  1. Great Article Eye Black, thanks for sharing. So in depth and makes me even more excited about him.
  2. I have no problem with your way of thinking. Caution is fine. The suggestion that losing an early game can be a benefit later is worth debating. But the way you frame the argument? My choices are: 1."risk" to win early and 2. long-term injury? Well, then I didn't understand the choices and you are correct. You frame it in such a way (risk to win?) that it is not worth discussing. Same with the poster who suggested another option was pitchers' arms falling off from overuse. I think there is room for more nuance here. If Woodruff or Burnes came out to start the next inning, perhaps their arms would have fallen off. But they also may have been okay. And then they may have batted in the next inning and trashed their shoulder diving back into first base. We will never know. I can see where you are coming from. Thanks for elaborating. You right, there are multiple outcomes for each decision. Also I see your point on losing a game here and there can add up and be the difference in making the playoffs at the end of the year. Also remember, just because CC makes a decision and it goes wrong, it doesn't make the other option automatically right. Woody could have given up a couple runs that next inning too. We never know. I guess that's the beauty of baseball and sports. I think when I read through the posts I started to feel like people were getting angrier than they actually were, with CC. Got defensive, again, because I think he's a great long term fit here. I didn't want to see the frustration with him snowball. I randomly thought of this after reading the last few posts. How much do you think managers factor in positive mental outcomes in their decisions. Hey Woody has been pitching great to start the season, let's take him out on a high note here, and preserve his arm a bit. Win win. Then we can lean on him more down the road and hopefully he's more confident in himself. I guess it can work both ways though, less confidence to go deeper in to games and get out of jams on their own.
  3. SeaBass - Great way of putting it. These are humans, not just stats. When you mix in the human side of things, it's not as cut and dry. I also think that we get so frustrated by certain situations that happen in one game, and we have to remember he's managing these guys for the whole season and for their careers. Underachiever - I can tell you don't like my way of thinking on this situation. Can you elaborate more? You would rather take on some more risk to win an early game vs the potential of injury long term? I think that's what they are trying to manage early in the season.
  4. Wanted to let the dust settle a little in here before posting. I'm a huge Craig Counsell fan and supporter. I know there are going to be times when we get frustrated with our manager. I also think the manager gets way too much of the blame when things are going poorly. If he makes a move and it goes wrong, it's his fault, not the player's. We love to second guess, I get all that. I just want to say that we should be a little more understanding of the situation. I don't think anyone is really calling for him to be fired or anything like that, but it just seems a little harsh. Craig is prefect for this team and for the way Stearns likes to build things. He's creative and flexible and does a good job of rotating player's in and out and in different positions. I know some of you are looking for him to do wild groundbreaking stuff all the time, but that's not always the move. I hope Counsell is here for the long run and I hope most fans see that there probably aren't too many managers out there that would ever be as good of a fit for Milwaukee as he is. As for the people complaining about pitch counts on our two franchise pitchers. I'd rather lose a game and be cautious with them any day. How many teams coming in to this season are talking about 6 man rotations and pulling pitchers early to protect them, coming off a shortened season? All spring training, teams have been talking about easing people in and having pitchers throw fewer innings. And we are going to get mad about pulling a guy an inning early in their 2nd start of the year? The season and their careers are way more important than that game.
  5. Let's keep this thing going! Scoring some runs and pitching really well. Seems like a recipe for success. Already excited for tonight's game!
  6. That was another fun one to watch. Freddy looked really good tonight. That’s exciting! Can’t believe the roster card mistake but is what it is. I too said, can’t blame Rasmussen for not being his best. If Hader can keep that off speed going, look out. That was nasty. Keep the runs coming!
  7. I have no clue on the trivia but I really want to know! And I won't look it up. How about Phillies and Marlins. I'm guessing it can't be someone in our division.
  8. A place to celebrate, a place to vent. I think the Brewer's offense will be the biggest topic on our minds this season. I think what we've seen so far, is what I was kind of predicting. Some frustrating nights of offense, and I'm guessing we'll have long stretches of it. I think our pitching is going to be tough, so we'll be in games. I said this before but get ready for the 3-2 nail biters this season! Should be fun and agonizing all at the same time. Edit: Subject....whoa solved?
  9. Isn’t that kind of the dream? Get some amazing food or menu item named after you?
  10. Don't lose the power assuming you are playing with us again in softball. We need dingerz. Shows up to spring training in the best shape of his life, etc, etc. All this made me laugh! Best shape of his life, renewed love for the game. Going to be a great season!
  11. What a game! What a long game. Couple takeaways. Wong looks like a great addition and loved him at the top of the order. Really had nice at bats. Yelich looks like himself and that’s good. Man I hope Shaw can be close to his old self. Great to see him get off to a good start. Hader was throwing some serious smoke tonight. Cain looks rusty but still put some good at bats together. I think he will be fine after a couple weeks. Only has a few games under his belt this year. We had runners on but didn’t capitalize like we could have. Got a little lucky at the end but then made them pay. Great opener and I’m so glad baseball is back.
