  1. Why teams going nowhere like these two wouldn't want to take what they can get while they can is beyond me...I guess with 2 lame duck GMs not wanting to lose that much with their respective ownership limbos their incentives aren't properly aligned. At least the 'stros pulled the big move with Pence, but the Dodgers have been making poor moves for several years.
  2. I know it's wrong, but I'm still intrigued with Counsell there with the bases juiced.
  3. Nice to miss Norris & Wandy. Those two have been their only chances to win. We may miss Wandy again in the next series too...he usually seems to be a tough matchup for the Crew. Of course, who knows what this team will look like after this weekend.
  4. That was quick. Hope Felipe finds that 2009 stroke. Part of me says he can't be any worse than 0 for 41, but at least Counsell plays a solid D...Felipe better hit enough to make up for his lapses in concentration in the field.
  5. Buccos win, Classies lose. Up a game and a half on both...need all we can get. Have to say this week was the most I've seen the Pirates play in awhile...these aren't the dregs of the division they've been the last decade. They may not win it, but they are legit.
  6. He seemed ok last time he was with the Brewers. He's a good friend of Weeks so maybe that keeps him in check. We've got a pretty decent clubhouse. A bigger issue is it will only add to our defensive problems...he's prone to some lapses in judgment.
  7. CC takes out Vaughn's record...look out Bob Buhl, he's gunning for you.
  8. Expecting a tweet from the Brewers about their lack of errors any minute now...
  9. Glad to get the sac fly, but that's a Grand Slam last year for Casey. Stay hot Yuni...nice. More basepath outs...not so nice.
  10. Nobody congratulates his teammates on a big fly like Billy Hall.
  11. With all these ex-Brewers on the 'stros, it feels like the Brewers (or Sounds) are already playing the Cards.
  12. Just put on my Weeks player T...praying...hoping...grieving...
  13. This trade makes the Cardinals better in 2011. Bullpen has been their issue and with Jackson taking McClellan's spot, they now have 4 legit arms in the pen instead of just one. Gave up plenty of long term value, but if the Brewers are playing for 2011/12...the road just got a little tougher.
  14. If you are going to make a call that a guy "ole'd" him with the tag when he's got him by 4 full steps, you better be damn sure. He even admitted he missed where he got him on the leg before the glove popped up. The catcher certainly could have made it more conclusive, but it was a bad call by an umpire who was right there in the proper position. He blew it. These umps are horrible.
  15. More reasons for machines and replays to replace these tenured clowns. Unbelievably bad call. Imagine fighting for 19 innings to have it come down to that. Wow.
  16. Only bf.net could take a Nyjer Morgan thread and turn it into one about 80's hair bands...we're 3 pages away from Kevin Bacon. Footloose anyone???
  17. Beautiful work by the pen tonight...well played by RR as well. Nice to see. Great call...take that Floppy!
  18. So let me get this right...E-6 can't get 2 feet to his left to get a ball then the meatball makes it 2-0 against a guy on a crappy team who flat out owns us...meanwhile the soon to be fading Buccos are about to take 2 straight on the road against the Hudson & Hanson. Great, just great.
  19. We finally get through the tough part of our schedule and get to feast on the dregs of the division...only to match up with Cy McFlappyglove in our first game at home. With our luck the Astros will trade for Josh Collmenter and we'll get no hit this weekend. We need someone we can handle like Halladay, Carpenter or Cain. (/half blue)
  20. Have to admit, Plush asked for the reception. He couldn't help himself. In between every inning he was jawing last night. Plenty of hecklers and a lot of booing. It only got louder when he responded. There isnt a player out there who would get treated any different at Miller if he was jawing with the locals...and I am a huge fan of Plush. I think that's why RR pulled him last night. He makes the huge clutch hit then gets baited into a bonehead play. There's a fairly balanced article in the paper here today.
  21. Asked my daughter what her favorite part of going to the game last night was...she says, "well, Betancourt got a walk." I was surprised and asked why it wasn't Braun's homer or all the other fun stuff. She says it was rarer...very wise for a 9 year old!
