    I finally figured out why Mat Gamel won't be called up. He either needs to develop down into a #6 hitter or he needs to learn another position.

    It doesn't bother me as much that Counsell is starting, it just cracks me up that Counsell's place in the batting order is completely determined by what position he is playing...2B = leadoff, SS = 2 hole and at 3B = Counsell instantly becomes a power hitter and protects Hart from the 6 spot. Brilliant.

    If the Muscle had been in the dugout, there is no doubt this wouldn't have happened. The soothing nature of his cologne would have probably had Prince and Manny holding hands as they skipped through the dugout ending in a gentle, yet manly embrace.

    Am I really the only one who doesn't care what any manager or coach says to the media. Normally I would agree Russ, but I think Ned crossed the line with his comments last night. His attacking the reporter for asking the question and then this whole stay out of your neighbors business stuff was horrible. If my neighbor does that to his wife or kids, you're darn right it's my business and I'm calling the police...same if it happens in the office or in someone else's office. Ned's entire baseball machismo attitude is a micrcosm of larger problems with his own personlity and his management style which is often lacking and that effects the team on the field. Therefore, yes Ned as a paying customer...it is my business.

    Emotion hasn't been lacking. Guys slamming bats, throwing at other batters, getting tossed...what they need is to control their emotions and start executing to the best of their abilities. Having better approaches at the plate, not making dumb base running mistakes and not walking crappy hitters with two outs or serving up meatballs to .200 hitters. I know they care, they care a great deal and they work hard as well. They are young and often emotional. They need to set these things aside and just play the game.

    I just watched it again...I loved the reaction of Kendall, it was like he didn't even notice. I'd throw Billy Hall in with JJ & Braun as team leaders.

    I've been complaining forever about all the New York/Boston infatuation of ESPN...then tonight we finally get the lead on SportsCenter. Between that and all this Favre garbage, I need a break. Man does Yost sound like a jerk with this family stuff.

    My take: I'm most disgusted with Yost's comments after the game. It's ok to say it's a clubhouse matter and "no comment", but to pull out this bogus La Russa-esque "don't question the family" stuff. Uncalled for...truly one of Ned's most grating qualities. Prince needs to control himself. What he did was unacceptable and frankly, he has been part of this team's struggles. However, this thread has seen a lot of Prince bashing. At some point leaders have to call out guys that aren't playing up to their capabilites. Parra was cruising, hits a little adversity and starts walking guys and serving up meatballs. The guy has to keep his focus and make the pitches he is capable of making in those situations. On that pitch to Bruce, his body language looked like he was frustrated and had given up. I don't condone the way Prince handled it at all...but there is a lot at stake for this team to have a letdown like Parra had tonight.
