precisely what I think will happen.
  8. He's got two rings and is a surefire first ballot Hall of Famer. There's nothing for him to prove and this is going to be his last contract. He should try to bleed every single dime out of whatever team he signs with.
  9. Wow. I really didn't think we would see a $200+ million dollar offer even rumored again for a long, long time.
  10. They have been my pick to land Prince for a couple years and I think I am going to stick with them in the pool.
  11. Finally. Too bad it's too late for him to be able to enjoy it.
  12. The Cubs, and I really still think Baltimore is going to come into play at some point.
  13. Yeah... it's not like he was the problem there. He's pretty spectacular and has been for a while.
  14. I don't think there is any way they can afford both of those guys. I'd rather go with Ramirez and a cheap SS not named Yuniesky Betancourt.
  15. Toronto would be awesome. I'd definitely buy one of those cool new hats if he signed there.
  16. Can I just say, I really hope it's not Jimmy Rollins?
  17. Yeah... forget that. If they are going to blow money, at least Fielder is durable.
  18. I do hope Dagu is smokescreening here, but I don't think so.
  19. I don't agree with this. Look at Jay and Craig on the Cardinals. Breaking guys in as backups initially can be a very smart move. Teams don't do it much now because of the six-year FA clock.I agree with Greg... The thing with those guys is that they had a manager that actually broke them in, and used them in situations for them to succeed. I'm not sure I trust RR to do the same with Green.
  20. From Haudricourt, confirming what I had said earlier... One thing he told me was that there was no truth to the national report that the Brewers have told Prince Fielder's agent, Scott Boras, that they'd be willing to boost the five-year, $100 million offer made in the spring of 2010 to six years, $120 million if that would help do a deal. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/134919838.html This is all just a Boras thing, and the Brewers aren't in on the bidding, but if Boras can make it sound like they are, he can create even more of a bidding war than he already has next week.
  21. I watched some ROH shoot stuff with Raven the other day and there was some "best of ROH" type footage included at the end of the show and it made me curious about the company. So... for those of you who have watched a lot of it, what event do you recommend that I start with? From all the way back - like when Punk, etc. were there. It looks like some real, quality wrestling.
  22. Johnson stole the thunder from Sheets 18k game. The next game the Braves played was a Big Unit no-no. How many times does a guy strike out 18 in a game and not even get pitcher of the week honors? Sheets was just unlucky his entire career. It didn't help that he couldn't do anything with the bat and had Bad Chad Moeller as a catcher. It was actually a perfect game, I think.
  23. They are going to be so bad. Colletti is trying the Sabean model, when they never put a good enough team around Bonds (of course, Ned was there at the time to learn from the master). Now that they have paid Kemp, they will assuredly be an 85-87 win team most of his career. Not bad enough to fire the GM, and maybe you luck into a championship one year.
