  1. People are still judging Gerut on his 20 AB sample as a Brewer for some reason, I have no idea why so many people think he is horrible.
  2. The time to start platooning Hart was last July. He cannot hit any RHP who doesn't rely on a curve ball.
  3. Cameron tends to wear down every year so I think a couple days off won't really hurt so I guess it doesn't matter to me if it is 2 days or 1 day.
  4. They haven't looked at Parra's stats this season have they http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif. The Reds didn't draft Bruce? Nice to see 3 of the NL Central teams in the bottom 6 of that list, heh.
  5. He has certainly been way better than average in a corner OF role so far this season. He makes Hart look like a pile of puke not that Hart needs any help looking like that with his pathetic plate approach and poor throwing arm.
  6. McCutchen will be a good ballplayer but he won't be anything special imo, his upside offensively is Reyes with fewer SB probably and Reyes has not been elite offensively for his career
  7. I think McCutchen will ultimately be a mediocre player but he'll get a lot of press and I still think he wins ROY though I doubt he is ever a significant improvement over McLouth.
  8. Good hitters walk so I guess I disagree with this. I don't go to watch some hacker who swings at the first pitch and doesn't know how to work a count but just makes contact a lot, if I wanted to see that I'd go back in time and watch old time baseball~.
  9. I'd be absolutely shocked if he pulled Parra from the rotation after today's start. I could have seen it after the last one but this time Parra threw the ball pretty well.
  10. I would rather the game comes down to Hall vs a LH than Counsell vs a LH. I have never said otherwise. Hall shouldn't face a RHP in a key situation, LHP I'm fine.
  11. But it doesn't increase our chances even with Kendall. They have studied this to death. If you want to complain about Macha there was a much bigger blunder he made that you guys could complain about. In the bottom of the 8th he brought in Bill Hall as a defensive substitution and brought in Villanueva to pitch. They have a LH closer. Why on earth did he not double switch and have Hall leading off the inning instead of having to burn McGehee there considering we had mostly lefties coming up. Here is a quote from th bunting post on this site, you can find the link to the study at this link... http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=10845 Now the odds of winning a game on the road are lower than on home so playing for the tie on the road is a losing strategy so Kendall clearly passes the 2+ run stats and even if you would prefer to play for the 1 he is better than the playing for 1 stats. If you want to give him an extra knock for his groundball tendencies then it might become a marginal play to have him bunt but it clearly is not a no brainer. He gets on more often than he hits into a double play and a successful bunt doesn't really increase our odds of winning the game because the out you lose is just as important as the base you gain.
  12. If we have to lose a game like this I'm glad it was against the Braves. They aren't in the division, they are a team I don't hate, I don't think they will compete for the wild card though they'll be over .500.
  13. Mike Marshall won the CY and was 3rd in MVP voting in 1974 with this line. 106 games(none started). 15-12, 21 saves, 208.1 IP, 2.42 ERA. Don't see RP like that anymore http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.
  14. Even then it is a marginal play, with a real hitter is a terrible play. Kendall has better odds of getting on base than hitting into a double play. Bunting with Kendall doesn't really increase our chances of scoring. It takes a bad hitting pitcher type of stats to actually make bunting a sure thing. I don't think it is a terrible choice, it just isn't a 'no brainer' either.
  15. Cattalanotto can't hit lefties. This is probably the only game we've been in all year where the left handed bench hurt us, though to be fair if he had saved Hall it wouldn't have been an issue, that is the downside of the defensive replacement.
  16. The questioning CV is just that he has been overworked a bit lately and looked flat but we didn't exactly have a lot of reliable arms to use in his place.
  17. Bunting is a marginal play at best so do we really have to argue about it again? It might be right, it might be wrong but the difference between the two is something like 2-3% chance of winning the game so it just isn't worth it.
  18. Given his lack of control not sure a bunt is a good idea but Kendall likes to ground in double plays too so it wouldn't have bothered me.
  19. Nothing about Counsell vs a lefty gives me confidence.
  20. Their closer is a lefty so we'll see McGehee and/or Rivera and then Kendall.
  21. Sweeping them on the road as well, Rockies generally play terrible on the road.
  22. I am much more afraid of the Cubs than the Reds though, especially with Volquez and Votto having so many problems. Same thing as last year in the Cubs vs Cardinals games, I was always more concerned with the Cubs than the Cardinals because they were the better team. Plus the Cubs are just more annoying than the Reds~.
  23. In other news, the Reds and Rockies both just tied up their games against the Cubs and Cardinals. This could be another good day http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.
  24. I agree that walking a batter is a bad thing and walking a lefty is even worse, don't have a big issue with that comment. I'm just trying to establish that the results aren't what defines a good or bad outing. A season is too random to get a good judge of talent from just the results, over a single start the results are just not going to tell you the story. This start by Parra was one of his better on the season, even if the result was 5 ER. His control was much better, he was using fewer pitches per at bats and other than Jones they weren't making very good contact overall.
