  1. There is some serious character flaws with this team. This team collapsed in the second half last year and is doing it again now. Dude. The entire team was injured last year in the second half. Unless you define character flaw as "not having enough talent to win games", then it's a character flaw. Otherwise you're basically just being talk radio guy. I love armchair psychoanalysis, though, keep it up. Yost won't be fired and there won't be any drastic changes. I think Mark A. knows what he's doing and he's not going to overreact.
  2. Whos says we're going for a Jay Payton type player? I believe the Cubs are the ones showing interest not us. That's kind of what I mean, though. That moves not going to do the Cubs any good, really, but they're in the mode of "we have to make trades". Then you end up overpaying for marginal players like Jay Payton (or whomever), because nowadays those are the kind of players that are available at the trade deadline. I guess I disagree with the statement that the Brewers won't go any farther with what they have. I think they can and will, plus they also added Linebrink (and though I'm not a huge fan of the move) they have made what they feel is an improvement to a team that has been in 1st for the whole year.
  3. Well, they have to do something. They HAVE to. Just cause. I think I was once told that activity does not equal achievement, and I can't think of anything that that saying applies much better to than baseball trades. Get all the Jay Paytons and other trash players you want, but they aren't going to amount to a hill of beans in terms of actual team performance. The market for good difference making players is non-existent at this point, this is going to be an extremely quiet deadline.
  4. The season isn't over if they go to second place. Man alive, it is July 29th. When I was getting mocked in the chat room in June for saying that the Brewers would still win the division, I said they would get passed in August and then pass the Cubs back a couple weeks later and hold on. I still feel that way. This is a good team that needs a little bit of tweaking, not even transactions, maybe just a re-deployment.
  5. The environment here will improve as the bandwagon jumpers hop onto Packers training camp starting. They picked the right time to slump.
  6. I could have sworn someone told me they had the best bullpen in the league in the Linebrink thread. Villanueva is just worn out. It's not innings, it's that he's never had to appear in so many games and warm up so often.
  7. I'm not sure I'd call loading the bases to get to Chris Duncan great work, but at least they still have the lead.
  8. Why not just have Wise close this bad boy down? EDIT: NM, forgot he pitched last night.
  9. Like I said, this game=yesterday afternoon. How? Just because they had a lead? You're just looking for reasons to not be confident in the team.
  10. Glad the no-no's gone. Now we won't have to deal with people moaning after Ned took him out after 6 with a no-hitter and 110 pitches.
  11. I really enjoy the predictability of Bucksman4... He's much more bold today. He's actually in an IGT for a game they are winning.
  12. Sounds excellent to me. Go get him, Hendry.
  13. I actually had him on a roto team but dropped him about 10 days ago. That looks like a good move now.
  14. Raines was great. Of course, McGwire should be going in as well, but he's being made an example of. This two year gap is going to allow a bunch of guys who don't deserve it to get it - the Dawson/Rice/closers of the world. That's too bad.
  15. He was good last year, too, he had over 100 walks.
  16. I would like him as a bench bat. Look at what he does to LHP's for his career. Too bad he can't play the OF. He probably could play first, though, you would think.
  17. Yeah, I typed it long-form, but then I checked it after I posted and saw the curse filter stopped it, so I took it out. I actually thought it was acceptable as far as the filter goes.
  18. And brettac, what's with all the negativity lately? It seems like this is one of the first posts lately where you didn't get in a jab at Estrada, yet it's still negative. Everything alright man? Nah, everything's fine. I guess I don't think I've been that negative. Heck, ripping Johnny Estrada and Kenny Chesney are old pasttimes of mine. As far as I can tell, I'm still optimistic about the Brewers. Otherwise, I guess I'm not sure where I've been that negative, at least anymore than usual. And Vince Gill can be good, at least he has some talent. I even bought that box set that he released last year.
  19. Exactly. How can you have a soaring high without a crushing low? It's like, how can you have a happy song without sad songs? To fully appreciate each emotion you have to experience both.
  20. The "whatever reason" is that pitchers know they don't need to throw him a strike because he swings at everything. Phillips has some similar issues, but he has a good deal more speed, so he gets some more basehits.
  21. I thought about him, too, but I'm not sure where he fits.
