  1. TheBruce - totally agree. Buying organic anything is prob a smart move. Some meats/veg tend to have a lot more of that going on than others, so it's good to know which ones are best to buy organic (it can be expensive). And couldn't agree more on processed foods. That's not going to be good for anyone. My only counter to the meat thing is that it really does seem, when you look at humans as just another animal in the world, that we weren't made to eat meat. We only adapted to that when we figured out how to use weapons. So I guess, I kind of believe that right now, but again, I don't want to come across like I think this life style is for everyone and that I'm judging people who don't. I'm totally not like that, I just find it to be a pretty compelling story right now, that makes sense for me, and I'm just kind of going with it because I like how I feel (eating less meat that is).
  2. I don't think Braun is a 162 game guy. I think he does need days off because he seems to get a lot of little things that get tweaked at times. That being said, I agree it's early but I do think a super cold night game like last night can be tough on the body. I don't mind giving these guys rest in crappy weather. Really easy to pull a hammy if you are a little fatigued and not able to get loose. Kind of excited to see this lineup actually.
  3. Ha, ya for sure. No way he knows it's on with 7 long sleeve shirts he's wearing. Ya we say two things about Gomez every game. Wow, what a great play and what was he thinking. Love him though!
  4. Ya I don't think anyone is trying to sway people one way or the other, I think it's a pretty good open conversation. Like I said before, I still eat meat, just trying to really cut down on it. I think my biggest reason is all the stuff that is pumped in to animals these days. You aren't just eating meat, you're eating hormones, bacteria, chemicals, etc. As mentioned before, even going from meat as the main part of the meal, to just a part of it, or ingredient in a bigger dish is a great start. Your body just doesn't process meat like it does plant based foods. I do encourage people to try doing meatless mondays. It really does help the enviorenment out and who knows, you might be like me and take it a little bit further and try not to eat meat a few more days a week.
  5. I find him pretty calming, I kind of dig it. Now the only reason it works is because Bob has so much personality. For me, so far, it's working ok. Agreed though, if he was on his own, or with another melow guy, it would not work!
  6. What's OBP? (in blue)
  7. I also think even what the count is can matter quite a bit. If you know you are going to get a certain pitch or the pitcher needs to throw a strike, it greatly increases the success. I think even if you know it's coming it can be a tough play to stop.
  8. Hey guys just wanted to get your thoughts on RRR's use of the squeeze play. I know there was a lot of back and forth on it last year. It obviously worked well tonight but I really tend to like the call unless it's one of your top hitters. I asked this last year but does anyone have any success statistics between a squeeze and swinging away? I'm guessing it's like sex panther, 60% of the time, it works all the time.
  9. Man, I'm really excited to see how we look today. Nothing better than an opening day win, and nothing more crushing than an opening day loss. Let's get the win and start the talk of 162-0.

  11. I guess I don't use a certain site, just do searches for recipes. I usually will type in something like "vegan, eggplant" and just see what comes up. I really enjoy cooking so I tend to like to experiment when possible. My wife really enjoys the book Skinny B**ch (not sure if I can put that on here). I bought her the cookbook as well and we use that. Their writing is right to the point and with no filtering. It's pretty funny, but it also really makes you think about the impact on your body and the world when eating meat. I think my best advice when eating fruit and vegetables is buy what's fresh and in season. When they are fresh and good, you don't really need to do much to them to make them taste good. Also if you can grow them, buy from a farmer's market, or even right from a farmer, you are going to get the best tasting produce. Again, this is something that I'm in the middle of trying to change and will take time to adjust to. I do have to say though, that even cutting meat out a few days a week, or heck, even one day, makes such a difference. Both for how you feel and for the world. I'm kind of laughing at myself as I type this because I never thought I would!
  12. Wow, that's awesome! Congrats Raw Biz! I haven't gone through this whole thread but just saw it for the first time. My wife and I have watched a handful of documentaries lately on netflix. You want motivation, check it out (Forks over Knives, Fat Sick and Nearly Dead, Ingredients, Food Inc..... to name a few). Anyway, it has pushed us in to trying to live a healthier life style. We both would like to loose about 5-10 lbs but it's more for our overall health. We both were big meat eaters but have really tried to cut out meat as much as possible. I'm not sure if I'd ever be able to cut it all out, but even going from meat being the main part of a meal, to just having a little meat in a dish, is a huge difference. I also encourage people to just try doing meatless mondays. Not sure if you've heard of it, but if you can cut out meat on just one day a week, it makes a huge difference for the enviornment. It's kind of amazing how your body feels when you don't eat so much meat or processed foods. Sorry for preaching! And just so you know, I myself would have laughed if someone told me I would be eating this way a few years ago.
  13. I have not had a chance to listen to the local media down here in cinci but am really curious what they think. I just really can't see a scenario where this works well for them.
  14. ZG saying he likes it here is probably not just player speak. He says what's on his mind. I think we have a shot but agree it is a small window here. If we do t get it done soon it will be really tough. I think Zach knows that he probably wouldn't enjoy a huge market and so that takes some of the huge spenders off the table. I really believe he will look to get a deal done here soon and they will just try to get as much out of Milwaukee as they can. If we put a respectable offer out there I really think he takes it. If we don't, he gets to try the open market. I just really have to believe there aren't too many options out there that fit what he would need. Small market, competitive, let's him do his thing, and can afford him. I guess we will see. I have my fingers crossed.
  15. Haha, that is a good one! Very true.
  16. Cool man. Keep me posted. Sounds pretty cool. I love the hybrid draft, never heard of that before. Kind of the best of both worlds.
  17. On a side note, not looking to start this year probably, just want to follow it a little closer this year and try to get in to one next year (or if a league needs a guy to step in later on this year).
  18. Ok, so I must admidt I have never played fantasy baseball, just football. I have been playing that for a long time and I'm in a 16 team league. It really makes it a lot of fun and a big challenge. So my question is, are any of you in any hardcore baseball leagues? I'm really interested in getting in to a dynasty/salary cap type league. I don't want to play just a basic league for fear it will be too similar to FF. If I start I want to go all in. So I'm curious if any of you are in those type of leagues. Also, where could I go to find a league like this? I don't want to play with strangers on Yahoo because I don't want people quitting half way through or cheating. Any help here would be great, thanks.
  19. Excellent! I also was thinking 2012....... Crazy! But I'm sure it's just some crap that kids, govt, or big business is doing that they don't want to admit to.
  20. Thaingster - he's keeping it R Kelly style! Good stuff guys. Ya I was thinking about it more today and really did think this team has great chemistry. They just seem like they get a long so well and can have such a good time. How about when they were making fun of braun's hair!!!?? That was hilarious!
  21. I'm starting to like the idea of Gamel hitting 5th. I think Gamel is going to hit well this year and having him 5th would be awesome. Might have to only be against RHP but could be a really nice bat to follow Ramirez.
  22. So what did you guys think? Had a few good laughs and thought a lot of it was done well. I got a good laugh when Narvy said, George is doing bi's and tri's and yelled, he flex for us! That was good. Hart had a few good lines too. Good stuff.
