  1. Who is the poster on here that dispises Estrada? Is that brett? Well whoever it is they better not read that article.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I read it, and he's dead on. Players aren't worried nearly as much as the fans, nor should they be. It may be the first and last time I ever compliment Estrada, but a lot of us have been saying the same thing.

  3. Juan Encarnacion is just a pretty bad baseball player. Always has been, and always will be.
  4. I guess a question for the OP (or whomever) - if the Brewers lack fire, which team(s) are the fiery ones?
  5. That probably makes too much sense for it to happen. Besides, I don't see the Phils trading Rowand, since they're pretty much right in the thick of it, too.
  6. They're professional baseball players, and as far as I'm concerned, kicking coolers and breaking bats is a pretty unprofessional move that makes you look ridiculous. I mean, I remember one time when I struck out in a game, I slammed by bat on the ground and made a mini-scene. About 10 minutes later, I felt like a total dumbass.
  7. That's a pretty major blow. They're just getting ready to start making serious noise once Myers comes back. Now, they lose the guy who has probably been the best player in the NL this year. Burrell's been absolutely on fire lately, so maybe it won't crush them initially. Not to mention, this also creates another player in the market for a second baseman just in case the Brewers were thinking about making a move for a rental.
  8. Johnny Estrada Scott Podsednik David Eckstein Darin Erstad Derek Jeter
  9. He has yet to lead us wrong. Jeff Suppan Johnny Estrada Very, very wrong. It's amazing that to this point, the Brewers two big offseason pickups have been terrible, yet they are in first place. There were very few of us saying to stand pat with what they had and they could win the division, but I think that was correct. They would have won the division last year had they stayed healthy, even with the Lee trade.
  10. We have a chance now I didn't realize that, even though they had the best record in the NL, that up until they acquired Scott Linebrink (...pause for dramatic effect to let that one settle in...) the Brewers had no chance. That's a revelation.
  11. 1. Size 2. Velocity 3. No past injury The fact that you can name those couple short RHP's so quickly is an exception that proves the rule.
  12. Inman was complete trash in AA, I'd rather have a sure thing top of the line reliever than Inman. Great. But how are they going to get a top of the line reliever for Inman when they already traded Inman? I'm all for the draft picks and everything, and I understand the financial impact of a playoff appearance. What I'm not in agreement with is that Linebrink makes a playoff appearance much more likely. To me, he doesn't.
  13. I'm not trying to make excuses for her, I don't follow gossip rags, and I don't honestly care what happens to her... But, she needs legitimate rehab, not Hollywood day spa rehab. She doesn't need to be thrown in jail and be mocked. But, you know which one of those is going to happen. She's in a tough spot, she obviously screwed up, but just up and leaving Hollywood (which I'm sure a lot of people are saying she should do) is a lot easier said than done when you are the breadwinner for a lot of people (family, friends, etc.) and obviously she likes attention. And I agree that Tina Fey is pretty lame. I've never seen Mean Girls, but she was pretty bad on SNL. I do think she's oddly hot, but that's all.
  14. Nate Silver is right, right on.
  15. Jeff Suppan is a big reason why I don't put 100% faith in Doug Melvin anymore. A couple years ago, I would have been spinning the Linebrink trade as a great deal, but the last few moves (namely the Davis trade and the Suppan signing) have caused me to cease the drinking of the Kool-Aid.
  16. 2008 closer is named Coco Cordero. How are they going to pull that one off? The fact that they traded Inman makes me seriously think they are going to do the absolute best they can to extend Sheets. Cordero's gone, and I think Turnbow can step in there fine.
  17. Barrett's very good. He's having a down year, but the past few years there weren't many catchers in the NL as good as him. I'd much rather have him than Estrada.
  18. The Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, and many other teams have been hot after Linebrink for years now. He has a few bad outings and suddenly we think we can or should get him on the cheap? It's more than a few bad outings - he's been pretty mediocre all season. His K rate is down dramatically, his walks are up a tiny bit, and his HR are way up. He's missing fewer bats and getting hit hard. That's why the Padres pulled him from setting up and traded him immediately.
  19. Look at it this way, the Brewers now have a case closed, hands down best bullpen in baseball...PERIOD! I don't think that's the case. The Padres do. People are vastly overrating Linebrink here, like someone else said - he's the 5th most effective reliever the Brewers have.
  20. Overall the prevailing sense is that AA players are more important than doing what it atkes to stabilize the big club that has a realistic chance of making the playoffs. The question is whether the player they acquired actually "stabilized" the Brewers. I'm absolutely fine with trading prospects for good players, it's part of the deal. But Linebrink wasn't doing a hell of a lot of stabilizing since San Diego just decided to demote him from setting up a few days ago. He isn't a shoo-in to make this team markedly better. The bullpen was already pretty solid.
  21. On the sunny side of things, Linebrink is an elite reliever and should give the Brewers some value for a few more years, even if you believe that he's reached his peak. He's not so elite... His numbers aren't very good this year when you dig a little.
  22. I would expect Gross back after this weekend. In the big picture, it doesn't hurt him to go down to AAA and play for a week and a half.
  23. If you mean Jenks we are in trouble. This team is in a pennant race he doesn't get hot till the team is out of it. The team has never been "in it" until this year. This is just anti-Jenkins vitriol, which you do fairly often. Stop fudding.
