  1. https://p.twimg.com/AvJKYFvCEAA8G_E.jpg:large (Maybe someone can insert the picture directly) Looks like the boys had another theme trip down to KC...the 1980s. It appears many of them remember (or at least identify) with the decade a little differently. Someone did an ID map last year that was fun...maybe we can give it another run. I have to admit John Steinmiller channeling his Dad in some sweet Bucks warmups is my favorite. Did Kosuke tell Aoki about the trip? He's dressed up but Aoki is just wearing a t-shirt. I also ask myself, will the team 30 years from now all dress up in Remetee shirts for a road trip because that is about the only thing I can recall that looks worse than I did during the 80s. Awkward teens + bad style = no chance.
  2. Good lord. For all the complaining we do about the injuries, lineups, managing, Rickie or whoever...this team is struggling because the pitching is nowhere near what it was last year. Starting and relieving. Period.
  3. 6 inches from extras. Maybe if Axford didn't throw so hard or if Barmes had his eyes open.
  4. This one is going to get interesting when they start using some PH'ers...I'm guessing they go with Greinke, Yo, maybe BA & Rock...move on to Uecker...followed by a few of the clubbies, assorted Ushers and grounds crew...finally my personal pick, The Doorman. The good news is not much to complain about with the lineup. It is what it is.
  5. I think who calls a better game is a fairly small marginal factor. They all gameplan together and the pitcher has the final say. I think it's more our pitchers have gotten in a better groove while playing some lesser hitting teams. Maldonado is much better defensively than George and probably Luc. He's significantly better than George with a bad hammy. I'm impressed...my guess is he makes George expendable at some point.
  6. This! Dear Baseball...Since there are no Brewers, I won't be spending any time with you tonight...your loss. You too Fox. GO KINGS!!! EDIT: Ok, I guess this thing is on MLB.TV...still not the same as the big TV in my own home, but I'm a Brewers addict so I'll probably have it on. Still mad at you baseball...although Ueck is really cracking me up with his Cerveceros accent.
  7. I get that you have to start Brad Nelson Jr. for Weeks, but why is he batting 6th? Is it because of the lineup card caligraphy? Oh well...nothing can destroy my mood. The Brewers are on a roll and playing their perennial whipping boy. Let 'em have it.
  8. Since I just witnessed the Crew playing like the 2011 Brewers...I'll play along with the glass half full. One thing for sure, I'm really glad they had this run. Regardless of how it turns out, baseball is fun and people come out when there is hope. The lack of it causes apathy. Even if it's a slim chance, a nice run will get the park full and make for a fun summer. They will be the favorite in just about all of the next 15 games. The starters, especially the control pitchers, seem to be getting in a groove. Fiers had a nice start...if he's for real we could really use Estrada in the bullpen. The back end of the bullpen is in lockdown mode. Some decent rest the last few games should be better for the middle relievers. Parra is pitching well and Veras & Loe seem better. Plush, ARam and Gomez are starting to get it going. Weeks is making some baby steps as well. Aoki has been a nice addition. Freeing up Hart for first...he's got a big hot streak in him at some point. I'm impressed at least defensively with Ransom and Maldonado. Lucroy is not out for the year and may actually be getting some rest to avoid a late season breakdown. There is this guy on our team named Ryan freaking Braun...he's really good at baseball. Few uses for suitcases when staying at home. (assuming everything got home safe last night) My more modest view is while we beat the Dodgers...they really aren't the best team in the NL despite their record. They're really more of an average team, but so is the rest of the NL...so why not our average team? My voice is sore from screaming this week...now it's your turn...GO BREWERS!!!
  9. Late game with a late flight back to Milwaukee. The guy has to rest sometime, he's had some nagging injuries. He'll still come off the bench at some point. Braun off the bench...just like that Florida series last year. Just sayin'
  10. Is this series reminding anyone of the Florida series last year? Sleepwalking team rolls into a place where they usually struggle only to rattle off 4 in a row? Hope it happens tonight. Small crowd last night...game lasted forever so I got home late. Had a great time surrounded by a bunch of cool Dodgers fans. Don't want to give the wrong impression of all of them just because some drunks started mouthing off and tossing an orange slice. I just wish people would get a clue when there are kids around. A young girl next to me got really peeved about it and told an usher. I guess I've seen the same things at the old County Stadium, but still hate to see it. It felt like a cloud had moved over the stadium last night as word of Kemp's injury started to filter around. I was in the bathroom (they have the radio piped in there) when Scully mentioned what happened with the hammy and breaking the bat...there was quite the groan. Ethier is playing out of his mind, but other than that I still wonder how this team won so many games. Their schedule was weak, the pitching has been good and Kemp was rolling...none of those seem completely sustainable, but they still have a good shot at that division given their lead. They are a good team, but certainly not as good as their record. The Brewers seem to be getting some energy back. Solid starts, back half of the bullpen looking good, ARam starting to pitch in, better defense (Ransom & Maldonado look good out there). Hope they can keep it going. I didn't have the kids last night so I actually got to check in on the thread which was fun. Thanks for the updates since I didn't have replay. Sorry to say I can't make it tonight...I have to turn them back over to Brewer Nation...keep it rolling folks! Adios from SoCal.
  11. Mark A walking around pressing the palms...he's the Mayor here tonight. Nice to see him smiling tonight! Ax time!!!
  12. Getting a little salty here towards Braun...couple drunks near me getting on him. Now they're getting on Herrera.
  13. While I was giving Yo a standing O, some guy fired an orange from his beer at me...missed the sleeping baby in front of me by 6 inches...stay classy LA.
