  1. Excited to have something to watch for next few weeks. Thought it would be good to start a thread to discuss. Can't wait for curling!
  2. Retirement and income is different for every person, so if you feel comfortable with that amount annually, then that's cool. I do think you want to have cushion when possible. Couple thoughts on your plan * As another poster said, you may want to reconsider paying off your house so quickly. For some people, not having a payment is a huge relief, so you can't put a price tag on that. With the lower rate on your insurance compared to what you should get for return on investment, a lot of times you are better off not paying off your house. Also understanding Time Value of Money is important when deciding saving now vs later. * Would you consider getting part time jobs now to save more money, since you are already putting off having kids? That could set you up really nice, working hard now so you can retire early. * Would you consider working part time jobs in early retirement, so you didn't have to touch your retirement money until later, so you don't have penalties? If you could go part time and make enough to live off o,f and not add more to retirement, or take any out, you'd let that money grow even more! Just some thoughts. Future value calculators are really fun to play around with.
  3. Do the other owners live in the building or do they rent like the other guy? I'd go knock on doors.
  4. I believe prediction models would be hard pressed to have a win total much higher than that because of our starting pitching.
  5. Not sure if any of you saw the Counsell interview on Hot Stove but he was talking openly about Braun playing first, and trying to get him comfortable there. I wasn't sure if it was just talk before or if they'd really give it an honest effort. Seems like they will get him the reps there and see what he can do.
  6. Mark me down for the some sort of platoon at first. I think he'd benefit so much from more time off. Maybe that's too much time off, but I'd like to see them keep Braun as fresh as possible for the remainder of his career. I'm still not sure he can play well at first, but would like to see it in spring training.
  7. Well those were our two favorite places when looking for a house, but ended up a bit further out in Hortonville. Greenville has basically become part of Appleton now. Lots of houses being built there! We wanted a little more of a yard so that's what pushed us a little further west.
  8. Wow that is a good saying! I guess I'm a duchshund as well. I think Stearns is taking the known here, for the unknown. Could we end up losing some great players? Yes. But we are getting rewarded with a great player and less risk. I don't claim to be well versed in players the minors, where I can offer strong opinions, but I know I like what we got.
  9. I'm all for this and enjoyed watching the xfl back in the day. Not because of the goofy side stuff, but because there was football on TV when there usually wasn't. I'm curious if they will try to be "different" or if they will legitimately try to produce good football? I think there is some room to chip away at the NFL product right now and maybe become a legitimate "minor league" for them at the same time. We will see! America loves football.
  10. I'm really intrigued by this search. I hope it's something really cool, or a beer league softball team. Milwaukee Chuggers?
  11. Add me to the list of people who are underwhelmed by Klements. I'm all Johnsonville and hope they get the sponsorship. I've probably had Usinger, but not for awhile. I'll need to try them again now that I'm in WI again. I could be totally wrong, but wasn't Johnsonville the sponsor way back in the day and also what they maybe served at the stadium? I didn't realize that Chi stadiums did real brats. That's what we should be doing!
  12. Saw reference to instant Pot in another thread and would love to get some good recipes for the Christmas present my wife and I got from Santa. Seems like it's quite the craze, so thought others might be trying it out and coming up with some good meals. I've used it twice now and have really enjoyed using it. I will be using it again tonight to make chili. I made a beef stew last week that blew my socks off. I'm not a stew guy either. This recipe is more brothy than thick gravy, which I prefer. It also didn't have potatoes in it, which I really liked. I served it over rice. *Full disclosure, I don't measure, so these are guesses on measurements) 2 lb chuck roast (trim fat and cube) - brown on saute in the instant pot (salt and pepper and used butter) remove the meat when you get a good sear. Keep the pot on saute and add liquid and scrape up the bits on the pot 1 cub beef broth 1/2 cup or so of red wine 1/2 cup or so of tomato juice turn off instant pot and add the following 6 carrots chopped in large chunks 3 stalks of celery cut in large chunks 1 medium yellow onion diced Salt and pepper Add the meat and stir and click the "stew" button Once done, turn off and let the pressure release naturally (10 min or so). The recipe, I was loosely going off of, called for tapioca (put in during the cook) to thicken it. Instead, when it was done cooking, I added 1/3 cup of water with a tablespoon of corn starch mixed in it. It thickened it up just enough for me. As I stated, I'm not a stew person, but this was so tender and flavorful. The carrots were maybe a little too mushy, but the meat was so perfect, I was ok with that. Maybe bigger chunks would help. I ate it for dinner the first night and lunch and dinner the following night!
  13. I think if you get in the mix for a job where you are the main person on the radio, it's a bigger market, or you're going to TV, you have to go after it. It's not like Milwaukee is on most people's radar for landing spots. We get a lot of talented people on their way up. Now, I do think at some point, someone could land here long term, but it's got to be because Ueck is about to retire or has retired. You'll always be second fiddle until that time. As for Ueck, I too have a family member who was in the radio/tv industry and he speaks very poorly of him and the way he treats people. I pretend to ignore it, because I love him on the radio, but it's really too bad.
  14. Cool! I'll have to check it out.
  15. So how was the Pho? I have an issue, I'm addicted to the stuff and was already planning on grabbing some today! I always buy two because I know I'll want it the next day too.
  16. Man I’m super excited to find out what is going on. Fingers crossed.
  17. Yes I think so. I might give it a go here. I need to get a punch down tool though. Thanks! I also was able to look up the board that they have and find out some info, so it makes some sense now.
  18. Ok need some help with "punching in" a phone line. I have vonage and I'm trying to hook it in to my home phone board. I wish there was just an "line in" that I could click a standard phone cable in to. The only "line in" I see on the board is one that I need to punch in. So my question is, can I just cut the standard phone line that goes from my vonage and then punch those wires in or do I need something else?
  19. Like other posters said, the two things that came to mind were intern/work for free or ticket sales. Depending on what you are looking to do long term. I think ticket sales is always the way to get your foot in the door and maybe you could offer to do other jobs as well. If you want it more than the people around you, you'll figure out a way. Good luck and keep us posted.
  20. Great news but I'm hesitant to get excited. I worry about shoulder injuries. I'm just waiting for the story that he has a setback and needs to rest it for a few weeks. Seems like it's always a roller coaster.
  21. Interesting on WI! Thanks for the info.
  22. I do think the Under for sure in MN, but I also think that MN is a good bet to cover. I think they are really dangerous. I agree and think NE is going to make a statement in round one, so that game should be a blowout. I'm nervous about that ATL PHI game. I'm not buying in that all the sudden ATL is ready to make a run at the super bowl after being pretty gross all year. That JAX PIT game, I have no clue.
  23. Hopefully it's ok to start a thread about betting on sports! Anyone on here dabble in this trade? One of my favorite times of year to do a couple parlays is during the NFL playoffs. I only do a handful of bets a year, and always small dollar amounts, but it's fun for me. Thought I'd start a thread where we could discuss sporting events that we might try to make more interesting. Anyone have any strong thoughts on the NFL games this week? ATL -2.5 vs PHI TEN +13.5 vs NE JAX +6.5 vs PIT NO +4.5 vs MN
  24. I can't cheer for the Vikes ever! Even if I'm trying not to outwardly be a jerk and cheer against them, inside I'm screaming for joy when they lose big games.
  25. Wow I can't believe this. Would never have guessed they would just release him.