  12. Ugh that one burned. Glad we got one but really was hoping for a base hit there! Quite a few pitches there.
  13. Wow that is really crazy. I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so hard! Poetic is very accurate.

    Pizza

Speaking of Milwaukee pizza near hwy 100, my grandma just sent a text the other day and said she's looking forward to me coming to visit (she lives right off 100). She said she will treat me and my family to Balistreri's Pizza! It's a tradition that we always get that when we visit. I think we may have discussed their pizza on the board already but this made me think of it. We always get it from the one on 68th. Now my mouth is watering!
  15. The in game thread is back and it looks glorious! Happy opening day everyone. Got brats in the fridge and ready to throw them on the grill prior to first pitch. Can’t wait!
  16. I remember before the tournament thinking there was a strong possibility two Big Ten teams make the final four. Might even end up with three! Boy was I wrong! Yuck.
  17. Steakhouse sides are the best. Lobster Mac and cheese! I agree, I'm in the boat as many of you, I typically prefer my own steak to a restaurant. There are a few places though, with special cuts, dry aged, etc that exceed expectations. They are expensive, but worth the money in my opinion. The atmosphere, the sides, the desserts, those are all things that are hard to replicate.
  18. Yes I guess the big difference between QBs now and then is that the old way of doing it was to sit rookies for several years to get them ready. Therefore if a team was good at developing them, there was good trade value. Now QBs are ready early, and the way contracts work, they are cheap when they are young. Back then, if you took a QB early you had to pay big bucks, so the value was in the late round developed guys. I was guessing we couldn't get much more than the pick we used on him and my guess was it would be less. The only way I thought it could change was by showing some real talent in the preseason. But his value is less because he'd already be a couple years in to his rookie contract. The more I talk through this, I think if Love does show real signs of being good, we will be moving on from Rodgers sooner than later. So what's the best scenario???? Rodgers plays pretty good, we win the super bowl, we trade him for a bunch of picks, and Love becomes the next long term winning QB in GB. Too much to ask?
  19. My prediction Twins 2-1 @Cubs 2-1 @Cards 1-2 Cubs 2-1 Pirates 3-0 @Padres 1-2 @Cubs 1-2 Marlins 2-1 Dodgers 0-2 14-12
  20. Alright, how do you think the Brewers start off the 2021 season? Twins 3 @Cubs 3 @Cards 3 Cubs 3 Pirates 3 @Padres 3 @Cubs 3 Marlins 3 Dodgers 2 Total 26 games
  21. Cardinals - 91-71 Brewers - 88-74 - make the playoffs Cubs - 82-80 Reds - 79-83 Pirates - 65-97 MVP: Yelich - I think he gets back to being himself and that's the most valuable player on our team. CY Young: Brandon Woodruff - I think he will be a horse this year. I think Burnes has a very good year too, but won't be as consistent as Woody. Breakout: Luis Urias - I think he will be really good all around and we will have a very consistent player at SS. Disappointment: Devin Williams - I hope I'm wrong on this but I'm just worried about him having more shoulder issues. Combine that with a ridiculous year last year and I just don't know if he repeats. I just knocked on wood too! Under the radar player to watch: Omar Narvaez - I think he comes back to being a good offensive catcher this year. Does that count as under the radar? Rookie of the Year - Tim Dillard in the booth! I think he will bring a lot to the booth for the pre and post game shows. I think it will feel more upbeat and modern with some younger blood in there. I hope it goes well! My way out there prediction, he does really well, and when Uecker retires, he takes his spot. One funny baseball player hands off the torch to another. Ok I don't really think that could happen but let's see how he does on tv this year.
  22. Not sure this has been talked about in the thread but I've been thinking about this ever since Love was drafted. Did the Packers draft Love with the thought that if Rodgers keeps playing well, we can develop and trade Love? If Rodgers has another off year, we potentially have our next qb. A win win. People have made so much about this draft pick, and I always thought it might be a great trade chip. We lucked out when this happened with Matt Flynn. It seemed like we have tried to do it at other times as well. Other teams have had success with trading backups. Maybe this is all different because we moved up to get him. Also, the Packers would need him to play well in the preseason for the trade scenario to work out in our favor. So let's say Love has a really good preseason and Rodgers has another great season. What do you think the best move would be? What do you think Love would fetch? What do you think you could get for Rodgers?
  23. I'm going to selflishly bump this post. Offer still stands if someone is willing to work with me (and assuming that this type of an arrangement would work at all?). If it would work to log in to the FoxSports To Go app to watch the games, I would be more than happy to venmo/paypal someone $10 a month to access either a Spectrum/DirecTV UN/PW. I would only use this to watch the Brewers games this season, or until Sinclair and YTTV actually come to an agreement. If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to give me cell # here and we can work out arrangements offline. I am pretty sure spectrum has cracked down on this and makes you log in close to home. Which makes no sense. I’ve been using my parents login for the fox sports go app for the last few years. Mainly for bucks games but will also watch the Twins here and there this year. Hopefully youtubetv gets the regional sports thing going again, but until then, this has worked well. I also was watching Brewers post game shows at times on the app because mlb.tv cuts the broadcast right after the game is finished.
  24. [sarcasm]Yeah, just what WI needed... more alcohol options... [/sarcasm] Small town bars everywhere in WI just said “wait, we couldn’t do to go cups before?”
