  1. I think Hall is a good 3B but that is an error not a hit.
  2. Sadly I think that is the hardest hit ball I've seen from Braun this season.
  3. The sad thing is when we miss the playoffs by 2-4 games this year we can point to this rotten first 8 games as a huge reason why it happened.
  4. Kendall better find his mechanics again becuase without the good CS he just isn't that useful of a player. He is throwing hard enough still but everything is sailing high on him.
  5. Yeah it really does feel like they are cursed. Every night they do just enough to lose but are in every game the entire night and just can't catch a break. That last Cubs game says it all, their starting RF gets hurt and the backup pulls back a grand slam that the other guy would have never caught and we lose. Even something that should be positive costs us in the long run.
  6. I like that he countered with Weeks here. Yost never seemed willing to waste a hitter like that but to me leaving in a bad matchup is wasting an opportunity.
  7. Not surprised that Weeks is out. It is obviously a small sample but so far this year the Reds have a .596 OPS against LH pitchers. We haven't had an easy win yet, tonight would be a good night for it. Tomorrow would be good too since I'll be at the game!
  8. It would be really easy to skip Suppan once and turn him into the 5th starter, there isn't much point to it. Gallardo and Parra will struggle to go 200 IP this year so you don't want them making extra starts, Looper isn't 100% healthy yet. This just isn't a setup where we should be skipping starts unless it is Gallardo or Parra to keep their arms fresh. SO far Macha has been ok, he has made some odd bullpen choices but it could just be trying to learn the players and decide what they can and cannot do.
  9. If this team ends up under .500 they either had injuries, had a lot of bad breaks or didn't play to their talent. It is a low to mid 80 win team on paper. With that comment I will leave this thread since it just gets me into trouble. People don't want intelligent discussion in a vent thread(that is sort of the entire point of the thing afterall), they just want to be negative and exaggerate how bad things are and that isn't what I'm about.
  10. Oh sorry, I thought you meant this thread as in the vent thread(of which I had the only post!), didn't notice you had linked to another one. Yeah I guess I can see your point on the other one, even if I think his point is valid that it is too early to be making changes. For a real vent how about, can we please stop walking so many crappy hitters. I can live with a few extra walks against good hitters early because the pitchers don't have good command yet, but you can't be walking the crappy guys.
  11. If you meant my post as mockery I think you missed my point. I honestly won't wear that shirt until they turn things around and by then it will probably be nice out and I'll be in short sleeves. I was dead serious~.
  12. My biggest vent so far is that my wife found a nice long sleeve Brewer shirt in my size that didn't cost a ton of cash (this is much more rare than you'd expect!). I have now worn it 3 times and they lost all 3 games so I can't see myself wearing it again until the end of the season. Perfectly good shirt ruined already.
  13. Kendall is just a weird player in general. Just look at his season last year. 3 months of .600 or lower OPS, 3 months of .700+. Each month was driven completely by BABIP. In the months with a low BABIP he is completely 100% useless at the plate.
  14. If there is one thing I've learned in my many years of fantasy baseball it is that April is the goofiest month. I put very little stock in stats built in April because hitters are behind pitchers in general, especially power hitters but a lot of pitchers including some really good ones have not found their control yet. This leads to a lot of bad outings by good pitchers and a lot of good outings by mediocre hitters. When a player carries his success or struggles into the middle of May then I start to pay more attention.
  15. If you change the qualifier to just 140 IP you find 7 pitchers worse than him in ERA and 5 more that were over 4.75 but under his 4.96. Difference between a 4.77 ERA and a 4.96 ERA really isn't meaningful. Suppan as a #5 is fine as long as he doesn't keep walking guys like last game. DiFelice would be better though~.
  16. This is exactly the time you can't let Kendall hit unless you plan on stealing first.
  17. I've seen this one before, Reds score 1 or 2 runs here, we come back and score the same with a good inning against Cordero and still lose by 1.
  18. Baker putting in the LH pitcher here is just so confusing, we better make him pay for it.
  19. I don't like this move very much. If they are going to be this concerned about saving a lefty for late in the game they should have kept Swindle on the team to have 2 lefties.
  20. Well that is good to see. We need Hardy or Braun to start hitting... or I'd take both!
  21. Probably a sign of a good team. A genuinely bad team like the Astros just gets pounded every day, Brewers take some goofy weird crap to earn a loss.
  22. It's April and a lot of pitchers have problems throwing strikes in April. Last year as an example 107 more BBs were issued in the NL in April than in May and the lowest K/BB ratio of any month was April.
  23. 1-6 and outscored 43-16 so far. Off to a good start I see.
  24. To be fair that was built on a 5-0 August with a 3.00 ERA. A month in which he allowed 8 HRs but got away with it because of a .214 BABIP against. Suppan at this point is completely at the whim of BABIP. He is going to give up his extra base hits but what he can't do is BB guys. If he starts to BB 4 per 9 his career is over as a starter.
