  1. The amount of line drives Braun hits, along with how well he runs, makes me think he can easily hit .300. Not .350 or whatever he's at right now, though. He's going to walk more, too. He is sometimes overly aggressive, but he's getting better at recognizing when he is being worked around.
  2. Did he even cover that team? EDIT: Why didn't I read the article first? I figured that he didn't.
  3. The Brewers could definitely use him.
  4. They need to put Villanueva on the DL for this shoulder tightness he's experiencing and call up Gross.
  5. I can't stand Bud Selig, and I love Barry Bonds. Steroids don't come into a reason for why I feel the way I do about either of them.
  6. Jimmy Osting. Wow. That lineup reminds me that Ryan Thompson is due for some appreciatin', too. And good old Robert Machado. Man were the catchers awful, I remember the immortal Marcus Jensen and Jorge Fabregas behind the plate, too. How many guys had their careers die immediately after coming into contact with that 2002 team? Do it for Izzy!
  7. Yeah, Minutemen are great. That's my favorite song if theirs ("History Lesson - Part II" in case someone else reads this) - I really love that acoustic version that's on "We Jam Econo" at the end. I can't think of a better song that just sums up the entire independent music thing so well. D. Boon was a genius, I'm pretty sure. I'm not even a huge punk fan, but I really love their sound, and their whole attitude.
  8. I agree with RoCo, I definitely didn't want Weeks bunting in that situation. He probably had as good of a chance of drawing a walk as dropping a good sac bunt down against a pitcher like Lidge. And the chances that he GIDP's are slim, too. I don't like the idea of playing for one run when on the road, either, regardless of the makeup of the roster. The cool thing about sitting around and waiting for the three run homer is that sometimes you hit them.
  9. Sam Adams Light tonight for myself. I had forgotten how much I like this beer. Almost three years without drinking erased a lot of good tastes from my memory.
  10. Ankiel can mash. If he starts to take more walks, he could be a downright great hitter, especially if he gets to play CF.
  11. Mench has more PA's against RHP's than Gabe Gross had in the entire time he was up this year. That just ain't right. It borders on absolute stupidity that Gross is stuck in Nashville.

  13. This would be awesome. That lineup will rule with Kendall and Podsednik and no Ramirez or Soriano.

  15. Powell just talked about this during the last game and seemed to have the same opinion I do. Teams are hot until they aren't. Then they slump until they start winning again. The last time the Brewers had a horrible stretch, they immediately went on to win 9 of 10. Other than the impact personnel changes have on a team, you aren't really going to see any kind of streaks that can't be explained by random chance. It would be more surprising if teams didn't have some bunching of wins and loses over a 162 game season. This is yet another one of the many reasons why Powell is just great. He was right on, he was referencing the "low point" of the no-hitter, and how after it the team got hot again. He said that while there were some in the clubhouse who said that they felt the team had momentum, that Powell himself believes (as do I) that momentum only takes you as far as the next day's starting pitcher - and that the last thing a hitter or pitcher is thinking about is what happened last night. There's just too many other things to think about.
  16. Then I saw his face... http://brewernation.mlblogs.com/photos/uncategorized/ph_460075.jpg now I'm a believer. Not a trace of doubt in my mind. I'm in love, I'm a believer.
  17. Matt Murton - cleaning up? I like him a lot, but it says something about the state of their lineup with him hitting 4th.
  18. He's pretty much cooked, from the looks of it.
  19. That kind of sucked. Too bad for Cappy, he was just rolling.
  20. Spotted Cow is a cream ale. And it's a good beer. Everything New Glarus makes tops any of the BMC beers. That new Dancing Man Wheat? That is flat-out phenomenal. Hometown Blonde is a good pilsner, too.
  21. Yeah, I think it's time to switch that to Joe Dillon or someone else inconsequential.
  22. Briggs is on the money here, yet for some reason Yost can't see that Hardy's OBP is under .300 for about the past three months. He had a big April and early May, and that's been it. For whatever reason, he is considered to the the prototpe #2 hitter, but I don't even know what that means - apparently carry a low OBP (similar to Gwynn being a "true" lead off man, while the only thing he does is run moderately fast). He makes lots and lots of outs, and he should be making them lower in the order - the problem is that there really isn't a high OBP guy on the team outside of Prince or Braun. I would probably put Counsell up there, because he works the count well. If Weeks comes back and starts, he and Hart should bat 1/2, I don't care in what order.
  23. Kinky and the Texas Jewboys is Kinky Friedman's band. He is actually Jewish himself. And since for some reason I got called out for my avatar by you, which was pretty lame if I do say, the picture in mine is a close-up of Woody Guthrie's guitar. I honestly thought that pretty much everyone would know that, but whatever, though.
  24. Dunn would be an awesome addition. They need guys that get on base, in a huge way. Definitely not a waste of money. The Brewers aren't even going to have a chance at him, he was born to play for Theo Epstein, and that's where he's going to be. Andruw Jones is going to be a huge steal for whomever signs him if he experiences a market backlash for a poor first half - he just had a massive July. His defense at this point is pretty overrated, though.
