  1. If I had one beef about MP, it's that the concourse isn't wide enough in certain parts. Example: Walking from the 3rd base line towards home plate to the store before the game is a traffic jam. Putting vendors along that row only adds to the issue. That and fans that start talking about the Packers when the Brewers get down a few runs. Other than that it's heaven on earth. As for Caple...who cares. Just ignore the guy. Funny how he thinks Selig stole the bankrupt Pilots who lacked community support at the time, while ignoring the Braves moving despite being successful and well supported by the community. Or how baseball passed over a better organized expansion effort by Selig for "greener pastures" with weaker owners in Seattle and Montreal. If he wants to look at what a true baseball injustice is, he needs a history lesson. I would agree contracting the Twins would have been sad, but that was driven by an owner that wanted out and a community with a history of not subsidizing the team unlike other cities (not that they were necessarily wrong), not Bud. There were better candidates to contract at the time IMO and baseball would have been better off.
  2. A little late, but here's my ranking. I biased a little more to the parks themselves. Miller Park has a great tailgate atmosphere outside the park, but a few of the actual stadiums I like better. I also like the stadiums without the roof, but I totally get and am glad Milwaukee has the roof...it needs it. It's certainly a cozier stadium than a Safeco or Chase, but let's face it...if the weather was great you'd rather not have it there. I also tend to like the downtown parks. Again, it's just not part of Milwaukee's culture so I get the tailgate/parking lot aspect of MP. It's certainly a unique feature that makes it the best parking lot park atmosphere. Existing Parks Fenway (lives up to the hype, unlike Wrigley) Ballpark at Arlington (my fave of the parking lot parks, although the atmosphere at MP blows it away) AT&T Park - SF Miller Park (yes, it's my favorite place to go but some of the actual stadiums are better...I also have a downtown park bias) Coors Field Jacobs Field Angels Stadium Dodger Stadium Nationals Park Chase Field Wrigley (most overrated and that's not just Cubs hate...it should be a Superfund site) Safeco US Cellular Oakland Defunct Parks (thank goodness they don't play in football stadiums anymore) County Stadium 70s/80s old Yankee Stadium County Stadium 90s (they really let the place fall apart those last years) Shea Stadium Mile High Stadium (almost forgot about that one, before Coors was finished) Jack Murphy Stadium Candlestick Park Metrodome (truly in a league of it's own) From reading the list...looks like PNC needs to be the next stop. Although I'd like to do Petco...so if MLB sees this...please put the Brewers there on a weekend for once!
  3. I'd consider extending Corey because I think he'll take somewhat of a hometown discount. It seems like he likes it here. He's a big family guy. If he starts getting Werth/Ethier numbers in his head, I'd move on as well. Werth was a silly contract and Ethier got extra dough because the Dodgers are desperate to hang on to a face of the franchise. I'd be surprised if someone else paid the silly bucks for Corey, despite him being just as or close to as good as they are. I would agree he's been an underrated piece of the franchise. There are so many holes this team will need to fill, some of which could be addressed by trading Corey. It's funny some have compared Morris to Overbay, that's always how I've pictured Gamel. Paying a fair price for Corey is fine, but if you are the Brewers you can't win without production from guys making less than they are worth. You only get a few $10-15mm bullets so you have to use them wisely. If they can get an attractive contract, great...otherwise move on. Can't blame either side if it comes to that.
  4. Wow...what a gut punch. I was traveling to Canada on business so I was able to catch the ninth on SN (I think). Just in time for the meltdown. Yippee. Still light out here. Relievers go through bad streaks too...it wasn't that long ago that Ax had one of the longest save streaks in MLB history. Referring to him as Axbow or whatever doesn't make sense to me. Although this rough patch sure has come at a bad time. Not really any other options...the whole bullpen has been poor. Maybe the guy that helped him in the minors could come up to Milwaukee for awhile.
  5. I always liked Chuckie Newhouse. Not sure why we gave up on him so cheaply.
  6. With the Brewers luck I'm just hoping Aram didn't tweak something rounding the bases. Hats off to the umps for taking the time to get it right. Replays rock!
  7. He had to beat Greinke's 58 mph'er before he gets traded if he wants to win the pool.
  8. Atta boy George! Hammy must be getting better...that throw had a little more on it vs. when I saw him in LA. Omar...can't get too bitter about a guy my age getting a hit.
  9. Agreed. His arm is also much better than what the reports were after signing him. I like him too, but to be fair...he missed one yesterday when a guy tagged up on him going from 1st to 2nd mainly because he caught it on his heels.
  10. Phew... Uh oh...think we just found out who's going on the DL when Estrada comes back.
  11. Their TV money will be up...many other teams will be up more, much more.
  12. For the life of me I just can not understand why anyone would be advocating replacing Rickie. The guy has had an OPS over 800 4 of the last 5 years. He's an incredible gamer and a leader on the team. He's fought through tough injuries and frankly his replacements are nothing special. Not saying a Green or Gennett aren't MLBers, but they don't project to where Rickie has proven he can play for the last 5 years. Does he look horrible right now...of course. He's putting up a horrendous year. The team is already 5 ft deep, their only chance is to right their pitching and get some guys hot like Hart, ARam and Rickie...guys that have done it before. Why cap your upside unless you are throwing in the towel in June?
  13. Greinke must really feel at home in KC tonight...pitching his butt off for a dead team that can't muster up any offense against a complete scrub. Ahhh, memories Zack...
  14. Ethier with a new deal. Boy did he get hot (and stopped acting like a jerk) at the right time. New owners want to show the community they are committed to winning, so they throw a big money deal at LA's version of Corey Hart. Money to burn... http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8040921/source-andre-ethier-agrees-principle-5-year-85-million-contract-extension-los-angeles-dodgers
