  1. I'm not overly worried to this point, because sometimes that happens with the WMLW games. But it might not be a horrible idea to get that DirecTV phone number handy. EDIT: Try channel 658 instead.
  2. These games should be in DirecTV, correct? It's not showing up in the program guide this point. Anyone have confirmation?
  3. Well, I suppose the police are the ones that called and alerted the media. Where's their liability?
  4. Yeah, having a high OBP isn't small ball, or smart ball, or long ball. It's just successful ball. Unfortunately, for me, that's the issue that has dogged this team since it was constructed. They are in serious need of an OBP infusion somewhere in the lineup, be it a move for a LF or 2B, or playing Estrada a little less and Miller a little more (even though he's far from an OBP machine, he has consistently had an OBP of about 70 points higher than his AVG every year). Every little bit and every baserunner helps, they need to start thinking about maximizing run scoring chances every way they can - i.e. moving Hardy down the order.
  5. They're saying the guy who was leading police on the chase may likely face charges in the deaths of those on the choppers. That's silly. Because of a sensationalist media covering something as meaningless as a traffic chase, with helicopters no less, that guy gets slapped with the liability in this case? That's awful.
  6. The Brewers lead the division in sacrifices, and are among the NL leaders in that category. Do you know where the count stands when pitchers are removed? It's got to be less than 10.
  7. Small ball is a self-defeating tactic, though. If you play for one run, that's all you're going to get. I can understand wanting to maybe do some of that stuff when it's late and the tying/go-ahead run is on base with a poor hitter up, but any other time and they're shooting themselves in the foot. If you look at small-ball, look how much work it takes to scratch out a run. You need perfect execution, and that's hard to pull off. I'd much rather just see them get a guy on (this is really the issue) and swing for two runs. The Brewers have gotten this far in part because they hit so many bombs. It's what they're built to do. There aren't many guys on the team that should have to bunt - they're not going to ask Fielder, Braun, Hart, Hardy, Jenkins, Mench, or Hall to bunt, ever, and probably not Estrada, either.
  8. Excellent. Seems like the Cubs never blow a game and the Brewers blow them all the time.
  9. Linebrink dons a Brewers uni for the first time, and voila - 12 runs. No coincidence.
  10. Speaking from expierence: Just let it be. If it is meant to happen it will happen. If not ,you will probally fall madly in love in someone else. While this may be true to an extent, it's impossible to see the forest for the trees when you are staring at what appears to you to be the most phenomenal tree that has ever grown. Holy convoluted metaphor. I guess my point is there's nothing anyone can tell him that will surely hold true or apply to his situation.
  11. This is a blow to the folks in the comments section of On the DL who say "Seth McClung" any time a blind item involves an AL East player. Basically, McClung is bad. Very bad.
  12. Duncan is awesome and this is his second year. Why would a bad team trade a good, cheap player? That'd be like the Brewers trading Jenkins in like '97. It makes no sense. Add in the nepotism like Brian mentioned, and there's zero chance. On a side note, Chris Duncan has the most power I have ever seen in person. More than Adam Dunn, more than Sexson, and more than a whole lot of others. The dude can mash - he's a star in waiting.
  13. And check what Burrell's done in the last month or so - he's been a big part of this surge they're going on. Now that they've lost Utley, I really can't see them dealing a guy who could potentially be a great offensive producer for them for the rest of the year.
  14. That's a heck of a lot to get for Balfour. EDIT: And yes, I know he's been awful this year (and the two previous in limited innings) in the bigs.
  15. I didn't realize how big of a Mike Maroth fan I was until tonight.
  16. Ken Burns is on WTMJ right now talking about some new WWII documentary he's making showing the war from the "bottom up" in a quintessentially American fashion. This is going to be an amazing documentary, you can pretty much take Ken Burns to the bank.
  17. Not to mention that they could deal one or two starting pitchers this offseason for decent to good prospects.
  18. I'd think Detroit, they need serious bullpen help.
  19. An even better album that no one has heard of than Forever Changes is Odessey and Oracle by the Zombies. Hey, if we're going to throw love to late '60's experimental/psychedelic pop albums that never became popular (and were genius), how about Moby Grape's first?
  20. One of the most underrated bands of that time, for sure. "Forever Changes" is especially genius.
  21. Brett do you have the Love Story two disc set? No, I have the S/T album and "Forever Changes".
  22. Jack Cust - I think I actually drove the bandwagon a couple years ago. It was a lonely road. Nick Swisher Kevin Youkilis Alex Rodriguez Adam Dunn Russell Branyan Kelvim Escobar Troy Tulowitzki Travis Hafner Todd Helton
  23. Mine turned out pretty sweet, I don't think I'm embarassed by any of them. Love - "The Red Telephone" Bob Dylan - "Love Minus Zero/No Limit" (from Bootleg Series 5) Ween - "Baby B" The Kinks - "Village Green" Iron & Wine - "Sea and the Rhythm" Sufjan Stevens - "Vito's Ordination Song" Bright Eyes - "Going For the Gold" Rage Against the Machine - "Wake Up" Whiskeytown - "Houses on the Hill" Bjork - "Innocence" Merle Haggard - "I Take a Lot of Pride in What I Am" The National - "Squalor Victoria" (live) Allman Brothers Band - "Hot 'Lanta" (Fillmore East) Merle Haggard - "Sing a Sad Song" Elvis Costello - "Accidents Will Happen" Feist - "Still True" Jens Lekman - "I'm Looking For a Girl" The Rapture - "The Coming of Spring" The Velvet Underground - "I Heard Her Call My Name" (Live) The Band - "Arcadian Driftwood" (Last Waltz)
  24. I'd say to ignore Facebook - clicking on her and seeing "In a relationship" or "Married" would be a killer. Give her a call and see what's up.
