  1. Well this guy has been fun to watch so far. I have to think that pitchers will catch up to him soon and he'll go on a slump. Question is can he get out of it or not?
  2. Thanks for all the info Thurston. I would still like to see the special even if we've already moved, so keep me posted. It looks like the move will be end of May or early June. Does anyone have any more information on Hortonville School District? Does it have more of a country/small town feeling to it, or is it similar to Neenah/Appleton? Also, are there certain areas in Neenah/Appleton or the country area to the west, that any of you really like? Areas to target. Any other information or opinions on the area would be greatly appreciated. Like I said, I like to know as much as I can going in to the search.
  3. Myday2001 - Haha! Yep!! It was a recent big game, last few years, and he had an epic meltdown. He was so mad, he was barely talking. They ended up coming back and winning the game, but the swing of emotions he had was so hilarious. I like that he also openly admits to being a homer and getting emotional.
  4. I was going to say something like that too. I can't handle the, these umps/refs are terrible type announcers. I love excitement when the home team does something great. I know we've had a pretty good string of announcers, but I think BA is about as professional as they come and would really be missed by most if he left. Sure, when you listen to someone every day, all summer, you will pick up on things he does that might annoy you. I say have fun with it and appreciate what we have. On a side note, during football season, I love listening to other team's broadcasts because the homerness is unreal! The Bengals color guy cracks me up. Or Paul Allen in MN. His mood swings are hilarious. When he's grumpy he will barely talk. Tremendous. Back to the game, awesome win. I enjoy watching this team with no expectation on wins. I just want to see progress.
  5. Well, it's been awhile since I last checked in. We were almost going to move to a different state completely, but it looks like now, this is going to be the move. Should be confirmed in the coming days. So much to think about and figure out in the coming weeks! Seems like from what I've heard from people on here, and what I've researched, I've got a few leaders in the clubhouse for areas to live. Neenah, Appleton North, and Greenville districts seem like the ones I'm most interested in. Our big question right now is city/subdivision type setting or rural. Both have their benefits. I was curious if anyone knew of a few areas in Appleton/Neenah that are very walkable. By walkable I mean, the ability to walk and get groceries, run errands, get a bite to eat, etc. We live in area like that right now and we really love it. I just don't know if there is an area that would be desirable and offer that type of convenience. Any other input on this area would be great. I'm the type of person that loves to gather as much information as possible, so don't hold anything back! Thanks again for all the help! We are very excited to be back in Wisconsin (ask me that in January next year)!
  6. It was so much more than that. It was a complete break down in fundamentals. A 2B doesn't try to catch the ball on the move like that. You get to the bag and make the the turn. It was an epic failure on the level of Yuni B, or worse. Possibly worse because Yuni B was relatively fundamentally sound, he just had the range of a Grandpa. If Stearns & Counsell are aware that Villar is that fundamentally flawed at 2B then they are just buying time, hoping he figures it out. I get that. I'm just throwing it out there, but I think that was the old way of doing it and now there are situations where you run through the bag, plant and throw, to avoid the base runner. I could be wrong, but I think it's much more situational and not just do the same thing every time. Either way, he rushed it. He seemed to have a lot more time and could have maybe setup, but might not have been there in time because it was hit so hard to short. It happens. This team is a work in progress. We have to take the ups with the downs.
  7. Happy Opening Day!!! Looking forward to seeing what happens. Can't wait for the overreactions I will have after a win (boy we could make the playoffs) or loss (man, gonna be a brutal year, might only win 60 games). Here we go 2017.
  8. The intent of this thread was to get people's opinions on this topic. That's what we are getting. Opinions are good and I think we just need to remember that just because someone's opinion is different than yours, doesn't mean it's wrong. Cool to debate this topic, and others, but don't get upset with people who don't agree with you. Have fun with it. Good talk.
  9. My two best investments have been Anacott Steel and Farrow Tech.
  10. Getting on the record here..... I'm pretty sure I haven't responded yet??? Brewers Record: 75-87 Playoffs: No Brewers MVP: Broxton Brewers CY Young: Davies Brewers ROY: Hader First player traded: Garza Surprise player: Broxton Disappointing player: Arcia World Series: Red Sox
  11. I'm so tired staying up to watch that Xavier game but it was worth it. Come on Badgers, get another win tonight!!!!!
  12. I'm personally not ready to call them elite. As consistent as they come lately and very much a great program, but not elite. I think there need to be championships in there right? I love Wisconsin and love what they are but I don't think I can make that argument to someone who is a Duke, North Carolina, or Kansas fan.