  14. Just had a marriage proposal on the kiss cam...she said yes...not sure why...dude had his cap on sideways with a weird haircut. Brewers fan just caught a foul ball...that was cool.
  15. No kids tonight hawing...here with my buddy and his son. My friend is from Sussex's largest suburb, Waukesha...hehe. Would've loved to have my daughter show Mr. Braun her Braun-wear!
  16. I'm at the game! Funny story...I had an extra parking pass for tomorrow nights game so I thought I'd give it to a fellow Brewers fan. I asked 4 or 5 Brewers fans...none were going. Then I saw a guy wearing a Braun jersey and asked him. His friend he was talking to said he could use it. I made him promise he was a Brewers fan. They laughed and said they were. Nice guys. Turns out the guy in the Braun jersey was Ryan's Dad, Joe.
  17. If only we could play the team with the best record in the NL every night! The house was packed tonight. Big crowd for the Dodgers infield (Garvey, Lopes, Russell & Cey) bobblehead and boo Ryan Braun night. Actually nice to see a decent crowd that stuck around until the end at Dodger Stadium...as I mentioned last night, much different atmosphere this year post-McCourt. I figured I'd be there until 2AM with Fiers v. Eovaldi...that will probably happen tomorrow night with Yo v. Kershaw. Both guys commanded well and pounded the zone. Fiers had a couple deep outs that could've been different at MP, but his first 3 hits given up were 2 broken bat jobs and an infield dribbler. Nice outing. Traffic was nuts getting into the stadium, we got there just in time to see Ryan's Homerun! People were nice sitting around us as usual, but I caught a couple comments after the game walking out. I was explaining to my daughter why the crowd was booing and how they felt Kemp should be the MVP. The guy walking next to me couldn't help it and chimed in how Kemp deserved it hands down. I mentioned Braun beat him in OPS and had some huge hits down the stretch, but the dude just glared at me. Have a safe drive home sir and we took a quick turn down the aisle. Another guy smarted off but I just said Go Kings and got a high five. All fairly tame. The boos were a little louder tonight with the bigger crowd and it being Kemp's first game back. A big crowd really egged the guy who threw the ball back to do it. I'm not going to rag on the fans for getting in Braun's grill too much. Were the shoe on the other foot, Kemp would get plenty of grief in Milwaukee. Although I probably wouldn't be afraid walking back to my car wearing a Kemp jersey in Milwaukee. I like Kemp too. He's not only a great player, but a community guy. Anyone that can get Eithier to not be such a jerk can't be that bad, but I'll take Braunie any day of the week! A few balls were pretty well hit to RF in that game, but only one made it over the fence...that was the difference. That's why he's the MVP.
  18. Eovaldi pitched really well last time we saw him, but Greinke at MP was better... http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL201108170.shtml
  19. I'm so glad I didn't know about Lucroy's hand with the suitcase that fell off the grassy knoll or whatever...I'm just glad I made it home safe. This injury train is unreal. I hope Tony Migs has Braun secured in bubble wrap. Had a great time at the park tonight. Got to text with sdcheezhd but was too busy making sure my kids didn't spill ice cream on the people around us to run into him. While the crowds still aren't where they were, there is definitely a better vibe at the game surrounding the Dodgers now that the ownership team is in place and they are winning. I was wondering what the night was going to be like when one of the Dodger vendors started giving a guy in a Braun shirt in front of me the business about the "steroids" as we were walking into the stadium. After that I didn't hear much. He got a fair amount of boos and a few steroid comments. My buddy turned around to one guy who yelled steroids and said, get it right, it was synthetic testosterone. Everyone got a laugh out of that. They had a chant out in left in the first, but nothing worse than Fielder got the last few years out here. Everyone around us couldn't have been nicer. Most Dodgers fans feel like crap that their stadium has gotten a reputation normally reserved for Raiders games and go out of their way to make up for it. Marcum looked good tonight and ARam had quite the game. Weeks even shows some signs of getting better, although that last strikeout was ugly. Kottaras and his noodle arm behind home plate are going to give up a ton of steals. Between KRod and his leg kick and Kottaras, pudgy old Bobby Abreu had one of the slowest steals I've ever seen. The throw from the knees earlier was pretty ugly too. Ax was hitting 100 on the gun at the end, although sdcheezhd and Uecker are skeptical. I'm so desperate for good news, I'm choosing to believe he was hitting it. A win is a win...they keep trying which is great. Will be fun to see Fiers tomorrow night.
  20. The SoCal tribe will be in the house for this evening's game. We've got the whole family going tonight. I'll be there again on Tuesday and Wednesday night too. I have an extra parking pass if anyone is interested for both Tuesday and Thursday night's game. Ping me if you are interested. You'd either need to drop by my seats tonight or swing by my office on the west side of LA tomorrow. Bobblehead night tomorrow should get a good crowd. The Badger alums will be at the game on Wed night...that always makes for a fun night. Gallardo vs. Kershaw should be fun too that evening too. Now I just need to figure out a way to explain to my impressionable young children why they are booing Ryan and what those words mean that the random idiot behind us is yelling...
  21. I just hope they are honest with themselves. It would be great to have the team turn around over the next month and they are in a mediocre division. However, the only reason to hang on to Greinke would be if they believe they have a shot to keep him beyond this year. If that is out the window, which it sure sounds like it is, they need to try and monetize him for the highest value possible. They should be aware of what the bid/ask is on the contract. It's tough with all this TV money floating around. It's helped the Brewers in absolute terms, but not in relative terms. If Zack wants to leave, he'll find a suitor and a much bigger check than the Brewers can offer. Losing Greinke and getting nothing versus getting something can only help next year with both the team and attendance.
