  1. Smoking is a whole other endeavor compared to grilling. It's usually an all day event. Nice thing about some smokers like the Green Egg, you can grill or smoke on them. For grilling, I use my gas grill 99% of the time. It's actually not that much harder to throw charcoal in the egg and start it up, but gas is just so quick. I have a little smoke box deal in my gas grill that I throw wood chips in. Gives a some extra flavor to your grilled food. If you think you'd be in to smoking, I'd say go for it, but I'd suggest to still keep your gas grill. Speaking of grilling, I did a reverse sear on a few fillets on the gas grill and my wife made an herb butter that we put on after and let melt for a bit. WOW! That was a game changer, especially for the summer, with the fresh herbs. She grabbed some herbs from the garden, garlic, and a little lemon I think. I don't know how I go back to eating steak without it.
  2. Ya maybe should have put that in the "other sports" thread, but wasn't sure. Man what a tough break for Rahm. I agree, at least it wasn't his potential first win. I think he'll do fine but that must be tough to swallow.
  3. Ok, here we go, time to turn it up a bit. (1) vs Detroit - 1-0 (is what I would have guessed) (4) vs Arizona - 3-1 (3) @ Cincinnati - 1-2 (3) vs Pittsburgh - 2-1 (3) vs Cincinnati - 2-1 (4) @ Colorado - 3-1 (3) @ Arizona - 2-1 (3) vs Colorado - 2-1 (3) vs Chicago - 1-2 17-10 Need a good month here boys!
  4. Ha! Noonan. That is a great call and reference. I don't think they were allowing it, they just rushed the 5 people holding a rope and there was nothing they could do.
  5. How about that win by Phil yesterday. I can't believe he pulled it off. Pretty crazy scene and a fun tournament to watch. Wish it got a little harrier down the stretch but either way it was fun. Not quite as exciting as Tiger's last win at the Masters, but it was up there for me.
  6. Whoa solved? Both the offense and the apostrophe? Or is it no apostrophe. I'm terrible with this type of stuff. But all I really care is that the offense is solved.....hopefully.
  7. I’m in the minority it appears but I really enjoy watching this team. Our pitching makes me super excited. I love watching these guys work. As I stated before, it seemed like we were setting up for these types of games this year. Low scoring one run games. I think the O will be streaky and when they are on, fun to watch. The consistency we are getting out of our starters should keep us from going on horrible losing streaks. There may not be a lot of runs, but to me, these one run games are really intense.
  8. Great win last night. Woody is so tough out there. I hope Burnes doesn’t skip a beat. So where does Garcia’s homer land on the list of longest HRs at Miller Park? When that landed up there I thought, I don’t think I’ve seen a ball up there before.
  9. Dodgers 1-1 @Phillies 2-2 @Marlins 1-2 Cardinals 1-2 Braves 2-1 @Royals 1-1 @Reds 2-1 Padres 1-3 @Nationals 2-1 Tigers 1-0 14-14 Let’s go!!!
  10. Oh no. Seriously? Roku could do that? This would be a major bummer. I just bought two roku TVs! I’m not sure I got the email but I’ll have to go check. Any other information you have on it? I was curious why some apps like MLB weren’t on some smart TVs. Didn’t know there was negotiations going on for things like that.
  11. This has bad series written all over it. Just came off a great road trip vs two tough teams. Then after Miami we have four with the Dodgers. I hope they aren’t overlooking this series!
  12. Really great getting that insurance at the end. Dillard said it well, Lindblom stepped up and had to wear one on Friday so that the rest of the bullpen could be ready for Saturday and Sunday. Great series win. Awesome to have Wong back.
  13. It’s amazing how quickly the Reds went from scoring a ton of runs and being discussed as the darlings of the early season to last place in the NL Central. They’re on a 7-game losing streak and head out west to play the Dodgers starting tomorrow. I kind of think that’s the way the Reds will be this year. Without the pitching, when the offense cools off they will go on some big losing streaks. They’ll get hot again I’m sure and they will score a lot of runs so I don’t see them as an easy team to beat. Just going to be streaky.
  14. I have MLB.tv - is it listed under the games section or somewhere else?
  15. Since the first time I saw him swing I thought, I hope this guy makes the team. It just looks so natural. Now he comes out and has a hot bat! Really like the guy and hope he can keep it up. Just last night I was thinking about him at 1st. Did he say in an interview he was thankful for his last team starting to play him at first base which made him more valuable? Or was that someone else? Either way get this guy in the lineup!
  16. Well I made it to the 5th inning and fell asleep sometime there or early 6th, but a fun one to watch. Woody doing it again! That first at bat in the 1st inning was a tough battle and made for a goofy first inning. He really did a good job settling in after that. Such a wild world we are living in to have starters like this. Really fun to watch.
  17. Lots of great stuff on here, thanks! It's always good hearing different people's perspectives. I'm completely in the camp of multiple sports and not specializing. Especially when your child gets enjoyment from several sports. I'm also trying to limit team sports to one at a time. That seems challenging potentially. Soccer is the big one. I never played myself and there is a spring and fall league. Fall has worked great in the past but he keeps asking me to play flag football. I'm totally fine with that but also want to keep soccer going as long as he's in to it. That's a great sport for kids to just get out and run around and get exercise.
  18. I'm not even sure what I want to discuss exactly but I thought this might be a good resource for advice on navigating youth sports. I have three sons, the oldest is turning 8 this year. He's been playing multiple sports for 3 years or so. Soccer, baseball, golf, basketball. I've noticed things starting to pickup now with competitiveness. Prior I would say it was more about getting them interested and out playing. I also have my middle son, who just turned 5, starting up with baseball and probably soccer and basketball this year. I'm trying to walk the fine line of resisting the ultra competitiveness at such a young age and giving him the ability to play and get better at the sports he likes. He loves playing everything, and will be out side everyday playing one of the sports he likes (football too). Of the parents who went through this in more recent memory, what would your suggestions be? Any advice at all about youth sports would be great! Background - I grew up playing football, basketball and baseball and was really in to sports. Times are different now and with being in a metro area vs medium sized town where I grew up, I don't know how much of my experience is relevant. I guess the Metro part is there is just always more and more that kids can get involved with as opposed to there being somewhat of a limit in small or medium sized towns, if that makes sense.
  19. Thanks to those who tried to help find the channel for me/my parents on spectrum. Didn’t have any luck so listened to Ueck. Great win tonight. Nice to see them get on top right away!
  20. Anyone having issues watching this game in WI. My parents aren’t able to watch tonight on Spectrum. Weird. It’s not on National tv is it?
  21. Devin isn’t right. He’s showing flashes but he’s not there. His confidence is definitely not there. I said this in my season predictions but I’m just worried about his injury. Not pitching much coming in to the season I just smell a shutdown at some point. Hoping it’s something he gets by and is himself down the stretch!
  22. I said to myself, it has to be Pirates fans doing that right?!?!
  23. So good to have baseball back. I almost didn't know what to do with myself yesterday! I agree, I definitely think we need to go in to this series knowing they are going to put up a great fight. I'm hoping for the offense to continue the momentum as of late.
  24. Was it his left quad in spring training?
