  1. Ugh. Please don't try the manufacuring runs crap. I'm in no mood tonnight.
  2. I'm reading SoSH right now, and someone posted a Fox Sports story that said that the deal fell through because of an unspecified issue with a player from the third team (which Olney apparently says is the Brewers). The Sox have to give him a playing time guarantee to get him to waive his no-trade, which means maybe an OF moves to another team.
  3. Maybe he'll pull a groin when hastily changing uniforms. He's due.
  4. According to Fox Sports Radio. I'll add a link when one pops up.
  5. As an avid A's fan, I remember his awesome 2003: .172/.261/.253, 4 HR, 25 BB/42 K in 221 AB's. Brutal.
  6. So we have an average closer now and with all the close games we play we really need an elite one. How many are really elite, though? Hoffman, Rivera, Putz, Paps, and Wagner, probably Nathan? Surely you're not implying that Ryan Dempster is - dude blew 9 last year. The fact that Dempster has only blown a couple is probably a good sign for the Brewers, because he'll probably have his week or two stretch where he can't buy an out soon. Even Putz blew 7 last year. For the most part, closers are a dime a dozen. Cordero is better than that and a step below those great 5 or 6.
  7. Well, I think Schuerholz is pretty incomparable, just based on the amazing run that his team has had for 15+ years, plus his run in KC. I have been saying for a few years now that I envision Melvin/Yost to have run of longevity along the same lines as Schuerholz/Cox has had, though. If the player development/roster management blueprint they are following is Twins/A's, I think the front office and managerial blueprint (that being stability) is that of the Braves.
  8. I can't understand blaming the offense, and claiming to know what they "think". They scored 6 runs. 99.9% of the time that is a win, and expecting them to score 10 is just not realistic.
  9. I'm pretty much having a blast with this. It's a good time.
  10. He has given up some game winning hits to some very marginal hitters and no closer should do that. They all do, though. Most times, if a guy doesn't have it he doesn't have it. Sometimes Cordero is beatable. Everyone looks for their closer to be Gagne circa 2002-2004, and it's just not possible. That was a once in a lifetime thing. All closers blow games, it happens. It's more coincidence that Cordero's bad games have happened to come on the road, I think.
  11. They'll ride it out with Cordero. Heck, a month ago he was hailed at the greatest closer in the league - probably by some of the same people that are now saying he's cooked. jazzytrav has it right, this is a rough stretch and he'll bounce back. They weren't going to re-sign him anyway.
  12. Alright, I'm over the last one. Cappy needs some breaks. They've lost what, the last 11 he's started? The Cardinals have won one game that Reyes has started this season.
  13. Saw this coming back when they simply didn't score when they had chances to blow it open. 6-0 is blown open.
  14. The Decemberists
  15. (Cosell voice) Look.. at... the... little... midget... go!
  16. Linebrink's not going to take away Bow's innings, and that makes me relieved. Hopefully he can take Villanueva's, though.
  17. Watching Thompson try to hit Braun four times and failing was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Oh, Tony, you're so old school.
  18. So is there going to be an article on SI.com about how the Cubs are sitting in the clubhouse watching the Brewers annihilate the Cardinals?
  19. Yeah, he's a naturally funny guy, I think, but he tries too hard to be the stereotype studio analyst instead of just acting naturally.
  20. Oh, yeah, Keith Urban and that great Australian country music. Give me a break. Keith Urban, Toby Keith, and Kenny Chesney are country bashers, judging by the way they make the music they do and pass it off as country. It's adult contemporary or something.
  21. Lady Luck hasn't just kissed the Brewers. They're making out with her.
  22. Gross could definitely be a contributor, I wouldn't mind him getting a few more starts, especially if he gets a roll going with some consistent AB's in Nashville.
  23. If I remember right, they had a game or two on there earlier this year, maybe one in Texas. I think it's where they put games that weren't originally scheduled to be on FSN.
