  1. Whichever team finishes off the Cardinals will have my complete loyalty during this playoff season. Nats, Giants, food poisining, Navy Seals...I'm completely indifferent. Go Nats!!!
  2. That's about where I sit. Should a NYY/STL World Series take place, I might just withdraw from society for a bit. This might be the only way I could ever "root" for the Yankees. Any team that eliminates either and saves the world from having to endure watching will be my new favorite. Plenty of cool ex-Brewers to root for: Prince, JJ, CC (perhaps the only Yankee I've ever rooted for), Gun Show George...
  3. Ahh, the simple pleasure of listening to Bob Uecker...gonna miss that the next 4 months.
  4. True, except that Thatcher actually pitched well in '07 while Linebrink was awful.
  5. C'mon folks...down to the bitter end! Nice hand for Kotsay tonight...must not be any bf.netters in the house tonight ;-) Edited by hawing to add tardy lineups. FRIARS SS Everth Cabrera 2B Logan Forsythe 3B Chase Headley C Yasmani Grandal 1B Yonder Alonso RF Will Venable LF Jesus Guzman CF Cameron Maybin LHP Clayton Richard BREWERS RF Norichika Aoki 2B Rickie Weeks LF Ryan Braun 3B Aramis Ramirez 1B Corey Hart C Jonathan Lucroy CF Carlos Gomez SS Jean Segura RHP Shaun Marcum
  6. I'd bring K Rod back. Relievers are volatile beasts. If he was on another team he'd be exactly the type of guy Melvin would target as a buy low scrap heap candidate. I think Loe is fine in a ROOGY role as well, but I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade. The one guy I'm done with is Parra. I have to believe we could find a better lefty arm out of the bullpen. I realize he's actually been better than most including myself will give him credit for this year, but I'd move on.
  7. Great thread...can't wait for the 2013 optimism thread. Baseball seasons are the best when there is hope. 2013 has plenty of reasons to have it.
  8. Braun should win the MVP...but he won't. He's been the best player in the league, but his stats lead over Posey isn't so overwhelming that the media won't go for the story. It is great that he answered all of the critics the best way he could...by having an even better year than his MVP season. My guess is he battles it out with McCutchen for 2nd/3rd. He's our MVP...that's probably enough for him after this season. He'll be the last player to ever wear the #8 in a Brewers uniform, he'll have a big statue in front of Miller Park and a bronze bust in Cooperstown someday. He may not get his just due this year, but he will over time.
  9. #4 starter seems like a reasonable assumption. A #4 starter at the league minimum is extremely valuable.
  10. Just win out and maybe the same thing happens to the Cards. I'd love a one game playoff in St. Louis with a chance to celebrate on their field. Such a valiant effort by these guys lately...just left no room for error.
  11. Really happy there will be meaningful baseball at Miller Park this weekend. The fans and this team deserve it.
  12. Maybe Randy Wolf was hurt with us all year... http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8429108/baltimore-orioles-place-randy-wolf-60-day-dl-call-bill-hall Kinda funny who will replace him with the O's...maybe they know that Bill Hall can pitch.
  13. Brewers winning...only 1 more road game after this...and only one more Cardinals game vs. AAA teams. Hang in there Brew Crew!!!
  14. He may not be a gold glover, but ARam's D has been a big plus this year. A very pleasant surprise.
  15. If that comes to pass, let's please call the platoon Gofer! if only because Schamez sounds terrible. I hear ya hawing, but my Badgers allegiance makes it tough to root for Gofers, then again rooting for Schamez may be tough during passover.
  16. Oh you Cubbies. Rooting for you feels so wrong...but oh so right!!! The enemy of my enemy is my friend!!!
  17. Just got home and finally saw the replay of the ninth...that was the best Axford has looked all season. He had that nasty slider we haven't seen enough of...way to trust your stuff Ax man. Filth Mode.
  18. It's not often I miss Jason Kendall...but when I do, it's against the Pirates.
  19. At least from here on out, the Brewers and the Cards have the same number of games against the Astros.