  13. When I used to wear baseball hats more often, I would buy hats based on how I thought they looked. The Brewers have always been my team, and I didn't cheer for another team if I had their hat, it was strictly based on me liking the hat. I don't see anything wrong with that. Of course I'd never wear another NFL team's gear, but I kind of think baseball hats are different. I'm not sure where I fully stand on cheering for other baseball teams. I'm ok with enjoying the success of other teams. For instance, when University of Cincinnati does well, I enjoy seeing that, because I live here. But I don't follow them like I do the Badgers, or stress about their games. I've never been one to have multiple teams that I really care about. Badgers, Brewers, Packers and nothing comes close to those teams. I tried to cheer for the T-Wolves when I lived in MN but my heart was never in it, even though I don't follow the Bucks that much. The Bucks have been the hardest team for me to fully get in to because they've just not been on tv much in places I've lived.
  14. Seniors stepped up and yes, free throws! If the good Badger team shows up, this could be interesting vs Nova.
  15. DHonks - great point on getting conservative close to retirement. I'm of the belief that when you retire, you hopefully have 20, 30, 40 more years to have your money working for you. It's smart to get a little more conservative, but you definitely don't want to put everything in to bonds when you retire.
  16. Kalle8, good to see you around! Go Italy!
  17. Simple way to look at it is if you invest properly in equity based mutual funds/ETFs, you can typically bank on ***7-10% returns over a 10 year period (also assuming this is in your retirement account so you aren't paying taxes on gains). That will fluctuate from year to year, so you need to remember this is long term. Compare that to the interest rate you are paying on your loan. If it's close, it's probably up for debate. If one is quite a bit higher, that will tell you where to put your money. I guess you should also figure in the fact that money that would go towards your loan would be taxed as income. Money going in to your 401k would not get taxed. Added benefit to saving for retirement. You also get to write off your student loan interest amount. I was lucky to consolidate my loans right out of college at an extremely low rate. Rates were super low. I've decided my money is better off invested in retirement as apposed to paying off my loan. Higher interest rate loans/credit cards should always take precedence over the retirement money, in my opinion. Just my two cents. ***I didn't have the time to double check that figure. I used to be in the financial planning industry and I believe that was the figure that was usually thrown around. You could ask a financial planner or probably get that online, but I believe that to be the number roughly when looking at what the market has returned on average.
  18. I've always thought the best way to figure out the stock market a bit is to pick a company or industry you already know something about. Like if you are in to video games. Which company do you think is coming out with content ahead of its time. Take that company and start researching it more. Than compare it to some other companies and figure out which one has the best long term potential. If you already know a lot about the topic, it's much easier to start to figure out which companies might be good stocks to target. I would highly suggest that your first purchase (or couple) should be companies that you want to own longer term. It's much more complicated to go in with the mindset that you are only looking to buy and then sell a week later for a profit. Look for something you can hold for a couple years because you think their long term potential is there. Next bit of advice is don't overreact to news once you own the stock. If you sell every time a bit of bad news comes out, you will lose. If the main reasons you picked the stock in the first place, haven't changed, you should continue to believe in that company. Just my two cents, but I think diving in to something you already enjoy and have some opinion on, can make this very enjoyable.
  19. Totally get that same feeling when I do something manly! Although, what you did probably seems a little too manly for me to tackle!
  20. If you like bloody marys, I recommend getting one at the park. It's been about 4 years since I was there, but the bloody I had there was really good! That's all I got.
  21. That was pretty sweet. Ha! I got some good laughs out of that. Thanks for posting!
  22. Can not believe this! I don't claim to be a huge Bucks fan, but do enjoy seeing them do well. I feel bad for the kid.
  23. I'll just throw this in here. Wow, what a Super Bowl! I thought there was no way possible for the Pats to come back. What an unreal game to watch. I'm sure there are plenty of people that Don't like Brady on here, but seriously, how good is he? I'm glad that I've been able to witness his greatness. Between him and Bill, they really are on a whole different level.
  24. Really fun topic and write up adambr2! I'm not good at this thing, so I'll leave it to the experts. I am hoping that Lara ends up as our third baseman.
  25. Maas Haas - Great use of the movie quote. I use that one all the time! I'm just hoping that Garza can be better than worthless this year. Wish we could get rid of him.
