  1. Yeah, it seems pretty random.
  2. I wouldn't complain a bit if they signed Pena, but I do want Gamel to get a chance to play every day and the only spot that will happen at is 1B or on someone else's roster.
  3. I was lucky enough to see Justin play all of For Emma when it was just a self-release and then later for when they played the re-release show when it came out on Jagjaguwar. Both at the Nucleus in Eau Claire. Pretty special stuff, especially the first one. Listening to him play those songs and thinking "wow, this is going to be a really big deal". I saw the band play at the Pabst in like August of '08, and that was great, too. I really don't care much for the new stuff, though.
  4. Smackdown... - Cody Rhodes is a better commentator than Booker T. - The Wade Barrett push seems to be working. I like the stuff happening with he and Orton. Hated that Ziggler had to get put through a table, though. - Daniel Bryan is old school and awesome. Love that he is actually selling an injury. Also, Michael Cole does need to go away. - Is Ryder actually over? - DiBiase is just lost. - Mark Henry is so good as a monster. Plus, I love that entrance song. I know some don't like the feud with Big Show, but I do. There won't be any five star matches, but the psychology of the feud is solid. Also, love Henry selling the injury. Does Smackdown just have writers that understand how this stuff works that much better than Raw does? Or just better workers? - Good show.
  5. There's no reason if he called and asked to come to camp that Melvin wouldn't bring him in. Remember Jeff Cirillo? He was coming off of three pathetic seasons and they let him come to camp. It's not like there's any risk to it. It'd be one thing if he was getting guaranteed money, but he wouldn't be. I'm not saying anyone is "owed" anything, but it'd be pretty stupid to not let a talented player come to spring training with your team if he asked, even if he was coming off of injury. If it was a player that played his career elsewhere and had as much success as Sheets has had, I would certainly be thrilled to let him come in and see what he has left. Every season there are reclamation projects/guys coming off injury that have great years. I'm not saying Sheets would, but I think any team would let him try.
  6. Exactly. They need more guys that can potentially help fill the void from Fielder leaving.
  7. I watched Wrestlemania 17 this morning. Man, that's an awesome show.
  8. I always was an admirer of him, even as a Cub. Other then getting over the whole Sheets thing when he was with the Pirates, I like the guy.
  9. Better than Scotty Leius? High praise, right there.
  10. Yes, I believe I heard on ESPN or MLB Network that he is almost ready to jog now. I still think he is a risk worth taking.
  11. I hope Paul sues the league. What an absolute joke.
  12. Yes, I read that at another source, as well. Definitely true that they can offer as much or as little as they want.
  13. In a heartbeat. I have no clue what it would take, though.
  14. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/135218343.html Dallas - The Brewers were interested in retaining reliever LaTroy Hawkins but told him they couldn't make an offer until they saw if Francisco Rodriguez accepted arbitration by the 11 p.m. deadline Wednesday. Hawkins didn't wait around. He is signing with the Los Angeles Angels, reportedly on a one-year deal. Hawkins, who turns 39 in a couple of weeks, recovered from shoulder surgery to have a nice 2011 season for the Brewers. In 52 appearances, he was 3-1 with a 2.42 ERA and became increasingly dependable in the late innings. Hawkins was also a great guy and clubhouse influence, which I'm sure the Brewers will miss.
  15. And one domino from that... http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/135218343.html The Brewers were interested in retaining reliever LaTroy Hawkins but told him they couldn't make an offer until they saw if Francisco Rodriguez accepted arbitration by the 11 p.m. deadline Wednesday. 16. This pretty much demonstrates (yet again) that the only way the Brewers are going to get good pitchers is to develop them or trade for them when teams are trying to avoid paying out big arby raises. If Greinke or Marcum actually hit FA, you can forget about seeing them in a Brewers uniform again.
  17. I vote for a no cuss filter period in the thread when Yuni signs.
  18. Wow, they really were giving him away.
  19. Absolutely amazing if they bring him back. Amazing. I mean, really??? It's almost enough to make me turn in my fan card.
  20. I'd rather start Gamel than trade something of value for Sanchez. He's pretty average.
  21. If it came down to it, I would prefer Ramirez to Rollins because he's a power hitter. Obviously, he can't field well anymore, but he would seem an easy candidate to shift across the infield if that was necessary. I don't care to see Jimmy Rollins OBP .320 and lead off. Yuck.
  22. I loved him in his press conference not knowing the correct way to hold his jersey up.
  23. Raw... pretty weak, IMO. - First, I hate triple threat matches, which they always throw in to headline off-brand PPV's. They are almost always a mess. - Sucked to see Daniel Bryan get squashed. No one wants to see Del Rio in main events. He doesn't draw money. Look at the Vengeance buyrate. I can understand putting the belt on him for the Mexico tour, but otherwise he should just be a solid upper mid-carder that goes for the IC and US belts. - Disappointed that Cena had to help Ryder get his shot and then win the match for him, even though I am glad he's out of the main event. - Kevin Nash is jacked like a mother. I love the wellness policy... The squash/slegehammer stuff was cool, though. I still don't care to watch him try to wrestle HHH, though. Even though they are buddies and can probably work something of a decent match. - Though I was hoping that Ziggler could get in the main event at TLC, I liked that the US title actually got a prominent amount of time. That and the IC belt should be made legitimate again. - In all, TLC looks pretty ho-hum right now. There's certainly no way Punk can lose, which makes for another quite boring main event. - I hope Punk blades at TLC. Someone needs to bleed.
  24. At least A-Rod was 25 and played probably an average to above average SS. If the Rangers were a team that was in a position to afford to give a player a contract like that, it would have been a good contract. He played three years for the Rangers, OPS'ed over 1.000 over the period, and led the AL in HR every year.
